@MrMazda it still works, and it also prevents the update service from being restarted by any other service. The only way to reactivate it is through wub itself. now that i give it a thought i dont really know if it still works since i don't update mine since idk 2024 so idk it works at least for me

@raphjd: If you live in a Vodafone GigaFast (fully fibre into your house) area, then got for that.   You'll know if you live in one of the areas as they will have ripped up your sidewalks sometime in the last year. It's a PITA to get installed, but once installed, it's great. SKY is good, but very expensive compared to everyone else. Vodafone's normal broadband is good as well, and much much cheaper than SKY. Thanks for your suggestions. Would love to have fast broadband, but unfortunately, fibre isn't available where I live. Tried many times to find out if vodafone services are available in my area, but I keep getting an error message whenever I type in my postcode on the their website. Since only normal broadband is available to me, I've decided to go with Plusnet – they seem to have good reviews, and I got a good deal with them. Anyway, they can't be any worse than Talk Talk.

I hate to say this, but it's a bit true: Ratio is going to be positively impacted MOST by downloading torrents, using these tips: 1. Get ahead of the curve; try to download a torrent that has just been uploaded on the site. The newest torrents uploaded will have the fewest number of downloads; so if you get in there early enough, you'll reap the benefits of everyone else who downloads the torrent AFTER you have. BUT - you have to keep that torrent running so that it is available for those who grab the torrent after you've downloaded it. Even during the download process you'll be seeding what you currently have. So get the newest torrents possible. You can sort both Search and Browse views from the website (I think Browse is automatically set to show the latest/newest uploaded torrent in the top upper left corner). 2. If you are serious about improving your ratio, then there are times you have to download content that you may personally not care for but is quite popular with other people. Keep that in mind. To that end, scan the uploaded torrents and look for the number of users who have either already downloaded it or are in proces of downloading it. With a bit of experience you'll win begin noting what content is most popular and you can anticipate what members will be downloading the most. NEWLY RELEASED content is the most accessed, always. Content that has been around on the internet for 3 or 4 years, and uploaded as being new here on the site (which happens a lot - in my 10+ years being here, I've seen a lot of reposts of the same content, over and over again, so try to avoid this older content IF you are gunning to increase your ratio. 3. Spend some money, get a subscription to one of the site which has the content you like, and rip and upload a few torrents yourself. If you apply Tip #2 from above, and know the most desirable content, then get that. Otherwise, try to ride the wave of new content coming onto the site, especially new content that is actually new to the world. A great site to monitor new content being released by the studios is: https://www.gayeroticvideoindex.com/  Gay Erotic Video Index. Once you click "I Agree" you'll land on a page that has pictures with all new content being released from the major studios. 4. Nothing is free. You have to get smart and savvy with ratio and realize just downloading something you like or that caught your eye does not mean diddly when it comes to how that same file / size of file will affect your ratio (both down and back up). 5. There are no bad questions. Ask away, it's a learning process and no one started on this site as an expert on the sites ratio system. We've all been there.   We all needed some help somewhere along the way. Good luck! Hope these help. PS - you can check out my profile and see just how much download/uploading of traffic over 10 years looks like  My ISP loves me!, my wallet … not so much. haha Cheers!

@lololulu19: I had a LOT of problems with Utorrent in 2018.  It was not downloading files from this site. Out of desperation, I installed it's clone.. Bittorrent.. and that solved the problem!  Bittorrent would download the files while Utorrent would not! Finally, Utorrent started to download files again, so I have been using that. Recently, a couple of files didn't download, so I fired up bittorrent again.. but Bittorrent didn't download them either.  That didn't surprise me. What DID surprise me is now Bittorrent doesn't want to download files from this site..  But utorrent does!  This is quite frustrating! You need to switch to a better Torrent client:  BiglyBT  (search for various posts about it here in the forums)  You can google and download it. It's the replacement of what had been the Vuze project, but under new developer. Totally malware/bug free. Just make sure you keep an eye on the port settings for UDP/HTP and that you have port forwarding/triggering taking place at your router level (and if not then put them in place). Let us know! Good luck.

Install some reputable ad blocker and don't download stuff. Remove flash, it's not necessary any more. Nothing that needs to be "secure"!

A lot of ISPs still supply crappy old routers that don't match the speeds promised.  This is a huge problem in the UK.

@MrMazda: Windows 7 is easy to crack…. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ <– The Ultimate Boot CD On that CD, there is an app called NT Password Recovery Manager I believe it is. This is the tool that I have used many, many times to simply remove a Windows password to grant you easy access. Thanks. Remember when the Windows login password could be defeated.. just by pressing the ESC key?  Wow.
  • People in IT, what is your hardest job you ever had?

@raphjd: I usually do hardware stuff, but I also do QC for software. I DO NOT code.  It makes my head hurt. Anyway, the toughest job is always dealing with people and trying to convince them of something, if they have something else in their heads. One example is when I was QCing a software package.  The workflow was all crap, but the software looked nice.   The devs refused to move the buttons and whatnot to make the workflow actually flow because they spent ages making it look all nice and shiny as it was.   Anyway, the company put out the crap so it could come out right away, but did all the fixes I said over the next year. I stopped doing IT because the pay is so low.  Even with low prices, it was like pulling teeth trying to get people to pay. As for the actual IT work, the hard work is trying to get old hardware to work.  In fact, I think the biggest near disaster I almost had was at a doctor's office.  They wanted their system upgraded - not replaced.  Their system was using an OLD ESDI hard drive that contained all their software and data.  The doctor was too cheap to pay for a new system.  It was a nightmare to find parts that would work in that antique computer.  Even after I performed a miracle for that doctor.. and made his system 7 times faster.. he stiffed me out of $1300.  A few years later, that doctor was arrested and his medical license was taken away.. so… karma caught up with him.  Often, commercial business use proprietary software that ONLY works with specific hardware - so they have to keep using ancient hardware to use with the software they paid $50,000 for.  One place was using ancient 8" floppy disks that stored just 80K  (not to be confused with 5.25" floppy disks).  3.5" floppy disks originally held 720,000K  (720mb) and eventually were able to hold up to 2,880,000K (2.8 mb).  80K is roughly equivalent to a thousand paper punch cards!  I typically use 8TB drives now.. which hold  8,000,000,000K.  So, one of my current drives can store 100,000,000 8" floppy disks..  Anyway, their computer was so slow, it took 10 hours to run their payroll.  Even at the time, their entire payroll on a state of the art computer would only take 10 seconds to process.  On today's computers, it would be done in less than 1 second.

I figured out an answer: With other browsers, when you click on a torrent, it automatically goes to SAVE it, and when you click on the saved file, Utorrent starts. With BRAVE (which is by far my favorite browser - and I have tried every one there is) instead of automatically SAVING the torrent file, it gives you a CHOICE to either: START  or  SAVE.  If you click on START, then the torrent winds up being sucked into BRAVE's own primitive torrent client which sucks. If you click on SAVE, the torrent is processed like it is with other browsers - and in my case gets loaded into Utorrent. So, the answer is.. the BRAVE browser gives you the option to START a torrent with it's built in torrent client or SAVE and use your 3rd party torrent client.    CLICK ON SAVE
