@MrMazda Thank you for the information. I'm tempted to do this, because when I signed up I didn't know that my user name would be a "thing" in the forum or on torrent comments. (For example, I have usernames with banks and frequent flyer programs that nobody ever sees.) For those curious, my username is based on having some years back living in a large city down in the US, and my mailing address was "PO Box 91103." I though I's just change the "P" to an "E" (for electronic" and be done with it. It turns out that 91103 is a post code for an area near Los Angeles, and I sometimes get PM's from members near there who would like to hook up. It's tempting to make a change (I could convert my SBP to upload and thus not lose them), but it's a lot of work for me and the moderators, and I'm not sure it's worth it.

@frostycab said in Option to turn off Trans content?: this train-wreck of a thread. Such an elegant expression; I may use it myself some time. I thought that if I answered the OP's question, things would settle down. Perhaps the Gentle Moderator could even lock this thread.

@justatest90-0 Thanks for the reminder. I am old enough to know clearing cache and rebooting are the first things to try. It worked. Thanks again.

@Frantic310 Being brutally honest with you, they don't serve any purpose whatsoever and that's why members have their points pilling up and don't use for anything at all, as if the feature didn't even exist. But anyaways, for every 2 hours you seed, you get 1 point. This is regardless of how many torrents you are seeding, according to the FAQ (but tbf I never checked). You can upload torrents and hope people will gift you some of their bonus points. The only point of having those is using it to gift other members, but like I said the points are kinda useless so they'll do nothing with it as well. If you are looking for points to use them to freeleech torrents, you can use this topic: At Risk torrent Rules are simple, torrents must have few seeders. How much is "few" depends on the torrent size, but usually anything with more than 10 will be rejected unless it is a massive collection. You can send up to 3 torrents in a single request. If you're looking for points to trade for upload traffic, it is much easier to upload your torrents.

@ianfontinell-0 Hello,I am the one who asked my friend to post,I find the main reason caused me could't log in the forum is the cookie,Now I managed to log in through the cookie editor,But I think the problem really need to be fixed Because I am not the only one who find the problems. Many people have same issues. The forum still use the old domain name so cookie can't be channged simultaneously.

@MaleMan I remember unchecking the 3 boxes manually so they definitely were disabled by default, correct me if I'm wrong. You could have gone check but you just want to complain.

I would go look, but now it is gone so I will take your word for it. Will look in the future. That kind of makes sense. That implies even the original poster does not get a reseed request (odd, but good to know), and is not included in the snatch count, correct? Thank you for the explanation. -Donny

@ianfontinell-0 said in naked advertisement spam in torrents: @spiffyweasel-0 it's definitely not endorsed but on the same not it's not against the rules so, in a sense you're right, everyone can create their own site and advertise it in torrent descriptions. if you have enough free time and money i suggest you try it so that we will know for real how effective this approach is, but i suspect that it's not great. another thing is, it'd be hard to check metrics to see who is visiting your links coming from GT because the site removes referers from the URLs, it will look like the person has typed the URL manually instead of clicking an ad. right, which is why i suspect this is not just some affiliate (since the referer stripping would prevent click tracking as you said) but the actual owner of that site who earns money by running ads on the site itself.

@spiffyweasel-0 Usually, clearing the cache and cookies, then doing a force reload will fix the issue.

@raphjd said in Forum Topic/Post Bonus: it's a mixed blessing as it added posts in the forums, but it also added a lot of forum spam. If it adds topics of interest to the forum, that's a big plus, as traffic has slowed down in the last few years. But spam posts simply to harvest seed posts are a pain in the ass for everyone.

There was an issue with the site that I raised to the appropriate channels. The issue has now been resolved.

@sirtricksalo That is an enemy of site user/security. The site owner would rather delete the entire site than risk security.

Hope it's ok to bump this. Using the browse page kind of works sometimes, but it's not consistent. At best I select one or more main categories and a 2nd required category, but even that it's giving me uploads that don't include the 2nd category. One of the mods said in the other thread that maintainers aren't computer scientists, which is entirely fair, but I am a software engineer, so I might be able to help (currently looking a request structure to see if it can be accomplished there)

@EugeneGabija-0 it is not built-in and it's also not a glitch, url.rw is no longer a dereferer tool , in fact now it is a referer tool. they need to remove it from the site code (if they ever), in the mean time you will have to copy and paste links instead of clicking. or you can use a userscript to remove the defunct tool automatically.

@chuck75-0 ah yes, pussy jumpscare, a terrible inconvenience the main/sub category system is flawed by nature, it turns your search results into a lottery. some things you're looking for that are there will never make it to your results, while things you don't want will be all over the place. we could even ping @Joker to make sure he's aware, but considering that it has been like this for the last 20 years, I doubt it will change.
