@panoptikon Do you just mean being able to see / get / screenshot a list of the torrents you've uploaded?

It's under your Profile, at the bottom of the User Details tab. You can get to that tab even quicker by clicking the numbers with green Up and Down arrows, showing your current seeding and leeching in the menu bar at the top of the page.

@Hampie I was one of the members invited to early access, to provide some real usage to spot any bugs, etc. I spent the first two days hating it, and switching back to the old site version after a few minutes into each site visit.

I still don't really like the current "close to the original" torrent layout, even though @joker went out of his way to accommodate one or two of my suggestions. After a while of that, I grudgingly tried the new grid layout.

Now, I wouldn't go back if you paid me. Well... I might. How much are we talking?

    • RE: Unexplainable "Unregistered Torrent" Warnings

@ianfontinell I'm on 4.6.3. That's considerably below the most recent qB release already, but it's the latest that Linux offers directly.

I'm reluctant to downgrade for the same reason as I am to upgrade. Other than this problem, I've had no issues with the version I'm using. And, to be honest, I feel it more likely to be a site-side issue than a client issue, given the available information.

That it's showing any sort of error bugs me, and I may be losing a bit of upload credit, but that won't be a lot. Five of the torrents are old, niche ones, which have uploaded less than 10gb between them since they were added. Three are short term, so if they start taking up bandwidth at the expense of other seeding torrents, I can just delete them.

@Dracula975 Maybe the best temporary solution for me is to always view qB on the same monitor, full screen, and physically put a bit of masking tape over the "Warning" line in the panel. If I can't see it, it won't scream at me every time I glance at it! 😢

    • RE: Unexplainable "Unregistered Torrent" Warnings

@Dracula975 Understood, though personally I've not encountered any siginifcant bugs with qB, and I much prefer it over uTorrent.

But if it was a bug with my client, I'd expect that bug to be consistent across all of my torrents. This is happening on only eight out of nearly five hundred seeding torrents. I've just checked, and whilst I'm not using the latest version of qB, I am using the latest recommended one for Linux, my OS. I've had a few issues with getting my client to play nicely with my VPN, so I don't think upgrading beyond the version recommended by Linux is a risk worth taking for now, for what is only a minor annoyance rather than a significant problem.

It's also happening only on torrents from this site. I don't now have a lot from elsewhere, especially since the takedown of "the-site-that-should-probably-not-be-named". There are only a dozen seeding, and they've been doing so for a long time. I mainly just download from the three other sites I use, because I'm hugely in credit, but haven't noticed any error / warning message when I've been doing so.

@ianfontinell Oh, they're working. "#helix" is seeding as I type, but it's shown as unregistered and as a warnnig.

The "weird" thing is that they should be no different to any of my other torrents, which work fine. And readding them doesn't cure the glitch.

    • Unexplainable "Unregistered Torrent" Warnings

I've currently got eight torrents (out of c. 490 for this site) that are showing as warnings in qBittorrent, with the message "Unregistered torrent". The number has grown over the last couple of months.

      57421527-6a3a-419c-ab64-ff29bd89c79a-image.jpeg

"Unregistered torrent" is usually a sign that a torrent has been deleted from the site for some reason, but in all cases each torrent is still showing, and appears to be active. Two of these eight are torrents where I'm the originator. In all cases (except the latest), I've deleted the torrent, redownloaded it, and forced a recheck, but the warning returns.

I'm not hugely concerned about probably losing upload credit, but seeing warnings and errors in my client drives me nuts! Five of these are torrents I plan to seed long-term, so the issue won't just "go away" when I delete individual torrents.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing, or suggest a possible cause?

@focker Expand the search area to full (1) then click on "Categories" (2 - except the word is hidden when it's expanded). This shows them all and you can add / remove as required. To the right is "Sub Categories", which works the same way.

@FAII The way I've done this is to set the page up as I want it, then bookmark that in my browser. That's the page I always enter the site through, and it's always set to my preferred order, exclusions, etc.

@MrMazda But if that's the casew, how can I have torrents with one person seeding (me) but showing no-one as peers? If peers include both seeders and leechers, peers must surely be at least one.

@amicusets That was exactly my feeling when I was invited to be an early user and help bug test.

