I just saw on the news that later today, a UK court will rule on whether a mentally disabled woman should be sterilized after she gives birth in a couple of weeks.   There is no attempt to ban her from having sex. hXXp://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7023158562?British%20court%20mulls%20forced%20surgical%20sterility%20for%20disabled%20woman This is more proof that the UK is still very homophobic. EDIT:  The case has been adjourned until after she has the baby in May.

@fancydude: How would a porn star know he got HIV from being a rent boy when almost no one in porn is tested? Granted, the series I mentioned in the post above, most of them admitted to being rent boys, due to the whole "no royalties" thing and porn doesn't pay enough to live. But I really wonder HOW one would know for sure who passed on the HIV???  If a person has sex with 10 people (seemingly low in the Gay community) and I have sex with him, I've had sex with 11 people; in turn if I've had sex with 10 people, the first person mentioned has had sex with 20 people.  or whatever the exponential math is.  Again, how would you know who is responsible? According to Dr. Chris Steingart M.D. (Registered HIV Specialist) there are two different types of tests that are run to determine the exact strain of the virus. The first is known as a Western Blot. This test breaks the virus down into one of two categories. There is what is referred to as "Type 1"[nb]Type 1 HIV is generally more docile by comparison, however it does have varying degrees of severity, depending on the person's body chemistry and immune system.[/nb], which is more commonly found within North America, more particularly (but not necessarily exclusive to) gay men. There is also what is referred to as "Type 2"[nb]Type 2 tends to be a little more aggressive than Type 1, which makes for a particularly nasty threat if a person with Type 1 should become co-infected with Type 2 or vice versa.[/nb], which is more commonly found within African and Caribbean Communities[nb]The #1 problem that still lies with African and Caribbean communities is the availability of the drugs. In countries like Kenya, the question is more "Who doesn't have HIV?". In those countries, they are currently living in the days of the 80's in North America. In fact, AIDS related deaths account for 87.8% of death that occur in that region.[/nb]. The second test is referred to as a "Ginotype" test. This test breaks down the DNA strands of the HIV virus itself after it has bombarded the CD4 cell to determine its genetic makeup. This allows for the lab technician to be able to determine certain properties of the virus such as its origin, drug resistances, aggressiveness of the strain, incubation period for the virus to fuse with the CD4 cell, and a basic fingerprint of the virus itself. A Ginotype test in most cases can accurately predict whether or not the virus came from a particular origin by comparing its DNA. The only problem with this is that the virus does sometimes make "mistakes" when it begins to duplicate its DNA to overpower that of the CD4 cell. This results in a "mutation"[nb]Mutations can also occur if you are HIV positive and you have gone an extended period (generally several days) without your medication, giving the virus a chance to adapt itself to the medication. This problem brings on a whole new world of possible issues when you get into the subject of co-infection[/nb] if you will of the virus, or a slight alteration. In this case, the Ginotype test could verify that it is most likely the source of the virus based on its overall DNA structure, similar to testing a person's DNA to see if they are the parent of a child. The only problem that comes into play when mutation occurs is it leaves a small amount of margin for error, which means it's sometimes not always possible to scientifically prove 100% where the virus was transmitted from.

Ugandan police say David Kato was killed over sex payment Ugandan police have claimed that gay rights campaigner David Kato was killed by a man he had arranged to pay for sex. Mr Kato, who was recently outed by a newspaper, was beaten to death with a hammer at his home last week. His fellow activists said they feared he had been killed in a homophobic attack and urged police to investigate his death fully. Police first said he had been killed in a robbery but yesterday they claimed that he was attacked by a a man he knew. Enock Nsubuga, who was described by police as a “well-known thief”, was arrested this week at his girlfriend’s house. Police say that Mr Kato bailed Mr Nsubuga out of prison in late January and that the suspect had been staying at his house. Inspector General Kale Kayihura, told reporters yesterday: “According to the suspect he negotiated with the deceased to be paid money as he was to be used as a sexual partner.” He added that Mr Kato refused to pay the money after the pair had sex. “The following day Nsubuga confesses that he picked a hammer from the bathroom and hit him on the head,” Kayihura claimed. “There is nothing concrete to suggest that Nsubuga was motivated by hate, although we are not dismissing it.” Mr Kato had received death threats after successfully suing a newspaper for publishing his name, address and photo in an anti-gay campaign. He was buried last week, although his funeral was disrupted when the pastor began urging gays to repent.

