@Aerethiel It is supposed to prevent that kind of thing in theory, but the big players to the market in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Videotron) all have such DPI systems, which absolutely CAN and DO decrypt. Until Bill C-9 passed just recently, this practice was highly illegal, but since the passing of that bill, it has become the "standard" practice. There are other countries like Turkey that come to mind that have the same kind of DPI system. I don't know if their systems can read the actual traffic though to tell what kind it is, or if they can see the actual content as well, but I know in Canada (and likely also the USA), the big player providers (and by extension, the government) can not only see what kind of traffic is being transmitted, but they can also see the content of the traffic too. This means that for anyone who has smart home gadgets or appliances that connect to their home network, the government absolutely DOES know what you have, what you've got things set to, when you're home or not home, and so much more, as they read all the data from such gadgets to keep track of the people. It's actually kind of scary. Sadly even in Canada, especially with the recent passing of Bill C-9, a VPN doesn't help... It will keep other people on the internet from seeing what you're up to, or even seeing where and who you really are, but it absolutely will NOT stop the government from prying into your business.

@cp2000 there is an app on the mac app store called muxy that lets you combine videos and export them as an mp4, so you can take your faves and combine them and then watch them easily all together anytime. It is so you don't have to spend time putting the wall together each time.

I ended up solving the problem by getting a little creative. The three DSL modems now wire directly into a Mikrotik RB-750 router, which establishes the PPPoE session through the 3 modems and bonds them together, then shares the resulting connection with my server. I had to get a little more creative because I host a static /28 subnet on my server, which used to handle the connection, since the server itself would choke when I try 3 lines at the same time. So… The router establishes the PPPoE session and receives the 69.xxx.xxx.6 IP address. From there, the router hosts the /30 subnet using 69.xxx.xxx.177, with the server on 69.xxx.xxx.178. I had to add in a routing rule because my ISP will only push the next hop for all my routing to the IP address of the PPPoE link. So, a few tweaks later to add a routing rule to tell it that if the destination is 173.xxx.xxx.80/28, forward the packet to the server at 69.xxx.xxx.178 as the next hop. Once I got that all setup, I was back in business. As for my laptop, it's a little more creative. I now only use two network cards in my server. The first network links into the Mikrotik router in which to get its internet connection, then shares it on the second network card. The wiring then leads from the second network card to a 16 port 1000mbit switch, which all the devices in the house hook into. Also, this main switch is where I have another line link it that leads out through the outside wall, down into the ground, where it then runs about 200' or so underground to the trailer. It then magically reappears above ground behind the trailer and leads inside to the WAN port on a Linksys WRT610N router mounted to the inside of the one wall. This router is separate from the D-Link DIR-605L router that sits on top of the entertainment stand in the house to run the main WiFi. It's a little complicated by design, but at the end of the day, I was more concerned with making sure THAT everything works, including the ability to stream seamlessly in 1080p HD, rather than focusing too much on HOW everything works. See…. Out here, we only have pre-Y2K legacy DSL on copper. We don't even have FTTN (Fibre To The Node) out here because the Oligopoly sucks. So... Because of this and because of the fact that I am a little more than 5kms away from the SLAM, the best that I can get and remain stable with is a 4032/800 profile, which only gives me about 3.2 to 3.5 mbit down, and a mere 0.6 mbit up. Once the Mikrotik router bridges the three DSL modems together using MLPPP, I magically end up with a connection that runs on a single line that can handle between 10.2 and 11.1mbit down (depending on network load levels in the neighbourhood), and consistently gives me around 1.75mbit up. As for the laptop and all the handheld devices, they connect VIA WiFi, except there's a bit of a catch... The connection is routed through the Linux box as my firewall, which then if permitted, allows the connection to pass through to the Mikrotik router, where it is then split into three different segments before leaving on the 3 DSL modems, only to be reassembled on the other end by my ISP. Even the DHCP is run through the server, so quite literally, if the server goes down (which it did recently), EVERYTHING stops working, including the home automation system which allows us to do things like lock or unlock the front door from our phone, check out the IP cameras, change the thermostat settings on the furnace, etc. hehe... It's a very custom setup indeed.

