@frostycab i mean, to your credit, the message says the button is just below

RE: Convert to AV1 format using ab-av1
Tagging @mrmazda and @kalayaan to make this a more contextualized report, they can check if both torrents were uploaded by the same person.
Ultimately what's more important is that both torrents are photo collections and most files are 100% duplicates, the video files are the only difference.
Also you guys need to chill on those AI overviews, it's getting out of hand.

RE: Bonus Points Not Increasing
@durrenn if you only need 14 points it is faster if you go through your downloaded torrents and vote for the correct categories.
For each voted torrent you get 2 points, so you only need to vote for 7 torrents.

RE: Top Torrents
@Kevin4fm @kevin4fm you can try it in the test section: https://community.gaytor.rent/category/16/test-section-for-our-members
@markymark123 the homepage shows torrents that are trending in the last few hours, but in the search page you can now also sort by popular this week/month/year in case you want to give it a try.

RE: Re-seed Tool for Windows users
@thedude99 unfortunately the issue you're describing is not solvable, this is by design of the bittorrent protocol.
In the initial implementation of bittorrent, torrent pieces have a fixed size, multiple files can overlap in a same piece, and the most common outcome of this is that the beginning of a file will share the same piece as the end of the previous file.
You cannot partially seed a piece, you need the whole thing. If the filr you're trying to seed overlaps with another file, you need to have that part of the other file. Even if you never downloaded that file in the first place, the torrent client will still have downloaded it and stored it in a special folder or file.
After you remove that torrent from your client and getting rid of that special file, any attempt to seed this file will lead to the client trying to download the remaining bytes of that torrent piece.
There's nothing that I or you could do about this, sadly. The only solution to this is to stop using v1 protocol to create torrent files, but after the torrent file is created, we can't do a thing.
What that means for your particular case is that, if you're the only person reseeding, no one will ever be able to finish it, and the only solution is for you to create a brand new torrent with the files you have.

RE: Torrents Being Uploaded Without At Least One Image
@Kevin4fm seriously, there's been a horde of uploads without any picture, can't really blame the uploaders tho, the site should prevent those uploads, it is supposed to but apparently there's a bug.
Now what truly boils my blood are those mfs who upload a series of torrents of the same buy one after another, with 1 file per torrent, instead of making a folder.
Thank God I'm not a mod because I would uphold their upload rights for that.

RE: Is this a question?
I poke every little button at least once just to see if it does something funny:

hopefully now that we can edit posts, you can go back and toggle that on

RE: Can't download anything AT ALL!!
@Boilovesgayp he is complaining that most mobile clients struggle with the gaytorrent tracker which is actually true and something worth being looked into.

RE: Torrents Being Uploaded Without At Least One Image
@frostycab @Kevin4fm I am unsure if this really is a new bug, because even in the old site I still have a vague memory of torrents missing pictures in the search page even though they had at least one visible in details page. It followed the pattern: upload is submitted without pictures, and they are added latter.

RE: From 2006 to 2026 — a word about the new site
Is it just me or do the thumbnails seem different in the new site, as though they have been run through an AI image editor / generator rather than being proper screenshots?
I definitely appreciate the premise of modernization, but would be nice to actually see what the torrent contains

are you sure you aren't just in the AI category?

RE: Gratitude Instead of Attitude
@willingmouth to me it really doesn't matter how someone obtains their files, if it's expensive, if it's a pain in the butt, once you decide to share it here of all places, you should follow the good practices of a decent presentation.
i'll never understand how someone would go to great lengths to create an amazing collection with names, titles, dates, only to sell it short in something as easy as providing previews.
when you provide previews you increase the number of people who will be interested in obtaining that collection.
when i see a torrent with hundreds of files and no thumbs, all the effort you put into into are wasted because i will not be downloading everything to find out if it's something i'm interested in.
with thumbnails, people might decide to download only certain files, which already is traffic that otherwise you'll not get at all, but in most cases seeing the thumbs is enough to be convinced that everything is worth downloading.
why would any uploader want people to download mysterious files? i understand that one might think the content is really good so thumbs are not required, but after someone spends their ratio downloading it because they are curious or feeling lucky, once they find that it's not what they expected, there's no way to recover that ratio, in many cases.
when you're early to the distribution, sure, you can easily seed enough to recover, but after hours, days, when you're the only leecher in the swarm, it's not a risk everyone is willing to take.
i know that this is not an excuse to the aggressive and inconsiderate ways some members choose to express their discontent, but in the end of the day it's up to the uploader to absorb whatever feedback they get from the work they're putting, deciding if it's worth the change, or just stop posting at all as a punishment to the complainers.
i only speak to myself that whenever i upload anything there will always be thumbnails, even if it's just one file. this is something that i value when i'm choosing what to download so i could never simply decide to not do.
long story short, either if you just want to be helpful, or if you are doing it for the upload traffic and the bonus points, the thumbs will only add value, increase the chance of it being downloaded by more people and make them be more appreciative of your efforts.

RE: [Software Release] GayTor.rent Upload Utility
@eonflux be my guest to try this tool: https://github.com/lucassantillifuck2fa/ttf/tree/main
Let me know if you find it useful or if it's not working for you. -
RE: WTH is that?
@frostycab technically yes, it is a different site, with different protections, if the site keeps serving those instead of real pictures it means that, to that site, the user behavior is abusive/predatory. This can be triggered more frequently if you have a shared IP (CG-NAT) or if you use third party tools to scrape the site.

RE: What is the best client to use in 2026?
@vaylon I like qbittorrent because it's the most straightforward/no bullshit client available, and is completely open source. My only complaint is that I don't get the best speeds, I feel like there's something about it that is capping me.
I have tried another client called BiglyBT and if I'm being honest, I almost had an aneurysm, that thing is made for highly functional autistic people, see if you make the cut.

Thanks, sorry for explaing it wrong I already have the torrent downloaded and the files are on my hd. The torrent file is gone but Im getting a reseed request from from the system messages. Because I dont know where the files are on my storage and in what dir but I know I have them. Im looking for a tool in can plop the .torrent file in and tell me where the files it needs are. I know torent keep file hashes stored. It is something that can be done... But only if you don't rename the video files.
If you only move them as is, you can find them again without having to hash anything, relying exclusively on simple properties like filename and size in bytes. There isn't any tool for this at the present moment, I'm only writing to let you know that is something doable and not too complicated.
But if you re-encode or change the filenames, then forget about it.

RE: Question about the "Search In" filter
@frostycab i finally managed to trace the root of your problem. In the settings, in the search tab, there are sliders to set the default state for "name, description, filename"
If you enable any of those options, any search you perform will fall back to that rule, even if toggle them manually in the search panel, and it seemingly being applied, under the hood the rules being applied are still the ones you have in your settings.
I never enabled any of those options, while I was trying to reproduce your results, everything only worked as expected.
Definitely something for Joker to investigate.
In the meantime you can disable the default values in your preferences.

RE: [Software Release] GayTor.rent Upload Utility
@eonflux one issue with Windows users is always assuming everyone else is on Windows too! Now the terrible news: i cannot make a Linux version because 1 i don't know how and 2 the search engine I used is exclusive to Windows.
Sorry about that 🫢