@Joker went out of his way to ensure one of the views was really similar to the old list view. Yet once I got a little used to it, I've come to love the new grid layout. I find it infinitely better now, and would hate being forced back to the old way.

@DeepSeaTide OK. The connection thing is a bit confusing (to me!). For ages, mine was also orange too, even though I was uploading and downloading fine. Now it is nearly always green.

Can we start a real time chat? It might be helpful to get some answers to somew specific questions, which it probably won't be helpful to other readers to have to scroll through here in the public forum? I'll send you a DM. Hopefully the old "3 DMs per day" max in the main site doesn't apply here! If it's OK, reply in that. If you'd rather not, just ignore me there! 😥

    • RE: How to seed?

But then how do I earn more Seeding Score quickly or as much as you did? It feels like no one is downloading what I've seeded even though I followed your previous advice of sorting the Freeleech list by "Freeleech most recent".

All of my seeds have an "uploaded" stat of 0, except two which only uploaded a little bit.

      10769037-9556-4381-8904-87a669903049-image.jpeg

Does your qB show the above at the of the app? This is the "Status bar". If not, you turn it on from "View" in the main menu at the top.

Going from right to left, the numbers to the right of the blue 'up' arrows show how much you're uploading right now, as a speed. The number in brackets is how much in total you've uploaded in this session (i.e. since you started qB this time round. It resets to zero when you fully close the app and begins again from zero when you next start it. The numbers next to the green 'down' arrows are the same stats for downloading.

The next one to the left, that looks like a speedometer, is a toggle to switch between standard and alternate up/down speed limits / caps (for times you want to restrict how much you're seeding/downloading. Make sure it's set to the green "Global" option for now, so we know that's not part of the mix.

The icon to the left of that one is your connection status. Is it green like this? Or orange? Hover your cursor over it. A tool tip should pop up to say "Connection Status: ..." What does it say? You may need to fiddle about a bit to get it to pop up - i.e. click something else then come back to it a few times - at least, I often have to on mine.

    • RE: How to seed?

@DeepSeaTide Correct. Peers are "leechers" - i.e. the people trying to download the torrent. Not sure why they're given a different name which only adds to the potential for confusion. Seeds are - as one would expect - the people who have the full torrent contents and are available to upload to others. The total number of each is the number shown in brackets.

      995f7858-e173-4288-8888-0bcb894ccd0a-image.jpeg

So in the line shown in green above, there are 8 people in that torrent's swarm - one seeder and seven peers/leechers.

The number NOT in brackets, is how many I'm connected to. So there is only one person seeding. There are seven people trying to leech, of which I'm one.

Once I have all the files, I become a seeder and there's no reason for me to connect to other seeders, which is why all the blue lines show zero seeder connections. I'm seeding one leeching person in each of the swarms that are shown.

      @DeepSeaTide said:

      Seeding Availability = Points
Seeding = Upload Score (Let's call it that)

Yup, that's it in a nutshell. You can exchange points for upload credit when you have enough, but the most you can earn per day that way in 40. You can exchange 600 points for 10gb upload credit. So you'd have to be seeding the maximum number of torrents for 15 days to be able to earn enough for it. 10gb is significant when you're new, but the more you upload and download, the less significant it is. I've currently uploaded about 32tb, so an additional 10gb wouldn't have any noticeable effect on my ratio.

The main way to maintain / improve your ratio is, yes, seeding. You can also buy upload credit. Oops. I mean, you can "donate", and as a thank you for doing so, you're given upload credit.

The easiest way to upload is to seed other people's torrents but, as mentioned before, if you have stuff that's not already here you can also upload that as a torrent yourself. The first time you do so, you're entered into a (monthly?) draw, and have a chance of winning a 600 point First Timer bonus.

    • RE: How to seed?

      @DeepSeaTide

You don't get points for seeding. You get points for a torrent being AVAILABLE to seed. So if it's listed as "Seeding" in qB, you get points regardless of whether someone is downloading it or not. There are also other ways of getting bonus points, listed in the Rules here. You get no upload credit for seeding availability, except when you have earned enough points to exchange them for this.

You get no bonus points for the amount of data you actually seed (upload). That is added to the total shown in your member info bar at the top (and in your profile).

Your ratio is the total amount you have uploaded divided by the total downloaded.