@xclr8: hey Arma Rayo!!! can i know how to make the older like yours.. your collection looks nice and organized.. with the studio name as the folder logo its easier to navigate.. teach me how to to my olders like yours!! It's easy to make custom folders, but it's tedious. You need to have a basic knowledge in Photoshop to do. Try to do this: Enter the studios' websites, right click on the logo to open the image in a new tab and save the logo images of the studios you have. Follow this tutorial: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QJXzh8V8Cfc and save the image as .png after you edit Go to some website that converts .png to .ico and save the .ico files to a folder that you will never move from place to place. I usually create an "Icons" folder in the "Windows" folder and put the icons there. After saving the .ico in the folder for them, you go in the folder of the studios, properties, customize and choose the icon that you just made. And it's ready! I have these icons to share and I can do some other you want, send me a message with the name of the studios that you want the folder that I upload the .png and I send you. Then you just convert it to .ico, save it to the folder that you can not move and finally change the folders icon.

Oh I forgot, browser extensions can actually do more harm than good. Several years ago I used Ghostery bu found out they sell data to advertisers, so I changed to disconnect.me. But eventually I grew sick of extensions, and these days Opera browser (Chromium engine just like Chrome) has built-in VPN and built-in ad blocker. I've been in talks with Opennic that they would bring ad blocking to some of they're servers, dunno what's gonna happen with that they are so against any type of censorship. But doing ad blocking on cloud/dns level is much more hmmm efficient than doing it at end user side. One can also install ad blocker to one's router. BitLocker is easily openable by police/intelligence MS provides means for them, but surely I use Windows 10 ~ I just love it Change BitLocker to VeraCrypt (or Jetico BestCrypt if can afford (cracks might breach app security), VeraCrypt is Open source, easy to use and has heaps of features far greater than "BitLocker"… https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/ Then, TPM should really be called non-TPM, but VeraCrypt has features for full OS encryption as well.

No you don't need. Remember that the user is the best AV. Viruses rarely actively seek to enter your system, but rather the user downloads/give access. In Win 8 & 10 Win Defender is more than pretty basic, albeit bare bones. Disable the cloud option if you don't want to "submit samples/files" without your consent. 3rd party AV's: i) take system resources ii) scan your files iii) phones home There was a time when I used an AV. I had Avast, but when it got bloated I changed to Panda AV. Even today Panda AV free is one of the most lightweight

A possibility is to buy a private NAS (as suggested) and to opt for a hybrid cloud solution: (e.g.) OwnCloud supports DropBox as an external storage, this should be sufficient to grant cross-platform compatibility and to encrypt the uploaded content (if you turn encryption on). This is sufficient to protect your privacy from first-level inspections, although the used encryption will not be 100% bulletproof for advanced techniques.

@MrMazda: @456435653: @unpleased: Less is more !!! Transmission [ https://transmissionbt.com ]  Yep. It's great. Only if you're on a Unix based platform The code is pretty portable, and the QT-based UI should work on Windows too.  https://torrentfreak.com/transmission-releases-long-awaited-bittorrent-client-for-windows-160327/ https://github.com/transmission/transmission/issues/61 https://github.com/transmission/transmission/issues/82 They are not actually distributing binaries for Windows mainly because the devs do not want to handle it.  :blownose: No one's gonna blame them 4 that anyway xD In fact you can use cmake to generate a Visual Studio Project pretty easily …

@456435653: Mac. Windows is trash. Mac is great for more graphics intense stuff like HD video rendering for the film industry. If you're looking for something more cost effective, I'd recommend Ubuntu as your go-to system, rather than Micro$not Winblows. Besides, Ubuntu is legally available to download in ISO format for free, including through torrent for faster download, and it's 100% legal.

This generally depends on the particular motherboard and the firmware it contains sadly. It may be helpful to know more specific information about the precise CPU, GPU, etc that you have in your system, along with the BIOS type, version number, etc. To my understanding, as a general rule, it is the voltage on specific things that you need to modify in order to over/under clock your CPU. I'll have to check with my brother on that for you.
