      Hi @supergey

First off, check what you've actually uploaded. What client are you using? qBittorret and uTorrent both have columns you can add to display this. In qBittorrent, right-click while hovering over the column titles (1). It's th same in qBittorrent, if I remember correctly. I'm sure other clients will have this facility too.

      849844a1-6052-4893-9085-5251d3fd5889-image.jpeg

The number of times a torrent has been loaded has no direct relationship with how much you have uploaded yourself, other than the first 100% or so to get at least one person fully seeded. After that (during it, even), leechers become seeders. It's quite possible that you upload something once, and everything thereafter is seeded by others. That's unlikely to be absolute in my experience, but it's not uncommon for me to have seeded only 220% yet there are a dozen completed uploads showing. I have no idea how the decision tree driving everything works out who is going to seed what!

Once you see that figure you'll be more certain about how much you've actually uploaded and can judge if you feel it falls short. Remember that ratios are calculated from the total you've uploaded and downloaded. If these are both low, a small addition can make a noticeable difference. The larger those totals, the more it takes from an individual upload to move the needle. For example, I was seeding one continuously at 1-1.5mb/s for most of yesterday, and was pleased to notice my ratio ticked up by one percent.

Once you have that info, send details to the helpdesk via the link in the main page's toolbar. Only they have access to the info needed to look at this specific case.

Don't forget to tell them the name of the torrent, perhaps even include a link to it. I suspect a screenshot of the torrent in your client might also be useful. Thereafter, I'm sure they'll ask for any additional info they need.

    • RE: Tracker Not Working

I've noticed this too, and hoped that this was an issue at the site end rather than mine. This seemed most likely, as another site I seed at, to a lesser extent, is showing me seeding the same number of torrents as my own client says I am.

No doubt this will be resolved in due course, hopefully sooner rather than later if seeding records are being lost. I keep glancing at one particular torrent I've been seeding constantly at 1-1.5mb/s for several hours now, and wondering at what point I should start crying. 😧

    • RE: Ratio Probrem

@sidneejmas Apologies. My sarcasm was obviously too subtle for you to detect.

You get upload credit for what YOU upload. You don't get upload credit for what others upload. If a torrent has 100GB traffic, and you have 4GB credit (on an original 2GB torrent) it means YOU have seeded the original 2G to get the torrent started, then a further 2GB in total. Others, as they have finished leeching - not necessarily from YOU - have uploaded 96GB between them.

Do you seriously think you should be given the upload credit for what these others have uploaded? Would you be happy if you seeded 50GB of data, yet received credit for none of it because that was given to the torrent originator? If you thought you would, or think you should, then maybe @ianfontinell 's original comment was not that wide of the mark.

The total amount of traffic is completely irrelevant. What counts is how much YOU have uploaded. Obviously you CAN upload, otherwise the torrent could not have been grabbed by others, but once another person also has even a part of your original upload, they can also be seeding other leechers.

The "decision tree" behind who seeds to who and when is a level or two deeper than I can explain to myself, let alone others, but there is one.

If you're convinced there's an error somewhere, it's fairly simple to test/check. Both uTorrent and qBittorrent have columns to display the total amount uploaded. Simply take a look at that. That is the number that should have been credited to you.

@sidneejmas Do you receive upload credit when you seed torrents you didn't upload? Why are you penalising those torrent uploaders by taking credit when, obviously, 100% of all traffic on each torrent should have gone to the originator?

@sidneejmas I strongly encourage anyone who can afford it to donate at least once, regardless of having a ratio problem or not. It costs money to keep the site running, so I'm sure every penny helps.

I'm assuming ratio problems most likely affect newcomers, who are learning how things work, so consequently their up and down figures are relatively low. The more you use the site, the higher those numbers, and the less impact donating has. I'm currently on about 36TB up and 16TB down, so the donation would need to be significant to move the needle even a little.

Of course, at the moment donations are worth seven times the upload credit they usually are, so if you're thinking about donating, now is an extremely good time to do so.

    • RE: Japanese video, any information at all appreciated

@apollonius Glad you've moved a step or two closer. The language barrier certainly adds a whole other level of difficulty!

Is this a "stand alone" scene or a full length video? If the latter, many have the "DVD cover" shown at the start. Or perhaps there was a cover image along with the video file where you got it from?

