    • RE: Frequent "lost connection"

This connection problem absolutely must be fixed. I'm sure admins notice that the traffic on the forum has gone way down with the new system, both because of the connection issues and the clumsiness of the interface.

Once connection issues are resolved, I suggest two more fixes:

      1. Restore the "mouse over" functionality that lets one read the initial post when mousing over a title.
      2. Restore the "frozen pane" at the top of the forum screen so one can go immediately back to the torrent section/search features rather than clicking once to get to the torrents, and then again to select a search option.

Good luck as you work on these issues.

    • RE: Finished file showing as leeching and blocking download slots

@kulmel36 If you didn't choose to download all of the files in the torrent (i.e., if you de-selected some that you didn't want), that tracker software will consider you to be leeching the torrent even though you have downloaded the bits that you want. This will take up one of your download slots. There's no way around this other than to remove this torrent from your active torrent list, but that also means that you won't be able to seed to other users and get credit for that.

@ianfontinell said in It's just too bad to stay as it is:

Browsing the forum as it is at the moment is just... Not worth it. It's too annoying. Each 30 seconds connection is lost, then you're randomly kicked out and have to login again but each time this happen there's an unnecessary captcha to make things even more annoying.

I really want to browse the forum, there's lots of interesting stuff but I guess people won't have this bs for much longer. Just close it already until it's fixed or at least revert it back to the old one. If it's so hard to fix make another one, I'm sure there are lots of people here who would gladly help with that, myself included.

I sadly agree. The forum is pretty much useless now. It's a real shame, because it used to be that people posted lots of thoughtful comments--some gay-related, other household hints, etc.

It's especially tragic given that occasionally there would be a post from someone, likely young, experiencing serious depression and seeking support, or at least conversation, from people in the forum. This new forum software has likely destroyed that mechanism.

Even if things got fixed, I think enough people have been alienated from the forum that it will probably never return to its previous value.

    • RE: Freeleech request, please

Follow-up: I see that the first, second, and last of the torrents listed by the OP have been freeleeched, and that there are now many seeders and many leechers--so the "freeleech to get more seeders and quicker download" approach does indeed work. I learn something new every day.

To further test the theory, I've used seed points to make the following two torrents freeleech, and I've also downloaded the torrent files to my client so I can see their progress:

      https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=cd73736afff33242ec6b30a5f5a924a9dd64f7b8ce61669d

      https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=e9c1a3348bf127b5ec6b30a5f5a924a91eac9e5064ba6a6e

They both appear to be downloading furiously, at about 2 MB/sec.

    • RE: Horrifying fact about transGENDER people

@blablarg18 Once again we see the childish dynamic of, "If you can't discuss something rationally, call the other person names."

As for "comments of value," in this thread there are plenty from PedrocaWest...but replies to them are just old, worn-out copy/pastes from the Anti-Trans Playbook.

Here's an exercise for the reader: Do a search on "you" on this page in your browser. See how many times it shows up in the anti-trans replies? That's clear evidence that, when confronted with facts, the anti-transists simply start calling names. That makes a mockery of the forum--which should be about ideas, not personalities.

    • RE: Help!

If you look under "trackers," it probably says "unregistered torrent." This means that it's no longer in the system. Most likely it's been removed by staff, perhaps in response to a DMCA request, or maybe some other reason. In any event, it's dead. If you're still connected to another user you'll be able to exchange data for a while, but the tracker won't connect you to (new) other users.

    • RE: How do I watch the videos?

@Xezak Welcome! I hope you enjoy being part of the site.

There are probably some specific help pages/comment threads that can answer your question in detail, and I'm sure another Gentle User will step in here and point you there.

For now, let's look at some very general concepts: None of the thousands (millions?) of videos or images featured on the torrent pages are stored by the gaytor.rent website. Instead, individual users (like me, and now you) have some of them on their computers. Think of this website as a "matchmaker," connecting your computer to other computers so files can be shared back and forth between users.

