RE: How to configure default sort order in search results?
So sorry for bumping this, but the site seemingly has introduced another setting that seems to break the current settings and resorts to always sorting by relevance regardless of settings :

The default was Smart (Relevance when searching, Newest otherwise). I've changed mine to Newest first, but search does not keep this setting. Going to homepage and doing a search :

still results in results being sorted by relevance, and this despite changing the sort order of the results to Newest first and having activated the "Don't auto-switch to Relevance when I search".

It's very frustrating. Why does this site keep wanting to sort by relevance? Can the owners correct this?
That is a known bug, ever since the search bar was introduced in the home page, it always resorts to relevance sort regardless of your preferences. But in the proper search page your settings should work as expected.

RE: Re-seed Tool for Windows users
@thedude99 unfortunately the issue you're describing is not solvable, this is by design of the bittorrent protocol.
In the initial implementation of bittorrent, torrent pieces have a fixed size, multiple files can overlap in a same piece, and the most common outcome of this is that the beginning of a file will share the same piece as the end of the previous file.
You cannot partially seed a piece, you need the whole thing. If the filr you're trying to seed overlaps with another file, you need to have that part of the other file. Even if you never downloaded that file in the first place, the torrent client will still have downloaded it and stored it in a special folder or file.
After you remove that torrent from your client and getting rid of that special file, any attempt to seed this file will lead to the client trying to download the remaining bytes of that torrent piece.
There's nothing that I or you could do about this, sadly. The only solution to this is to stop using v1 protocol to create torrent files, but after the torrent file is created, we can't do a thing.
What that means for your particular case is that, if you're the only person reseeding, no one will ever be able to finish it, and the only solution is for you to create a brand new torrent with the files you have.

RE: Usernames being revealed in emails
@frostycab like Kevin said, the idea is that the uploader's identity is preserved until he decides if they will reply or not. I have noticed that it doesn't quite work, as the username is not revealed in the mailbox, although I admit I didn't even notice it was revealed in the emails.
Short answer: it's definitely a bug.

RE: Who to PM for dead torrent takedown requests
@Aznstan i don't think there's any chance that you'll contact a moderator asking to delete a torrent only so you can upload it again.
If you have the files you can reseed it, then contact a mod and ask the torrent to be recycled so it goes back to the main page with a new date (without you having to upload a new torrent)

RE: Is it safe to order a custom vudeo from Fetishnetwork?
I was planning to place an order for a custom video for a stepdad/stepson sex video butI am afraid that it is a scam. There's no single tutorial on how the process works.
How do I pay them, if there's any kind of additional charge besides the one they have, if I can select the men who will play at my video, and where the video will be delivered?
I would appreciate any kind of insight!
Here's the linkhttp://gay.fetishnetwork.com/t2/custom-fetish-videos/?&nats=typein.4.103.272.0.0.0.0.0
It appears that they work as a middleman between you and the producer of your choice. Without having an account there I can only guess, but most likely what happens is, you pick a producer, pitches your script/request, and if they accept the request, they'll name a value, the website will add their own interest to that value and come up with a final price, and if you accept and pay it to the website, the producer will be fully responsible for fulfilling the request and submitting it to that website where it'll be available exclusively for you.
Personally I don't think it's a scam, but the gay-related parts of the site seem to be pretty much broken, everything leads to different error pages all the time, at least in my brief experience.

RE: Lack Of Upload Speed Since Site Change
@willow1 the tracker has nothing to do with the speeds you get in your torrent client, this might be just a coincidence if it started when the new site launched. the tracker only serves as a peer list that instructs your client on who to connect with, if you get low speeds it will be because either you or the peer you've connected with have a speed limit.
so to clarify, there is no upload system and download system controlling speeds or anything of the sorts.
i don't know to which extent there could be a real problem with your machine/client, because you said you've managed to reach a 2:1 ratio in various freeleech torrents, which indicates you're properly able to seed.

RE: Convert to AV1 format using ab-av1
@Kevin4fm a mod cannot make decisions based on the container alone, because being MKV doesn't equal to having soft-coded subs. For example take a MP4 movie, add chapters marking each scene and make it a MKV, the video stream is 100% identical, but one has a thing that the other doesn't... And still the file sizes are virtually identical. Would that be a duplicate? If you ask me, I have no fucking idea, glad I'm not a mod

Because the duplicate rule is for very simple cases, it must be extrapolated for edge cases, and mods will inevitably resort to their own discretion to decide. One mod probably would delete what another wouldn't, following the exact same rule, like a soccer referee.

RE: What to do after seeding torrents in the website?
Over at Torrentday you are required to seed all of your downloads to either a 1:1 ratio OR at least 72 hours within 30 days, the idea being to discourage hit & runs. If for any reason you can't then you can pay off any remaining time/MB with upload credit or points. I've advocated for doing the same here in the past but it was never taken up. Perhaps Joker and the rest of the staff here might have a discussion around it? With the whole site being updated now would be the ideal time to make the necessary technical changes.
That is a terrible rule, there is no real gain for the tracker or for the users, hit & run is only a real problem in public trackers. In private communities, the ratio determines if and what amount users are allowed to download, that alone is a solid measure that discourages hit & run.
We definitely don't need to tighten up penalties for h&r when it is not a problem that we currently face in the community. If anything, it would be best to favor practices that encourage members to stay seeding indefinitely, not only for 72 hours.
I have said this before and some of the response I got was that people should not be awarded for doing what everyone is here to do, which is a stupid argument that overlooks exactly what I am saying, which is.... People don't really care about seeding if they've reached 1:1 or seeded for a given time.
That's the real issue that needs to be addressed, there's no incentive to keep torrents alive.