If you can grab an image of that, and zoom in, at the bottom of the spine, or sometimes in the blurb that would be "on the back", they give a reference number in English. (Well, not English, but in Western script. I temporarily forget the correct term for this!)

If you can find that - often with COAT it starts COCO___ or, easier, COAT1234 - that site is good at listing all the performers in that title, and the other references it's also known by. For some reason, most Japanese AV producers seem to think it's necessary for the same scene to have half-a-dozen different references!

    • RE: Armond Rizzo movie, trying to find it

@tnar If you know the co-performer's name, maybe, but less so if you only recognise the face. Many of their performer pages have no image to check, and you need to go into each one before you know this. Also, in GEVI, sorting by co-stars isn't an option.

With IAFD, whilst "Check Scene Pairings" is sometimes empty, when there are people there you can see images of all of them simply by scrolling down, which I find far easier than jumping from page to page, and all of the scenes each has been in with the performer you're looking at are in a single place.

Of course, I've found that often neither site is complete, and checking both can yield results that checking one only might not. Which one I check first tends to be driven by what I know. For instance, GEVI seems much better at listing older scenes.

Edit: I've just realised, in this case you're right. One place GEVI scores over IAFD is that it does include scene partners in the initial list, making it easy to see if a scene is one-on-one, a threesome, etc., and given we know (a) it's Armond Rizzo and (b) a group of men in a hotel room, this would indeed be the better place to start.

Could it be "Kinky Little Cocksucker"? https://gayeroticvideoindex.com/episode/134220

As for the statement that "you may have heard liberals claiming that...". There ARE no liberals in the Untied States of Arrogance, in elected positions at least. There's an extreme-right and a centre-right party. Anyone even marginally left of centre is vilified for being a communist!

Have you tried checking out his listing at the International Adult Film Database? https://www.iafd.com/person.rme/id=3e007bb7-3f46-4fa8-9efb-2ab64e0831c1

It's likely not complete, and nothing jumped out as being a potential match when I just did a quick check. but there are 207 appearances listed there. You can sort that list by year, and if you might recognise a face or two of those who appeared with him, the "Check Scene Pairings" feature might help might jog your memory.

@apollonius It's just possible that I managed to find this particular Seiya. Could it be https://md.gvdb.org/5670/ ? If this is the same guy, that link lists many (though I doubt all) scenes he has featured in. From that, you can see the other performers that have appeared along side him in each scene, though it's not a small task to undertake!

      5670_13.jpg

If not, if you're not already aware of this site, it would be a good place to start your search. The homepage is https://md.gvdb.org Note that you may have to turn off your VPN to access it, unless you use a browser via split-tunnelling. It's a newly introduced "feature" which is certainly blocking me. There is usually at least one image for each performer. The search function seems to allow multiple filters - or at least, the above was one of the hits when I searched "Seiya 2011".

Another site you might try is https://www.gvwiki.com/search though I'm less familiar with this one, having only recently discovered it myself.

@ianfontinell Got it. And only now, of course, do I see the clearly marked QUOTE button, right next to REPLY.

So if I was replying to @someone, using the REPLY button but wrapped your comment...

      @ianfontinell I noticed that I no longer....

...as a quote, you would previously have been notified of that but now don't seem to be. And that's different to me just writing within normal comment text that " @namewithheldfornon-annoyancepurposes said he no longer gets... ". That's a mention which, I believe, you would get notified about.

Found my meds, btw, so I'll be quiet now, and go sit in a corner for a bit.

    • RE: Are you getting notifications when other members quote you in the forum?

@ianfontinell I may be getting confused. Is "quoting" different to "mention"? I assumed quoting was when all or part of what a person wrote is included as a precursor when you are replying to a comment. So arguably you're not getting notified because you were quoted, you're getting notified because someone replied to you.

If there was a third person in this thread and I replied to them, I assume you wouldn't get notified. But if I copied your text including your name, or wrote ' @somename said "Only on Thursday's, if it's raining" ' then, whilst grammatically I'm quoting it's technically a mention, in comment terms.

Should I just be quiet and go find my meds?

I was fairly sure I got one a short while ago, and that I was quoted rather than responded to. But I became less sure as I wrote that sentence, so I've changed "am" to "was". I got a comment up-voted a couple of times, and that might be what I'm mistaking.

I'm one of those members who has been on the site for ages, but only recently got access to the forum - at least to actively participate - when someone found exactly the right sized hammer to hit the troublesome piece of code with.

