@Aerethiel It is supposed to prevent that kind of thing in theory, but the big players to the market in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron) all have such DPI systems, which absolutely CAN and DO decrypt. Until Bill C-9 passed just recently, this practice was highly illegal, but since the passing of that bill, it has become the "standard" practice. There are other countries like Turkey that come to mind that have the same kind of DPI system. I don't know if their systems can read the actual traffic though to tell what kind it is, or if they can see the actual content as well, but I know in Canada (and likely also the USA), the big player providers (and by extension, the government) can not only see what kind of traffic is being transmitted, but they can also see the content of the traffic too. This means that for anyone who has smart home gadgets or appliances that connect to their home network, the government absolutely DOES know what you have, what you've got things set to, when you're home or not home, and so much more, as they read all the data from such gadgets to keep track of the people. It's actually kind of scary. Sadly even in Canada, especially with the recent passing of Bill C-9, a VPN doesn't help... It will keep other people on the internet from seeing what you're up to, or even seeing where and who you really are, but it absolutely will NOT stop the government from prying into your business.

@cp2000 there is an app on the mac app store called muxy that lets you combine videos and export them as an mp4, so you can take your faves and combine them and then watch them easily all together anytime. It is so you don't have to spend time putting the wall together each time.

Thanks guys for all the replies! Yes, sadly it does appear that images can now be tracked although it seems it is not widespread at the  moment. And 'in the doghouse' means that someone is angry at you. It is similar to 'having to sleep on the sofa.' Not the best place to be!

@addidasjock: Looking through the torrents seeded, it appears that low upload rates are due to missing downloading peers. I've made 5 torrents out of them with a low seed number freeleech. If missing downloading peers are the issue, you should see soon a short spike in your upload rate.

If it is that, can you look if all your torrent's from GayTorrent.ru tracker announce URL begin with "https://tracker.gaytor.rent/…" (means with https, without :2710 and with .ru, not .tw)? If not, can you change all to the https beginning? Then inspection by your ISP of the packets should be difficult (or practically impossible?).

No reason or need to use IPv6 - especially with regard to a bittorrent client. First of all your ISP most likely doesn't support it, and your router probably doesn't either. Second, Teredo is a known security risk.  And third - most important - IPv6 gives your computer a GUID (Globally Unique IDentifier) that is not present with IPv4.  Meaning as it works now, unless you hook directly into an unfirewalled network (ie: directly to a cable modem or PPPoE terminal without a router in between), the 'fingerprint' of your computer never actually goes out to the public internet.  The router's NAT function hides your computer's 'true identity'. So any data requested by your computer through the router basically looks like the router requested it, no matter whose router you are connected to.   The issue with IPv6 is that your computer has a "Globally Unique" IP address that doesn't change when you connect to different networks, and it remains intact through routers. It basically becomes the computer's thumbprint.  It becomes very easy to track what you've done on the internet, where you do it, what times you do it, etc.  It's bad enough that copyright trolls file lawsuits against John Doe @ <ip address="">in the hopes that you'll settle..  Do you really want to give them proof that it was in fact your computer that was seeding a torrent?</ip>

@rasavenger: How can I move my account to another computer ( and the seeding files)? Plz help! "µTorrent User Manual > Chapter 03: Advanced Guides Migrating to Another Location In some cases, you might find that you need to move your files, be it due to simple reorganization, possibly to reinstall Windows, or maybe even to move µTorrent and all the torrent jobs along with their contents to a new computer. In any case, the process is simple, though it can turn out to be a lengthy one. Realize that along the way, you might lose your accumulated statistics for each torrent job, but that does not mean you lose the statistics on the associated trackers, so do not fret about that. Reinstalling Your Operating System In the simplest of cases, reinstalling your operating system only requires you to make a backup of the data onto a new drive or partition if the torrent contents and µTorrent settings directory are located on the same drive or partition as the operating system you are trying to reinstall. After everything is completed, you simply have to move the files back to their previous locations, and µTorrent will resume everything without issue. If you did not have an encapsulated "installation" of µTorrent, then make sure you have the same username before moving the settings directory back into %AppData%. If you are unable to perform any of the above, you will have to take the long route of performing the migration as if you were really moving the torrent contents. Moving to a New Computer Migrating µTorrent to a new computer simply requires that you copy your files to your new hard drive, along with backing up the entire µTorrent settings directory. The most difficult part of this process comes with the placement of the µTorrent directory and the torrent contents. If you want to complete the process with minimal effort, it becomes a simple matter of making sure the paths for all the files related to µTorrent and the torrent contents on the new computer are identical to the respective paths on the old computer. If you had an encapsulated "installation" of µTorrent, an identical username is not necessary. Otherwise, if the µTorrent settings directory was located in %AppData%\uTorrent, then you will have to create a user with the same exact account name on the new computer as on the old computer, then move the µTorrent settings directory into the proper location on disk. If you plan on moving the drive over to the new computer, then as long as the drive letter remains the same, you save yourself the headache of dealing with paths. Otherwise, if you're going to copy the files from the old drive to the new drive, then you should make sure the torrent contents' paths remain identical. If any of those tips fail, and you are unable to keep paths identical for either the settings directory or the torrent contents, then you're in for a very long ride, and will have to perform everything as if you had moved the torrent contents. Moving Torrent Contents This process, if you haven't already figured it out, might require the most amount of time out of any of the "migration" processes, as it might require that you allow µTorrent to verify the data integrity of the torrent contents after the move. What's time consuming isn't really the procedure itself, but the fact that rechecking can take a lot of time, depending on the torrent contents' sizes, and how many different torrent jobs you want to move. All that's needed when you're moving torrent contents is that you stop the torrent job in µTorrent, move the torrent contents to wherever you need them to be, set the download location for each associated torrent job for the moved contents, and start the torrent job. If µTorrent doesn't recognize the existing data, stop the torrent job and force re-check for each relevant torrent job." (Source: Utorrent´s manual/guide)

