There's a lot that can be (and has been) said, but @frostycab's admonition to avoid this stuff like the plague is very good advice.

Rather than write a long essay here (which is always my temptation), let me propose a few factoids:

• A website's certification that "all our models are 18+" isn't reliable. Websites are in the business of selling content, and these statements can be nothing more than marketing devices.

• mike18.com can be found on the internet archive "wayback machine," with listings starting in 2005 and ending last year. I don't have any information on why the website disappeared, but if "Mike" was 18 in 2005, he'd be 36 now, and not likely to be featured in that site's content.

• If one's computer is searched by law enforcement, and questionable material is found, it is not a defence to claim that one relied on a website's certification. While it is not possible to determine whether a model is 18 or 16 simply by looking at a photograph or video, police officers tend to be cautious and do an arrest if they have "probable cause" to believe that some material might feature under-age models.

• While the maxim of the law in first-world western countries is that a person is presumed innocent of criminal charge until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, in practice it doesn't work that way for child abuse, child pornography, or drink-driving. In those kinds of cases, even well-intentioned and well-informed jurors will presume guilt unless there is a proof of innocence. It isn't supposed to work that way, but this is what tends to happen.

• It is ultimately each person's responsibility to curate their own porn collection to eliminate the possibility of under-age material. There is material on this site--and many others--that I would not be comfortable keeping on my computer. That is not a criticism of this site--it's just a different perspective. Other torrent and tube sites have a variety of approaches to this topic. One torrent that I know site will only list material from Very Big Studios that have too much money at stake to risk using under-age models. I also recall a tube site hosting material, mostly home-made, that is often very questionable. I don't know where they're located or how they stay afloat.

• The bottom line, though, is not, "how do I stay out of jail?" Our concern should be "how do I not exploit young boys/men?" A 15-year-old who is paid a few dollars/pounds/euros to wank on camera might look like he is giving consent to the act, but he isn't able, at that age, to fully appreciate the consequences of his actions. He is being exploited for profit and/or gratification. Even though we might not be holding the camera or paying money to view that performance, we are still participating in the exploitation.

OK, I confess to having written a long essay despite my stated intention otherwise. But these are important issues that need our careful attention.

@ichbins I suggest that you check the torrent listing frequently, and download a freeleech torrent when it appears--especially one that shows a lot of leechers. Even if it's not something that you want to keep, you will get upload credit for whatever you seed.

That might sound like a silly question, but...

Over time, and some good internet connections, I've built up a share ratio of 6.6 on this site (much larger on some other sites), with a download buffer of 35 TB. I'm not likely to go to ratio jail any time in the next hundred years. (I'm not bragging about size. Mousing around the "active users" list on the home page shows members with ratios in the twenties.)

By definition, having a good ratio is a good thing. But I remember my early days on this site, trying hard to get my statistics above water, and now it occurs to me that every GB I upload is a GB that someone else isn't uploading--and maybe that someone else needs more upload opportunity to stay afloat. Members with struggling ratios might have a better chance if I throttled my upload a bit.

I'm curious about other members' views on this topic. There isn't a specific "right answer" here, which is perhaps what makes this interesting.

I think the quickest way to dig yourself out of ratio jail is to make a financial contribution to the site (see https://www.gaytor.rent/donate.php for the details on this). You can do the math to see how much upload credit you need to get above the 0.8 penalty line. You also get the satisfaction of helping to keep this site operating: computers, software, and bandwidth aren't free.

When you do get download rights back, there are a few things that can help your ratio:

A good way to increase ratio is to download only a few files from a new, large torrent--maybe 10% or less of the content. Those will often download quickly, and then the tracker system will hook you up (!) with other users who are looking for that material. The results can be astounding: here's a snip from my uTorrent client showing five torrents that I've done this way:

Even if you have a ratio warning, grabbing 5% of a new fan site collection will pay off for you even if you don't want the content. For example, on that one at the bottom of the list I only selected 5% of the content, but uploaded nearly 66 times that content. The only drawback here is that a torrent from which you haven't downloaded all of the content will count against your number of available download slots...so depending on how many slots you have, this could be an issue.

Keep your computer on all the time, with the torrent client running. I rarely turn my computer off, because on/off cycling puts a lot of wear on the machine.

And finally, try uploading some of your own material if it isn't already here. If you downloaded something from another site, or from here a few years ago and it's gone dead, uploading it will usually give you 2-3 times the file size in upload volume--sometimes much more. I think you can still upload new material even if your download rights are gone, but a moderator might want to weigh in on this if I'm wrong.

But let's look at the specific flow of the thread. In the first post, the OP says, in essence, "Please help me find something. I looked in X [IAFD] and it wasn't there." (Bonus points are awarded for use of the term "please.")

The first response said, "Take a look in Y (adultdvdempire), it might be in there."

The OP responds, "As I already said, I looked in X, and it wasn't there." This post adds nothing to the thread, as its contents had indeed been "already said." It does not say, but perhaps implies, that the OP looked in Y and didn't find the desired thing there. If that were the case, a better response would have been, "Thank you; I looked there, and and I didn't find it there either." Another approach would have been to not respond at all.

While it's not required that people use common courtesy in this forum, it doesn't hurt. In fact, it might even help: Courteous responses can encourage other Gentle Members to respond to requests for information, whilst non-courteous ones can discourage that.

No Other Land was made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four activists in what they describe as an act of resistance on the path to justice during the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. It was featured at many film festivals around the world, including several in Canada, but no distributor down in the US wanted to pick it up.

These questions go away if one is careful with vocabulary. "Gay, bi, & straight," as colloquial terms for "homosexual, bisexual, & heterosexual," refer to what people a person is generally attracted to. These terms are generalised categories that don't fully describe the variety of sexual attraction.

The four behaviours you mention are that--behaviours, or activities. They may bring pleasure and/or revulsion, but they are things people do. Psychologically "straight" men can experience pleasure when their prostate is stimulated by a dildo, a strap-on, or a penis in their rectum (as we find in lots of "gay" porn). Having said that, many such men can have a socially-conditioned dislike of those activities. (Putting this in colloquial language, a guy can enjoy getting fucked in the ass regardless of whether he's gay or straight.) Similarly, psychologically "gay" men can experience pleasure when their penis is stimulated inside a vagina.

As for "sodomy:" This is a legal term, but there is no crisp definition. The traditional definition in law is "unnatural sexual connection." This has been fine-tuned a bit in recent decades to "oral or anal copulation between humans, especially those of the same sex." (Note that this definition would cover oral sex between a married male-female couple. People are often surprised at this.) In the US, sodomy (however it is defined) cannot be prosecuted if performed by consenting adults in private. (See Lawrence v. Texas, 539 U.S. 558 (2003])

Is heterosexual sex outside of marriage sodomy?
Is heterosexual sex which employs contraceptives, sodomy?

If one considers these activities to be "unnatural," then they would be sodomy. Few prosecutors would follow that path.

(It is worth noting that extra-marital sexual activity is not criminalised in Europe or Canada, but is a felony is some US states. It is rarely prosecuted.)
