@Aerethiel It is supposed to prevent that kind of thing in theory, but the big players to the market in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron) all have such DPI systems, which absolutely CAN and DO decrypt. Until Bill C-9 passed just recently, this practice was highly illegal, but since the passing of that bill, it has become the "standard" practice. There are other countries like Turkey that come to mind that have the same kind of DPI system. I don't know if their systems can read the actual traffic though to tell what kind it is, or if they can see the actual content as well, but I know in Canada (and likely also the USA), the big player providers (and by extension, the government) can not only see what kind of traffic is being transmitted, but they can also see the content of the traffic too. This means that for anyone who has smart home gadgets or appliances that connect to their home network, the government absolutely DOES know what you have, what you've got things set to, when you're home or not home, and so much more, as they read all the data from such gadgets to keep track of the people. It's actually kind of scary. Sadly even in Canada, especially with the recent passing of Bill C-9, a VPN doesn't help... It will keep other people on the internet from seeing what you're up to, or even seeing where and who you really are, but it absolutely will NOT stop the government from prying into your business.

@cp2000 there is an app on the mac app store called muxy that lets you combine videos and export them as an mp4, so you can take your faves and combine them and then watch them easily all together anytime. It is so you don't have to spend time putting the wall together each time.

Me neither. It upgraded and works like a charm The only big lag i've encountered so far is that  the visual styles from 3.5 are no longer supported.

Several VPNs do work with torrents.  Read what they offer and the privacy statements. As amice said, be sure that you set µTorrent to use the VPN. Some VPNs offer dedicated IPs too, no sharing the external IP. That will get you around the 5 connections from 1 IP limit on the tracker, that is, if you ever encounter that problem -I doubt you will.

Just an addition: Open office (writer) offers a M$-Word alternative Office system (free) and also a pdf creation possibility. All in all Open Office is a better (and cheaper) alternative to M$ office and can also import (and export) from/into M$ office formats.

Hi family, What I had been experiencing when I made this post just over two months ago had been lasting for a couple of weeks.  This problem continued to last a couple of weeks. Whatever the problem with xtube, it seems to have been corrected some time ago. I really appreciate the sorta related post at http://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=11496.0 providing more ideas about converting .flv to other more mainstream formats. Regards, TimF GT.ru staff hXXp://xtube.com/community/profile.php?user=Kinsey6 (for well over 1000 "favorites")

SATA II hard drives are better and cheaper nowadays.  Make sure it's 7,200rpm or faster, as the 5,400rpm HDDs are pretty sluggish when 500gb and over in size. With a good inkjet printer, some full face printable discs and Accoustica CD/DVD Label Maker, you would be a lot better off than with Lightscribe and the expensive discs that it needs. External speakers and a decent monitor would also be on the cards.

You need a VPN, of course. I can't vouch for any of the VPN services, marky. But Relakks ( hXXp://www.relakks.com/ ) is cheap at just € 45,00 for 12 months. Relakks is located in Sweden, so it will not give you access to Hulu videos (should you happen to be outside the USA). But it will do a fine job of hiding your IP address and encrypting your torrent traffic. Another one to look at is Happy VPN ( hXXp://www.happy-vpn.com/ ). Happy VPN is unique in that it can be configured to give you access to both USA-only video sites (like Hulu) and UK-only sites (like the BBC).

If the file is small I do it from my pc, otherwise I use my seedbox. "Is it worth it", well we can't answer that for you, only you can answer that.  However I can give you a of help for you to decide for yourself. 1. Do you do a lot of torrents? 2. Do you need your computer for other things? 3. Do you turn off your computer a lot during the week; ie over night? 4. Do you share the computer? If you answered YES to any of those, you might want to consider a seedbox. It's difficult to recommend a seedbox because it varies by region.  In Europe and North America {probably others as well} you can get full severs that you control or purpose built seedboxes that are completely setup for you to do torrents.  Getting a server tends to be a better value as you get a larger size hard drive for the same cost.  On the flip side is if you don't really know computers, then a pre built seedbox is a better value as it's all done for you.

  • Torrent vs. Magnet ; DHT ? On other torrent sites

depending on what client is used. normally, DHT can't ruin anyone's ratio at all, yet it's totally useless for private trackers in general, since it only provides nothing else but list of peers. uTorrent, for instance, needs the exact torrent-file hashes so that it can take some avail from DHT. as long as every user has his own passkey which is "stamped" into his torrents, these torrents differ from other torrents, hence DHT can't "find" them. much more dangerous {and possibly harmful} is the function of "sharing torrents" implemented in some clients. this is also useful only, if both sides use the same client. however, it may reveal your passkey. as for this tracker, i think, i already "discovered" the "security hole" alleged by some users. in fact it's no "security hole" but the users' mistake, because of misunderstanding some tracker facilities. if you aren't sure what some of them are about, better safe than sorry and post your querry. i can't unveil the details in public, since many greedy downloaders might misuse this information for their purpose at the expense of the unaware users.
