Checked: on a freeleech torrent the tracker records no download at all, so nothing can come from there. In the cases from this thread the traffic sat on ordinary torrents, and in the one I looked at tonight it was a single torrent that was still downloading while the member thought it was seeding. Your moved-files/re-download explanation is the usual one; a client's own transfer log is the quickest way to see it. Joker

Following on from what @ianfontinell said, it also isn't necessarily relevant how many people downloaded your 40gb torrent. The only guaranteed upload is the initial 40gb, at which point you've fully seeded your torrent once. Thereafter, you may not have uploaded any more, though that's unlikely, Once someone else has downloaded some of your torrent, they can also be uploading to others, who in turn can be uploading to still more people. You only get credit for what you personally have uploaded, not the total uploaded on that torrent. What client do you use? On qBittorrent, for instance, there's a column you can display which tells you on a per torrent basis how much you have uploaded in total. @mrmazda Had 2 German Shepherds, loved them for years. First one passed away because of bad store bought food as far as I know (Blue Buffalo brand, they ended up having a recall back them but notification was too late for my dog) and the other developed a very large tumor on his back. Miss them both greatly.

It should be noted that the greater your upload and download totals are, the more data it takes to make a noticeable difference in the ratio in terms of the actual number. This is even more the case if there is a large difference between the two numbers. In my case, trying to get my ratio back above 8.000 is proving to take more time than I expected, but this is largely because of the fact that my upload and download totals are both well into the range of being calculated in TB rather than GB, and my download buffer is more than 4 TB. So because of this, even though I have a faster speed now than I once did, it's still taking a surprising amount of time to notice the difference. The speed of your internet connection will also play a huge role in how long it will take to notice the difference. IF you're only uploading in KB/s, it will take a lot longer than if you're transferring in MB/s. Again, this is most especially true if your download and upload totals are rather large, and even more especially if you have a rather large difference between the two numbers.

@proulx Absolutely! Many are quick to dismiss the value of Seed Bonus Points simply for keeping torrents available should someone want them. I'm currently on about 7000 SBPs. Sure, some of these have been kindly gifted to me by members who appreciated one of my uploads, but the vast majority are from seeding torrents. Of course, there's a cap - I think it's about 40 points per day - but it adds up surprisingly quickly, and as you say it's a service to other members who might want to grab a torrent you're seeding. It's worth thinking about which torrents you continue to seed. You get the same bonus seeding a torrent that has no other seeds as you do seeding one with 100. Of course, 100 seeders suggests lots of people have wanted it, so it's more likely that others will too, but it also means you'll likely only get a small share of the traffic. Seeding one with only one or two other seeders, it might not be grabbed so often but when it is you'll likely get a far larger slice of the pie.

Torrent is not a good backup medium, because once you don't have the files anymore, you're completely out of control.

No ... you risk yourself downloading huge torrent that will trigger your ratio ''' Once you downloaded a file, whatever you downloaded may impact your ratio ... So your best option is to finish and seed or to stop @ your point ...

This lets you be an early person on the Freeleech, giving you the most benefit.

Just because I was working on the tracker doesn’t magically make upload/download credits disappear. For a while, it simply wasn’t counting anything at all.

@frostycab That's what I have been doing in the past, and if you're starting out it could be a good way to build up gigabytes but 10 gigs aren't that much. Assuming you don't have issues with port forwarding (and you know this if you download say a torrent from the pirate bay or other open tracker and look for a I in the peer's flags), just that this tracker incentivizes seeding, and so it's not unusual to download gigabytes but upload kilobytes. It's why I said you would be better off looking at freeleech torrents, and sort them by leechers. Right now the 240G Sketchy Sex collection is freeleech and it seems to have lots of leechers. It's got some good models in it if you love creampies. But downloading a bunch of active freeleech torrents and seeding them is the best way to get started. Doesn't matter if you have to end up downloading stuff you don't particularly care about (like solos and stuff) but the whole point is to get your ratios up and grabbing freelech with lots of leechers is the best way to go about this.
