@tmwilko said in Unable to load a created GT torrent on Utorrent: Admittedly the torrent is large at 125 GB but I have 127 GB free space on my harddrive besides this file for the torrent. Windows/OS need @least enough disk space to run properly, Programs will not run correctly if the resources are full, 2 GB of free space is understood lack of disk space ... Your best option is to transfer your files into external hdd or ssd external drives w/c are cheaper nowadays except ssd [solid state drive/device] ... Now if your files are transferred from external drive you can download and re-check the files even if your external drive is almost full, as long as it is connected from your PC and point it correctly ... In addition remove or uninstall programs that are unnecessary and delete large unwanted files to free from space and reduce memory hogs [however beware of deleting files that belongs to Windows operating system] ...

@ytutambien @DonnyDuzDick opening ports can be useless if the user is behind a CGNAT, which is becoming more frequent. Specially for larger ISPs, multiple clients share the same IP address, this makes them unreachable from any incoming traffic. If the seeder and the leechers are all behind a CGNAT, they cannot ever connect to each other. In this case, there are very few things that one can do, like running a VPN that supports P2P port-forwarding like Proton, or using a seedbox. But even if you do nothing, inevitably at some point a reachable user will join the swarm increase the odds for other leechers.

@Tymo87 said in Uploads working but seed not starting: Can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong here? Cheers Not with so little detail. You need to say what status your torrent client is reporting, is it "seeding" or "stalled" or something else? Also, make sure to check the tracker status, if something is wrong it will report in the "message" column: [image: 1746182603539-e674d095-4143-4755-bc36-4841ff44f33b-image.png]

I think I fixed the issue. I believe it is my NordVPN. I am using the split-tunneling feature. I turned that feature off and now I seem to be connecting.

@cp2000 As far as I know you can seed from multiple IPs with no issues. You just need to make sure that nobody else with an account here is seeding from any of them or you'll get flagged for multiple accounts. In practical terms, my advice would be to put the newest and most popular torrents in your seedbox, and only seed older and less in-demand stuff from your home connection so that you can make the most of the insane upload speeds you tend to get from a seedbox.

@Tilbert Your ISP might throttle your speeds based on your recent behavior if that is allowed in your country and stated in your agreement. What I advise you to do is, look for a torrent with high popularity in a public tracker, for instance a TV show episode that was just posted. Let it sit in your client for a few hours and see how the upload speed goes. If it caps around 600 kbps, it could be either the ISP or the VPN. You can try disabling the VPN and checking if it has any effect. In case it stays the same, you can try temporarily switching to a different network, just to confirm. If you cannot connect to a different wifi, you can share your phone's 4G/5G to your PC using a USB cable, and see if it has any effect on upload speed.

I've been using BiglyBT (formerly Azureus and then Vuze) since forever. It performs well, and gives you a lot of control over things. I particularly like the ability to automatically label and move downloads when they're added or completed, as it just simplifies things for me. I don't know if other clients might have the same functionality, but I'm used to the interface now and have no plans to change.

Of course the more torrents you have seeding, higher the chances of connecting to peers, but you need to have in mind that it is not sustainable to rely on seeding alone to keep a positive ratio. It is easier for new accounts to maintain a good ratio, but as your downloaded data increases, so increases the amount of data you are required to seed to recover your ratio. If you download 10GB in total, the amount you're required to seed in order to keep a positive ratio is 10GB. 10GB is a fairly small number, a pretty reasonable amount that is easy to seed. If you downloaded 1TB in total, now you're required to seed 1TB, which is much more unlikely. The demand on private trackers is never 1:1, meaning you will never reach 1 ratio for every torrent you download. Of course no one downloads 1TB in one go (usually), it's breaken down into much smaller bits that you download without realizing how much of an impact it will have in the future, and when you notice you have a negative ratio, despite having 1000 torrents in your client list. I use qbittorrent as my client because it's has more features compared to utorrent, for instance i can order my list by session upload: [image: 1736023008004-eb9dcefc-5a11-4396-87fa-de9ec3e16b19-image.png] This orders the list based on the amount of bytes sent since the last time the client started, which makes it more practical to track torrents with higher demand. In general, it follows a pattern, newer torrents have higher demand and are easier to seed. Older torrents might have a spike in demand if they are freeleeched. Apart from these two conditions, the torrents that you downloaded 8 months or 2 years ago will have a very low demand.

This is usually a sign of improper port forwarding. You need to make sure that the port that your torrent client uses is forwarded through your home network or VPN to your computer. This is a critical step to being able to get proper upload traffic.
