@justatest90-0 PrEP is very expensive in Taiwan if you are not a high risk person (like say medical workers). I heard that you have to buy it in Thailand if you want it cheaper, like vastly cheaper. Otherwise a course of prep is something like close to 1000 dollars. But once you become positive, the government pays the costs, and first 2 years is paid for by the Taiwan's version of CDC, after that it's paid for by the national healthcare.

OMG, I woke the thread up. I was feeling guilty that I was listing my favorite fries, and since I couldn't delete the post … Well here they are: Nathan's (I guess I can only get those in New York) Mc Donalds (I never thought to ask for no salt; great idea!) In and Out (discovered this place when I moved to San Francisco) Five Guys (I went there once, and was amazed at the portion;   I will split it with friends next time. Also in diners: fries with cheese and gravy...yum!

@YoungLove86: It would be more useful if the vaccine was more than 31% effective. I think by the time a truly effective vaccine is available we will all either be dead or at the verry least too old for sex. Too old for sex? That's what Viagra is for lol

@bluehue: Someone told me this stat the other day. It's hard to believe, but it is indeed a stark reminder to play safe.  :police: Lesson learned unfortunately the hard way. I found out the hard way that especially within my region, 43% new HIV infections (at least within the region I'm in) are diagnosed in people who had no clue they even had it. Sadly, I was one of those 43%

did they also specify if the test included education on living with the disease? it would seem more plausible that ppl diagnosed with the virus would be more aware of the importance of safe sex rather than crediting it to the treatment itself. ironically .. prevention is better than cure (if any)…. but seeking knowledge of the prevention only comes after it's too late.

This is good stuff. Just this past week I've had a big congress on Integrative Psychiatry, which theme was the self-healing capability of the human body. Garlic was named the #1 food to consume for a healthy life, as well as identifying Omega-3 acids as the best you can get, while dragging Omega-6 down. I just checked my cabinet and I have a supplement which contains both from fatty fish. Go figure. It's no joke that diet and exercise reduce all nastiness in life. Cancer, while awaiting a more efficient and universal cure, can often be effectively combated by a diet which limits the amount of 'food' for the tumour and reduces the chance of other cancer cells becoming aggressive. Exercise is the best way to stop and prevent depression, as well as keeping you fit. I agree with all five you mentioned, but the reality is that my diet contains loads of stuff I shouldn't consume and only few of the important foods (onions, garlic, nuts, green tea, probiotica, etc.) make it into my daily diet. My life is too much of a mess right now to contain such regularity as a healthy diet requires. Life should be focused less on making money, and more on making the best of it. Money is just a tool to acquire some of the stuff you need for a good life; it won't buy you health or happiness, really.

  • Bone Marrow Transplant Cures AIDS?

There are some inherent problems with this though; 1. As it stands now, we can't even get enough bone marrow for people with Leukemia. 2. The average cost for a simple bone marrow transplant is $250,000. Imagine how much this specialized type of bone marrow transplant is going to cost. 3. The vast majority of AIDS patients are in the poorest regions, so they will be flooding western countries to get treatment on backs of the taxpayers in these countries.