I do not have curse words that rightly give justice to how this tech is making me feel. It has switched back to ignoring the HDMI input.  The splash screen still comes up so I know they are at least connected but then poo. So I go back to try everything except for my special African Foot Dance (I can only perform that under circumstances I'd rather not elaborate on) hoping against hope that something shakes something & I can have HighDef again. So I came across a suggestion involving my model TV and the WD players but it scares me so if anyone's made it this far your thoughts on shaving off some of the plastic from the plug exposing more of the metal on the HDMI cable? Demonstrated thusly: BEFORE                       ,–-------------,  <- plastic cable              |                  |----, ==========|                  |    |  <-metal                       |                  |----´                       `---------------´ AFTER                       ,-------------,                       |                |------, ==========|                |      |                       |                |------´                       `-------------´

On one hand, I'm not surprised that such a security hole exists, given that Grindr uses your device's GPS to locate your exact location to find out who is nearby. If they were to properly secure this little flaw, this would only allow you to use the GPS function for determining approximate distance, rather than being able to see the full position information.

I don't use linux so I can't give you a precise guidance but the procedure should be similar on linux. To make gifs I make images for every frames using potplayer (most video players can do that, just look at the options) and then I convert all the frames to a gif using gimp (I think you can install it on linux). If software on linux is unsatisfactory you can always install windows software in wine or virtualbox. I personnaly don't use gifs. I extract small parts of videos and convert them to videos that are playable in the browser (html5) using command line with ffmpeg. It's like gifs but better in every way, quality and sound.

I don't follow a lot of Mac news… but I remember reading somewhere that a recent update restored a feature back with respect to photos.  Perhaps this is what you're seeing, and perhaps you can Google for news related to this and see if there is an update.

While I may not know of a proxy service that's available in China, I do know of a few VPN services, which will render the same end result in the sense that they will make you appear to the internet to be using an IP address from within China. The downfall to most free proxy services is that they're not an anonymous proxy, which allows them to reveal your original IP address for tracking purposes, which may be why the connection is being rejected. A VPN (preferably PPTP) on the other hand will not expose your direct IP address in any manner, thus getting around that issue.

I like Camstudio.  http://camstudio.org/  Completely free and it works with a huge amount of codecs.  Experiment with it a bit to find the best codec for length to size ratio you desire.   And then be sure to Upload any good ones for the rest of us to watch!  As a Warning… Be careful with the installer...it comes with a lot of Bloatware designed to make you click accept without reading the nonsense.  You can still continue if you click Refuse or Decline on the first handful of the ones it asks.  Otherwise it will download and installed a ton of stupid nonsense.

@Pawpcorn: Since I haven't been one to suffer uTorrent crashing…. WHY (and how?) do members experience the problem of uTorrent "crashing" ??? Actually Pawpcorn that's a good question.  The user that requested a means to have uTorrent auto-restart said he had 800+ torrents in it, and thought that might have been part of the reason for it crashing.  I gave him advice on cleaning it up (how to select and remove multiple torrents at once) but then I also thought the script was a kinda fun challenge for a a couple of hours (well not long to write, longer to test it properly It could be used for any process that might exit unexpectedly…  Or hell.. if you changed the checking interval to much longer, you could even use in unexpected ways, like to occasionally do a backup or something Nick

I could also have something to do with the program you used to download the videos.  I generally use Netvideo Hunter on Firefox.  It seems to find the actual source files and let's be download them.  90% of the time I seem to get .mp4 files.  This could also have to do with the sites I'm downloading from… but generally if it won't play on MPC or FLV your video files are probably junk.

You're showing as connected and the 2 torrents you're downloading are being seeded. You are not registering on GT.ru tracker as seedig anything. Check your uTorrent QUEUE settings to assure you have allowed seeding/downloading and have the appropriate number of slots available. OPTIONS>> PREFERENCES >> QUEUING

@Gambit1313: did try to take a look at the page's source code to see if there as a directly accessible link the .MP4 file I wanted. You want a program that uses RTMPDump. There's a list here: http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/
