IPv6/teredo

I found a new button on uTorrent and after a web search I still not sure about whether to use it or not.
Under general>preferences there is a button with install IPv6/teredo
The button showed up after I did port forwarding and I also installed a skin on uTorrent.
Anybody want to fill me in on what this does?
PS. Windows 8.1 updated today.

No reason or need to use IPv6 - especially with regard to a bittorrent client. First of all your ISP most likely doesn't support it, and your router probably doesn't either. Second, Teredo is a known security risk. And third - most important - IPv6 gives your computer a GUID (Globally Unique IDentifier) that is not present with IPv4. Meaning as it works now, unless you hook directly into an unfirewalled network (ie: directly to a cable modem or PPPoE terminal without a router in between), the 'fingerprint' of your computer never actually goes out to the public internet. The router's NAT function hides your computer's 'true identity'. So any data requested by your computer through the router basically looks like the router requested it, no matter whose router you are connected to. The issue with IPv6 is that your computer has a "Globally Unique" IP address that doesn't change when you connect to different networks, and it remains intact through routers. It basically becomes the computer's thumbprint. It becomes very easy to track what you've done on the internet, where you do it, what times you do it, etc. It's bad enough that copyright trolls file lawsuits against John Doe @ <ip address="">in the hopes that you'll settle.. Do you really want to give them proof that it was in fact your computer that was seeding a torrent?</ip>