I'm going to annoy you by adding @ianfontinell to the next few comments I leave. 😁

    • RE: Download stuck at stalled (Qbittorent)

@idumy This gets really complicated. I "nearly" had an answer and was going to post an "info guide", then I discovered a whole other layer which has made me pause and rethink.

In simple terms, at least one person in a swarm has to be contactable to start the torrent "conversation". This translates to having their port-forwarding enabled and correctly set up in the client. Most of us hide behind a VPN. Most VPNs don't support port forwarding.

The amount of seeders and leechers in a swarm is, in theory, irrelevant, except that the more there are, the more likely one has the port forwarding capability needed for everything to start working. The only solutions I've found so far is to switch to a VPN provider who does have a port forwarding feature, or to risk running a torrent client without that protection, exposing your real IP to the world.

I've recently tried this with another member. I'd been theoretically seeding several torrents for ages yet, even though there had also been one leecher connected for ages, nothing ever transferred. I installed a totally separate client to ensure clear separation and turned off my main client, then turned off my VPN and added four of the problem torrents to it - three I was seeding and one I was leeching but had been stuck on for weeks. The three I was seeding immediately began transferring and ran through to completion, and the other member confirmed he'd successfully grabbed them. Unfortunately this didn't solve my own leeching requirement. Having completed this test, I reverted everything back to normal.

A day or two later, suddenly around twenty similarly stuck torrents came to life, including the one I was trying to leech. On checking, I learned that the other member had tried temporarily switching to another VPN - Proton - who DO support port forwarding.

This explanation is also supported by something else I couldn't previously explain. When I upload new torrents, they can often take two, three, or even more hours before they actually start seeding. These are fairly niche torrents - Asian BL - so only a small amount of takers. The time taken is more to do with the number of leechers. There often needs to be four or five before it starts. Once it does, it's full speed ahead. Sometimes, for no apparent explanation until now, the new torrent starts pretty much as soon as there's one leecher. I can only conclude that one leecher does have port forwarding enabled and working.

Sorry that the above is so detailed! This issue has been bugging me for an awful long time, and I don't think it's something many are aware of, so I thought it information worth sharing. Unfortunately, I've now learned that it's not "the" answer I've been seeking, as there are a couple of other factors to consider. I've currently paused in my search for understanding, as I was a little worried my head would explode!

Please understand that I'm NOT suggesting just turning your VPN off for everything. We use them for a reason, and torrenting without this privacy shield is extremely risky. But, if there's something you're desperate for and you're notionally exposing yourself (😲 ) to only one or two seeders, you may consider it a risk worth taking in that instance. I do, though, recommend doing this one or two torrents at a time, and using a different client dedicated to solely that purpose, to minimise the risk of accidentally torrenting as usual while you're naked for all the world to see!

    • RE: Is there a problem regarding downloading torrents?

@makaradze Don't worry about those disabled trackers - they're supposed to say that. They're linked to public tracker access, and as every torrent here is private, what would be concerning is if any WERE showing as enabled.

I can't really speak to the actual issue much, other than to say that I've also noticed a fall in my volume of upload / seeding traffic over the last day or two, but this could well be simply because no-one happens to want what I'm offering right now.

It is unusual enough, though, that I've noticed and will likely run a test or two if it continues. My ratio is dropping dangerously close to the target I've arbitrarily set myself, so I'm starting to get a little nervous. 😧

@DandyLion Interesting that I'm not listed as a seeder. As mentioned in my DM, when I paused that torrent, then after waiting a short while, refreshed my browser page, the total number of torrents dropped by one. When I then restarted it, it increased by one. So it appears it's being counted somewhere, just not where you'd expect it to be showing up.

What would be more interesting is if the numbers for how many torrents I'm seeding is calculated using the same source data as where you looked at individual seeding. If so, good luck with that! 😕

@DandyLion Just for additional info, I too have this problem on 8 out of around 440 torrents.

As you can see from the screenshot above, many of these are actually seeding, but I assume because they're unregistered, I'm not earning upload credit. In most cases, once I noticed the issue I tried deleting the torrent, downloading the .torrent file again, and readding it, but the problem persists.

Just thought it might be helpful to know that this isn't an isolated incident attributable to a single user's configuration or an issue with a specific torrent.
