He's even gone to great lengths to ensure that for the people who don't like change, there are ways of making the site look, feel, and behave in an eerily similar manner to the old site design, while at the same time having all up to date coding in a much newer version of PHP so that it will remain functional for the long term.

Part of the problem was that the version of PHP that the old site ran on is getting to the end-of-life stage of support, meaning as the server OS updates, it will no longer support the old version, which would render the site useless more or less. If we did not at least do some updates to the site to make it run in a newer version of PHP, eventually the site would have stopped working completely.

So while he was at it, he added a lot of bad ass features and customization options to do what I think is a damn fine job at making sure there's a setting for everything for just about everyone. You can't please everyone, but you can come pretty damn close with the customization options that are now available.

I did some digging and found out that the torrent was deleted by the uploader, only to be uploaded again a few hours later. I have taken corrective measures in this matter.

I have been keeping an eye on the situation and have noticed that at times, many torrents will time out, but after some time, come back to life. I have notified the sysop of this.

@lessrepresed as John mentioned, there is no direct way to change your username. You can however (with staff assistance) create a second account, then have staff merge the stats information from your old account to your new account.

There is a down side to this... Any SBP you have collected will NOT be transferred to your new profile. Your upload stats, download stats, and overall ratio however will transfer over to the new account.

Not only do you want to use a trusted VPN so that your real IP address is not visible but you will also want to make sure that you never leave a comment on any of the torrents, as your username will appear in the comments as the uploader.

As for the torrent itself, only staff are able to see the username of the person who uploaded the torrent. Anyone who is not staff would only see uploaded by Anonymous.

@raphjd It seems someone tried to give this user another chance, only for them to repeat the same mistakes over and over. I've yanked their ability to continue this once again, but if it gets restored again and they continue on this path, I think the next step may be a permanent "vacation" if ya know what I mean...

I'm not opposed to giving users who have screwed up a chance to learn from their mistakes and get it right, but when the same issues keep coming up time and time again, then I have to wonder what's the point of giving them chance after chance just to do the same crap over and over again.

@trkr4life To get an invite, you need to be a power user. Your account does not yet meet the criteria for power user status. You need to have an upload of at least 40 GB, need to be on the site at least 26 weeks I think it is, and you have to have a ratio above 1.04.

I also find it odd that your account is now disabled, but yet there is nothing in the system to show WHY it was disabled. Whether you call on the delete account script, or the action is done by a mod somehow, there should be an entry in the history to say WHY/HOW it was disabled, but there's not.

@filthycasual1337 BitTorrent Web is just the same as uTorrent Web. It is generally regarded as a TERRIBLE choice for torrent client. It may have a lot to do with the issue you are having.

@blablarg18 I'm surprised Canada didn't make that list. We just recently introduced laws that make criticizing the government a hate crime. That's just one of many things we have recently put into place that would blow your mind and make you wonder how such a thing were possible in a supposedly "free" country.

@willow1 I don't think this is a change in the site, but rather possibly a change in your port forwarding settings.

What you're describing sounds like your port forwarding settings are not in order, which is particularly important with our site, unlike others. You need to be sure that the port your torrent client uses is forwarded through your home router or VPN to your computer, both in TCP and UDP. This is a necessary step for getting proper upload traffic with our site, and in some cases, can even make it hard to download certain torrents, especially if they are not well seeded.

@Seakyusee1 This is usually the case when your torrent client is trying to download the torrent, rather than seed it. To fix this, remove the torrent from your uTorrent, then do the following:

1. Move the video file or the folder containing the multiple files into the folder that your uTorrent downloads into by default.

2. Download the .torrent file from the site to use

3. Open the .torrent file from the site with your uTorrent

As long as all the file(s) are in the correct place (ie the default download folder, or their collective folder within that folder), uTorrent should check the contents, then begin to seed it for you.

When it tries to download the contents, it is because it cannot find them in the default download folder, so it assumes you are trying to download, rather than seed.

FWIW: The user who uploaded this here has previously been banned several times for this, among other things. They seem to have created a new account here, but were unable to avoid the axe being dropped on that account too because they've already been banned, and they made it painfully obvious that they're the same person by pulling this crap again on their new account. They may have thought that they were slick, but their stupidity was no match for my superior sleuthing skills.
