@Aerethiel It is supposed to prevent that kind of thing in theory, but the big players to the market in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron) all have such DPI systems, which absolutely CAN and DO decrypt. Until Bill C-9 passed just recently, this practice was highly illegal, but since the passing of that bill, it has become the "standard" practice. There are other countries like Turkey that come to mind that have the same kind of DPI system. I don't know if their systems can read the actual traffic though to tell what kind it is, or if they can see the actual content as well, but I know in Canada (and likely also the USA), the big player providers (and by extension, the government) can not only see what kind of traffic is being transmitted, but they can also see the content of the traffic too. This means that for anyone who has smart home gadgets or appliances that connect to their home network, the government absolutely DOES know what you have, what you've got things set to, when you're home or not home, and so much more, as they read all the data from such gadgets to keep track of the people. It's actually kind of scary. Sadly even in Canada, especially with the recent passing of Bill C-9, a VPN doesn't help... It will keep other people on the internet from seeing what you're up to, or even seeing where and who you really are, but it absolutely will NOT stop the government from prying into your business.

@cp2000 there is an app on the mac app store called muxy that lets you combine videos and export them as an mp4, so you can take your faves and combine them and then watch them easily all together anytime. It is so you don't have to spend time putting the wall together each time.

@lololulu19 said in Invalid Characters imported from GTRUORG: @flozen I very rarely do. It seems to be something new. I generally filter out weird characters. I noticed so many files with weird characters lately that I even complained to the uploader. Two times when I tried uploading files with weird characters in the past week, I had a nightmare trying to find the problem QTM was having with them. I found the problem finally, after jackny told me what the cause of the problem was. Afraid I don't use QTM - I'm old-school in a fashion - plus I usually seed from Linux systems My knowledge of the different type-sets (character sets) comes professionally, not from torrenting... Linux vs. Windows vs. MacOS vs Mainframe...

I'd be deeply suspicious of a free VPN. Fundamentally, a VPN is just tunneling your Internet traffic through someone else's computer. That gives an unscrupulous VPN operator a whole lot of opportunities -- spy on your traffic, inject ads or malware, etc. Reputable VPN providers wouldn't do this, of course, because they'd be dragged over the coals and go out of business when it was discovered. But if someone's not charging for a VPN service, I'd question what their motives are. It's possible they're just a privacy advocate with pure motives, but it could also be a lot more sinister.

@osiris3 Here's a step by step. I'm gonna start from the very beginning so anyone looking at this can do it. It only works for people you are subscribed to. Go to any OF page and click on the lightning bolt in the circle, in your extension bar. Click "select user" and find the person you want to download When the next bit becomes visible, you can pick and choose what and when you want to find stuff from. I always do "everything until today". click the spy glass. wait until it finds what you asked for when it's done searching, you can choose either Photos or Videos, by ticking the box or ticking both if you like now select XTRACT SELECTED don't leave the page until it's done downloading do the same again but check to see if they have archived stuff and get that if you are interested

These situations can be a big PIA when they happen. Some of our fully furnished residences even include computers. There have been only two instances in which our help was requested to deal with *ware, and both times surprisingly were a result of visiting religious sites. The most-used item for some will be the browser, and there are portable versions available that one can put on a flash thumb drive, and make yet another copy (with all desired bookmarks, etc.) onto a separate flash thumb drive. It will be an ongoing battle to deal with issues like this, simply because what one person can build, another can destroy.

Try free download manager. If the website has a download button, then free download manager may automatically grab it and start downloading the film.

Sometimes clearing browser history cache is important, this will eliminate old stored data from your PC and improve browsing performance… https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-clear-your-browser-cache/ Reducing amount of bandwidth download/upload speed as bc22 mentioned are also very helpful… This will reduce amount of CPU being used... Also clearing DNS cache is also important... example: DNS server overload in the case of a high number of visitors. Error messages like “DNS Server Not Responding” are a common and despised consequence. Some helpful link I included below [related to browsing behavior]… https://www.ionos.com/digitalguide/server/configuration/flush-dns/#:~:text=For%20this%20reason%2C%20operating%20systems,valid%20for%20a%20given%20time. https://www.noip.com/support/knowledgebase/how-do-i-flush-my-windows-dns-cache/ https://www.a2hosting.com/kb/getting-started-guide/internet-and-networking/clearing-the-dns-cache-on-your-computer

@MrMazda: As a general rule, we frown upon these files as they only serve to add space to the torrent, which isn't necessary to the downloading of the torrent. @ Mr Mazda Yes I totally agree on this… [unwanted or junk files taking up space]

This would appear to be a DNS issue on your end. You may want to try switching to Google DNS by using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers.

The only other thing I might recommend is downloading the K-Lite Codec Mega Pack from www.codecguide.com It has many of the codecs that are either hard to find, or you otherwise have to pay for with the newer versions of Windows, unless you install them for free from the codec pack.
