I did the firmware update a few days after I built this system and the burners were working fine for months. I replaced both burners with Optiarc AD 7200S {Sony - NEC joint venture} burners and I have no problems at all.  I haven't done the firmware upgrade yet, but they work like a charm on any disc I throw at them. I wonder if there is something on The Tudors dvd that might have caused this.  Sony got caught putting rootkits on their cds and dvds a few times over the last couple of years. So I wonder if something similar happened here.

@geyser22: . The message said there is limit connection. Is there a way to fix that. Thanks  ??? Hmm… It's a little tough to tell for sure without knowing the router, and other connecting gear models or specifications, but my guess is that your router is acting like a switch, and your ISP is providing only one IP address.  A router (one with NAT -- Network Address Translation), takes that one address, and then hides the other computers you have connected behind itself.  It makes more addresses on the "inside" network, then passes requests from the inside to the outside, and data back inside from the outside. showip.net will show you what the outside IP address is.  If it matches what your computer's operating system thinks is it's ip address, then NAT isn't working, and your router needs a checkup.  Since he's using Utorrent, he's likely running Windows, and you can use this procedure to find our internal address: Click on "Start > Run" and in the blank box type (without quotes) "CMD" amd press the Enter key. A black window will appear, this is the "Command Prompt" There, type (without quotes) "IPCONFIG" and press the Enter key. That will show you your Internal IP Address. If you see many entries here, look for the one that is under the name of "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:" If the addresses are the same, or if either is the same as the external address, you need to set your router to properly hand out internal IP addresses.  I'd be happy to guide you through it, but I need more details.

@F00F: Norton might be stupid and assume that anything that access that specific port is the trojan. iptables -A INPUT -p tcp –dport 60000 --tcp-flags RST RST -j DROP Should work better. thanks F00F! whoops…copy/pasted the wrong stuff and didn't think much about what was in that line, wasn't really sure what a couple of those commands were anyhow. like i said i don't use terminal/command line often, hardly ever, and don't remember much from when i did use it. sorry Chris4u19. iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 60000 --tcp-flags RST RST -j DROP ya...lol, that should work better without all the extra garbage i posted. i thought exactly the same thing about norton because as soon as Chris tried to use port 60000, it sent an alert. i really hope this works for you Chris4u19.

looks like people are running uncapped 5100's. this place has some software and forums that might help. they sell a modded 5100 kit with a preinstalled pin header, programmer, Software (on CD), and firmware. hxxp://www.tcniso.net/forum/ hxxp://www.tcniso.net/Nav/Software/ from what i read elsewhere, you can run a TFTP sever on your computer, login to the modem and tell the modem where to get the config file ( from your sever) then reboot and let it pull the config. that will stop the modem from pulling the wrong (lol) config file from your isp. get a MAC sniffer and use a MAC address thats not on your node and dont use your isp's mail servers or dns. there is software for everything, including config file sniffers. maybe some places to dl them, if you beg the right people…lol. again, just from what i read. i never uncapped before. i cant find the other links now, but people are uncapping 5100's and the info is out there. how many options for broadband do you have? at the very least, when you get caught, you will recieve an instant perma-ban from your isp. worse case senario would be perma-ban + legal action. i dont think its worth the risk. 4meg upload is tempting tho. @seedym: When 'surfing', stop/pause/reduce downloads and reduce upload to half ie 15Kb/sec. Doesn't effect your surfing speed plus it also helps your ratio. i'd try leaving upload alone or at 80% first, then lower it later if you have to. i leave mine at about 80% all the time and never have any slow downs. nice post. congrats on fixing your ratio problem and thanks for your uploads.

Yeah, I haven't found much on in Joost that is worthwhile. It has received a lot of press in the last couple weeks, so I was wanting to try it out. Maybe in a year or so…
