RE: fucking guys... why?
@lololulu19 Thinking you can get off without a rape charge for anal sex or sex with another man is just absurd. You most definitely CAN catch a rape charge for it, even if there is no risk of pregnancy.

RE: Genuine question for the mods: WTF is up with this video????
@jokuihmemies Except that this is the same user... I have revoked their upload rights again, as they keep repeating the same infractions, despite multiple warnings.

RE: YouTube says Pride isn't fit for kids
@blablarg18 Oh please.... This is just a convenient out to try to get it censored. I don't buy it.

RE: What is up with this video???
I did some digging and found out that the torrent was deleted by the uploader, only to be uploaded again a few hours later. I have taken corrective measures in this matter.

RE: A connection attempt failed in download
I have been keeping an eye on the situation and have noticed that at times, many torrents will time out, but after some time, come back to life. I have notified the sysop of this.

RE: Is it possible to change your username?
@lessrepresed as John mentioned, there is no direct way to change your username. You can however (with staff assistance) create a second account, then have staff merge the stats information from your old account to your new account.
There is a down side to this... Any SBP you have collected will NOT be transferred to your new profile. Your upload stats, download stats, and overall ratio however will transfer over to the new account.

RE: Identifying the uploader
@raphjd said in Identifying the uploader:
There is no such thing as 100% security when doing things online.
Make sure you use a trusted VPN.
Not only do you want to use a trusted VPN so that your real IP address is not visible but you will also want to make sure that you never leave a comment on any of the torrents, as your username will appear in the comments as the uploader.
As for the torrent itself, only staff are able to see the username of the person who uploaded the torrent. Anyone who is not staff would only see uploaded by Anonymous.

RE: What is up with this video???
@raphjd It seems someone tried to give this user another chance, only for them to repeat the same mistakes over and over. I've yanked their ability to continue this once again, but if it gets restored again and they continue on this path, I think the next step may be a permanent "vacation" if ya know what I mean...
I'm not opposed to giving users who have screwed up a chance to learn from their mistakes and get it right, but when the same issues keep coming up time and time again, then I have to wonder what's the point of giving them chance after chance just to do the same crap over and over again.

RE: My first upload
@Guadeloupe-0 Normally, mods do not get involved with such things, as any reward (such as SBP) has to come out of our own personal reserve.
As a one time exception to this, I have given you a 200 SBP top up, which can be exchanged for 2.5 GB of upload credit. While this is not normally something I do, as most users who ask have dug themselves a seriously huge ratio hole, your case is a little different for a few reasons. The most notable of these is that the ratio hole you need to dig yourself out of is less than 1 GB.
Just know that this is not something that we normally do, but in your case, I'll make an exception. Please use this gift wisely.
On another note, I should mention one thing so that you don't start thinking WTAF?!.... Rights management is done by the system once every 15 minutes, so when you reach your minimum ratio, do not panic if the system does not restore your download rights right away. It is perfectly normal for there to be a delay of up to 15 minutes for your download rights to be restored for this reason, so don't panic if it doesn't happen right away the moment you get your ratio back to the minimum.

RE: gay-torrents.org is DOWN
Get a dumb enough lawyer & you can sue a goldfish.
From what I read, they don't know the identities (yet) of most of the users, only some of the staff/moderators. They're all listed as "John Doe ###"
The problem I think they're going to have is that in many parts of the world outside of the USA, the laws aren't absolutely insane, so even if someone making a legal claim has a date/time stamped IP address record, most other parts of the world will recognize that having an IP address may prove the subscriber to the internet service, however it does not identify the end-user of the device.
Especially in the days of home WiFi systems, is is realistically possible that the end-user of the device used for the infringing activity could be pretty much anyone who has ever been at or even near the service address of the internet subscription. For this reason, it just baffles me as to why the USA seems to be one of the only places in the world where you do not have to prove the identity of the end-user, and the service subscriber is the one on the hook, for no other reason than they are the one named on the internet service account.
In Canada, a copyright holder absolutely can hold the service subscriber responsible for the damages, however in order to do this, they must prove that the service subscriber was aware of the infringing activity on their internet service, AND that they failed to take the necessary actions to stop the infringing activity. This is where our notice & notice system (as it is called) comes in.
A copyright holder can send a notice to the service provider, who then forwards the notice to the service subscriber. The subscriber then has a certain period of time (48 hours if I'm not mistaken) in which to ensure that the infringing activity has ceased. It is only after this notice is delivered to the service subscriber, AND the infringing activity does not stop that the service subscriber can be held responsible (even if they are not the person who engaged in the infringing activity) as the proof of the delivery of the notice, combined with proof that the activity has not stopped is sufficient evidence to hold them accountable.

RE: gay-torrents.org is DOWN
Might be nice if a Mod could create a new .Org thread, and move all the new lawsuit posts to that thread. Then maybe merge all the .Net posts without the .Org stuff. Totally up to the staff, but makes sense to me.

Fork created. The discussions of .net and .org are now separate threads.

RE: gay-torrents.net appears to be down too. Looks like lawsuits against gay torrent sites are following thick and fast. Perhaps they should be doing more to hide their identity.
@Dracula975 I just forked the topic to separate the discussion of .net and .org into two different threads

RE: How to send bonus points
@Pandaster94 You can ask him to upload a torrent. He can get first upload bonus points (600 I think) and you can then say thanks and give upto 250 sees points at a time. Never tried if a user can thank and give seed bonus multiple times on the same torrent.
Yes. You can thank and leave SBP on a torrent as many times as you'd like.
Just be careful about asking for things though, as we have a blanket policy that requests for content are not allowed anywhere on the site.

RE: gay-torrents.org is DOWN
@raphjd Yes. I doubt any of their Canadian users will end up getting named due to the way that laws work in Canada, especially thanks to TekSavvy in the case of Voltage Pictures Inc v TekSavvy Solutions a few years back. The trouble with Canadian users is that it has now been established and is recognized that an IP address alone is insufficient to prove that the end-user of the device used is in fact the account holder, so they're not likely to ever get the identity of their Canadian users. That's just one of many issues that have been established when trying to identify a user by IP address.

RE: gay-torrent.org is down ... should we worry ?
@gehgeh That all depends on what you've downloaded and shared on the site. They're currently under legal siege and are not likely to ever come back because of it.

RE: Torrents comments not displaying in dark theme
@dereksarte There is a way to switch between the two for now
To see the new site:

RE: Torrents comments not displaying in dark theme
@dereksarte Given that we're in the process of rolling out a new site design, this is not likely to get fixed, as it's just going to get replaced with an entirely different layout.

RE: Torrents are not downloading anymore
@Kandor It looks like you're in a low ratio state. When this happens, the system will only allow you to download two torrents at a time. It looks like you already have 2 active leeching torrents. This is likely your issue.

RE: Turkey has banned the gaytor.rent
@raphjd I don't know about on stealth VPN, as I don't generally need to use it, but I know that most server locations that they have I'm able to easily crank at LEAST 100 mbit symmetrical through them.