I am at loss of words. I can't imagine how I could live in a country like this. My country is homophobic (not violent), one of many reasons I want to emigrate, but compared to this - I am living in gay heaven   I can only hope that all world will go into the right direction (not just modern/democratic/etc countries) and it will happen faster. It just looks strange how some justify killing, taking somebody's life because of such reasons. It kind of makes love (or just sex) bigger crime than killing. It's simple logic - murder is a crime, not two consenting adults having sex. Religion, laws and social norms shouldn't distort this simple truth.

They are not the same thing, however they are supposed to be treated the same in most cases.  This is one of the cases where both are supposed to be treated the same.. Areas like work and private pensions can exclude transferring the pension benefits to civil partners, but they have to give it to hetero married partners.

I could only find one reference to this in Gay Republic News (on a Google search) and this site appears to have lots of news articles but no way to contact them.  It is hard to believe something this major would only have one reference. 2006 wasn't that long ago.

It is impossible to think of all the possible interpretations - I immediately went from G-Men = Gay men!  Thinking you were making a joke. (about what G-men might mean - since it is a pretty aniquated term and not used very much except in very old movies.) Well, I don't know why anyone would assume ALL or most FBI would be Gay because of JEH - Both Gays and Straights (homophobic or not) agree that Gays are a small percentage of total population. I think the knee jerk part is what I already said Gay = Bad, and we (the FBI)  venerate Hoover for being a really cool guy who made the FBI sophisticated and gee, a Gay guy couldn't possibly have done this AND as a straight person, I really don't want to contemplate that someone this smart and who was a lot of people's boss in the past, could be Gay. Then again, you could be right or we both could be.  Since people seldom tell the whole truth in polls like this, we may never know.

I'm really surprised - I was under the impression in October that Electric Car joke was removed from the movie as well.  It was discussed quite a bit on radio here where I live.  That said, I wouldn't say 21 million was so terrible compared to 31 million.  Nor can I assume the low(er) amount was due to anti-Gay slurs.  If only that was the case for certain!  I'm glad GLAAD and Cooper started the firestorm which means we're making progress, but much more analysis is needed to make such a conclusion. The other unfortunate thing, is the radio host who discussed this is actually pretty moderate and it always takes something negative like this for Gays to get mentioned.  Well, almost always.  I defniitely know he is not anti-gay because he does report on positive news, like marriage successes (briefer than other topics!) in that, though, he just reflects the broader culture - and the majority of people, even IF tolerant, would prefer not to discuss homosexuality at all, if possible!

So very sickening and sad.  I had a similar incident with a drunken sailor in the Gaslight District of San Diego, California.  A drunken bully making cliche slurs to impress his navel buddies. Though most seemed more embarrassed by his behavior than supportive of it.  Once I stood up to him he immediately backed down.  It could have turned ugly though.  This is one of the reasons I caution those who are over excited by Obama's repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  Hate has no respect and obeys no laws.  (I know this sounds immature, but I hope the killer bitch gets what she has coming in prison. Maybe she won't, but  I do believe in Karma.)

Having voluntarily served in the U.S. Military, including a stint with Desert Storm, this is good news indeed!  It was wrong and felt wrong every time I had a physical which included the question of same sex action, and had to lie.  But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.  Just as with civil rights, long after the law is in place, it will take a generation or two before there is true full acceptance.  It will not be easy for anyone to be fully out in our military.  It's currently ripe with racial tension.  There are plenty of closeted queer-haters as well.  But Obama does deserve a big applause for having the guts to bring the topic forward and to a conclusion.  A man I would gladly serve under!