The small "torrent file" you've downloaded from this site isn't a video. It's sort of like a passport that lets your computer connect to the other users so that you can download video material directly from them, and then the video (a much larger file) will show up on your computer.

This requires having a software application running on your computer (a "torrent client") that does the actual connecting-to-others and sharing files. I'm afraid that I don't know anything about iPads, but other users here do and they can probably point you to a web page that has the directions you need. The setup can be tricky, but if you get stuck, don't be afraid to ask questions in the forum. All of us had to learn this stuff when we got started.

      Good luck, and again, welcome!

Perhaps you meant to make this a comment on a specific torrent? There's a box at the bottom of each torrent page for that.

    • RE: Dead Torrent

@ikpooo When the torrent file is downloaded and running in your client (such as uTorrent or whatever you use), you can select some or all of the files that you want to download--just make sure it's in your torrent list, and it will probably say something like "connecting to peers" and show zero seeders.

It will not affect your ratio until someone responds to your reseed request. Once they do, the system will record how much you've downloaded from them. You won't get any upload credit, though, because those people who connected already have the files and it's unlikely that other people will hook up to an old torrent.

Downloading the torrent file and loading in your client will count against your limit for how many torrents you can download in a given day, as well as how many torrents you can have downloading at a time. (It counts as "downloading" even if there's nobody sending you data.) You can find the limits that apply to your account by going to https://www.gaytor.rent/rationator.php

Don't be discouraged: People do sometimes respond to reseed requests. If you're not having luck, though, I recommend against sending additional requests. If somebody got a request once and didn't respond, getting another one likely won't work.

      Good luck!

@andergarcia said in What kept you from completing suicide?:

      @bc22

Had never thought of completing suicide... If I ever thought of that, I would just need to think of all the great people I have around me (my boyfriend, my parents, my brother, my closest friends...).

I had a boyfriend some years back who committed suicide. The wreckage that leaves among family and friends is overwhelming. I've had some dark times now and then, but I could never have my legacy be that kind of destruction.

Suicide is not a grand Shakespearean "to be or not to be" existential decision. It's about ending one's pain. But it doesn't solve anything--it's surrendering to the pain and darkness because one cannot see any alternatives.

I am not passing negative judgment on those who attempt/complete suicide--I still love my lost boyfriend very much. It is, though, tragic that he, and many others, did not see an alternative to resolving their pain.

    • RE: is gay-torrents.org any good comparred to this amazing site?

Returning to the OP's question about the other site:

It's different from gtor.rent: It has fewer torrents posted per day, in part because everything there is from a studio--no amateur content like spy shots in a locker room or over-the-stall wanking. That site also enforces the rule that each torrent have a description and relevant photos.

Having said that, there is material there that can't be found here. (I won't mention any studio names, since this forum is public.) I think the two sites are complementary, and I like being part of both. Not everyone likes the other site: I've cashed in bonus points there to invite 18 people I "met" on here to join the other site, but only 12 became active users. Nothing pleases everybody.

The forum on the other site has less traffic, although it does have--and enforce--a rule about being civil and respectful of other users

From a purely subjective point of view, I think the format of the other site's torrent listings is better--it seems cleaner and easier to use...but web design preferences can be argued from here to eternity, and even then wouldn't be resolved.

@cinemacapman said in covid vaxx don't stop covid, says NY Supreme Court:

no vaccine whether it's COVID or flu, etc., prevents you from catching it or getting sick. No vaccine actually kills a virus. It prevents you from becoming seriously ill, hospitilization, or dying. Your body's immune system eventually wears down the virus. You actually just naturally heal yourself. They've been saying this for a long time, and people still are stubborn about accepting what the COVID vaccine actually does. Yes, you can still catch and transmit the virus. The vaccine simply protects you and your health.

This is the medical fact, and that's what belongs in a Health and Fitness forum thread.

If you want to call people liars, spread conspiracy theories, or espouse "alternative facts," there's another forum board for doing that.
