@Aerethiel It is supposed to prevent that kind of thing in theory, but the big players to the market in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron) all have such DPI systems, which absolutely CAN and DO decrypt. Until Bill C-9 passed just recently, this practice was highly illegal, but since the passing of that bill, it has become the "standard" practice. There are other countries like Turkey that come to mind that have the same kind of DPI system. I don't know if their systems can read the actual traffic though to tell what kind it is, or if they can see the actual content as well, but I know in Canada (and likely also the USA), the big player providers (and by extension, the government) can not only see what kind of traffic is being transmitted, but they can also see the content of the traffic too. This means that for anyone who has smart home gadgets or appliances that connect to their home network, the government absolutely DOES know what you have, what you've got things set to, when you're home or not home, and so much more, as they read all the data from such gadgets to keep track of the people. It's actually kind of scary. Sadly even in Canada, especially with the recent passing of Bill C-9, a VPN doesn't help... It will keep other people on the internet from seeing what you're up to, or even seeing where and who you really are, but it absolutely will NOT stop the government from prying into your business.

@cp2000 there is an app on the mac app store called muxy that lets you combine videos and export them as an mp4, so you can take your faves and combine them and then watch them easily all together anytime. It is so you don't have to spend time putting the wall together each time.

Earlier we were having problems with the servers. We should be back up and running now.

I personally use Mullvad VPN. I've been using it for about two years now. I made the decision to use it based on strong recommendations, current privacy practices (pretty secure), and ease of use (for Windows/Mac, all you need to do is download the program and it takes care of the rest).

If you copy the DVD content files (VOB files) on your hard drive and you can open them without issue, it should be fine. As long as you can read them on your computer without the original DVD inside, it should be good for anyone. I don't think porn DVD were protected, from what I remember. Can you tell more about your process? If I understand correctly, you create images of DVD (>> .iso or .img files) then you mount them later and play them with the player of your choice, right? (because in this process, the image could be encrypted anyway, the player will decrypt it. But I'm not entirely sure. I always used DVD ripper softwares)

This isn't very much smarter but it might be just a little bit less cumbersome. If you copy all the text from the web-page and then paste it into a text editor window. Use a text editor than only supports plain text, or one that will convert it into plain text. Now you should have something that is easier to work with that contains the text you require but with quite a bit of other text. A lot of that other text is repetitive and so can be removed with find/replace. If you are any good with regular expressions in text find/replace then you could remove most of the unwanted text in a few actions. However just having all the text from the web-page in a plain text window will be easier to work with than the web-page.

I have an application called Movavi Video Converter (cost about $75 US, I think) that converts video formats, resolutions, etc.  If a DMCA-tagged video were converted with that kind of software, would the tags be preserved?

@beststriker: Internet Download Manager - Only one I would recommend :cheesy2: I have tried IDM many years ago, and I was not impressed. I tried it again a few days ago… they have improved it a LOT! I LOVE it!

@Sportif: @apanbl92: Does anyone know how to download videos in private communities from vk.com? I used to it with flash video downloader and i've tried different extensions on chrome but nothing works. Help! Gotta love when ppl ask for simple answers and the question is ignored. Social media darkweb politics aside… Internet Download Manager almost always triggers for video downloads on VK for me. Google crackpatching + IDM if $$$ is a problem. Thanks for that info Sportif..  I haven't used IDM in a LONG time.. I need to try it out again.

Late response but it may help someone else. You are inserting another point in your network traffic…. there is always going to be some impact to bandwidth no matter what the service states. Switch to another server that is closer to your location. If you are trying to get around region-based IP blocks try switching to another server &/or location in your client. The server you;re on could simply be overloaded. One with fewer users could be noticeably faster. If you are torrenting kill IPv6. A lot of providers do not fully support IPv6 and leaking occurs. Check with your provider to find out if they fully support it and hit the those "what is my IP" pages to see if you have leaks. Some specificly target IPv6.

@eobox91103: Thanks very much for the information! Both my desktop workstation, and laptop ("Latitude" series, not a workstation but still high end), have SSD for the primary drive.  I have lots of backup drives, always synched (they're so cheap these days).  I'm not as concerned about losing data as I am the overall hassle, but you're giving me courage.  I might try it on the laptop first. If you do give it a try make a backup image of your drive this is so it's easy to restore if you ever want to go back also recommend them to people in case they ever run into problems it's better way to revert back then using things like system restore. I find it's better to keep Win 7 on laptop if that is what it was built for and then try out new stuff on main system which should be less hassle anyway laptops can be lot more annoying. Don't buy Win10 if you do give it a try or activate it you have 30 days free use only if you like it then activate or purchase a key online for like $10 it's pro version you want. I expect you may not stick with it but it's your choice i really dislike win 10 but i have it on one of my machines due to intel on latest chipset forced people to use it. it's also worth looking into things like open-shell to give it back more of the old style

No Debrid site covers those two hosts. I did see one multi host site claiming to offer with small daily limits for those two but can't 100% say if it really works (linkifier) Upstore is iffy company which is why you don't see many offering it also expensive for restricted bandwidth limits.
