Hi @bluered35 ! Seeding is sharing what you downloaded, with others that also want the files, and you do that by leaving it running even after you finish downloading. You improve your ratio by letting your downloads continue to seed (or share). If you give more data than you take, then it is very good for your ratio. If you still need help with your ratio even after you keep seeding, you may be able to improve your ratio by downloading a current Free Leech torrent and leave that running to seed with others. Downloading this will not hurt your ratio, and seeding will help your ratio. Free Leech torrents can be found at https://www.gaytor.rent/search.php?infl=1 Welcome, and happy torrenting Ricky

@g35 How is upload calculated... this relies on GT tracker connected to your account... this is base upon your bandwidth [speed], uploads of 500MB = .1 [point] with peers connected... seeding w/o peers 0.5 seed bonus points /hr... see RATIONATOR: https://www.gaytor.rent/rationator.php [this explain upload /download share statistics...]

@arpheus said in My tracker only seems to register my Upload ratio as long as I keep my gt.ru profile logged in on the browser: I've been trying to keep my ratio up, I keep my client open during day and night and the site only records about 5% of my upload data. Just curious: do you use a VPN? It discouraging to try to keep a good ratio if the tracker only logs a small percentage of the data. The only way to keep a good ratio nowadays is to upload which promotes reposts and lazy collection torrents. My own tracker (qBittorrent) reports how much data is uploaded - and I am on a VPN (NordVPN, to be exact)... and I've noted as well that my ratios are way off as reported on the site vs. my tracker. Specifically - over time, my own client reports that I've uploaded about 2.5x the amount I've downloaded.... but I've been stuck - FOR YEARS - on this tracker at about a 0.83 ratio. Mind you, after being here for years, I've downloaded 23TB of data, and uploaded only about 19.5TB... (I almost rounded that to 20TB, but then i thought about it: that's 500GB of data I'm rounding! That's a LOT of data!) My point is this: At 20TB of data (plus or minus), I've been making this work - even over a VPN and even using Linux (vs. Windows) clients - for a long time... be patient, and work within the rules.

First, unless you download 100% of ALL of the files in a torrent, the tracker will still only register you as leeching the torrent. Second, the stats in your profile only show the amount of data that has transferred for the current session. When you stop a torrent then restart it for any reason, the stats in your profile will reset to zero once you start seeding the torrent again.

regardless of original or copied files as long as 100 % downloaded… you can delete w/c ever you want to reduce disk capacity... to seed, download [torrent] and point and locate the exact name/folder/files/location to your hard drive where ever you keep them… [if you rename the torrent file/folder...copy and locate the torrent name and rename the exact copy of torrent file that you own... once force re-check started you can see the progress of the torrent if the file is right... Good Luck !!!

@Poernerlook: Thank you for all your tips! I still didn't download more than 1 gb, but I understand that downloading heavier files (such as 555 photos) can affect my ratio so much. If I may, I have a newer problem (and even a more critical one). Because I am a horsemen of the Apocalypse when it comes to technology. I managed to fuck things up and had to reinstall windows completely, thus losing all of my torrents and files for seeding*. It may come a bit selfish, but for the sake of my account, my first priority is to bump up my ratio once again to a "safe zone" (because between my last message and this one, my ratio dropped to 2.6). How do you recommend to do so? Of course I want to seed because it's the right thing to do, but being banned won't help anyone. *Technically I do have one file left on another computer, but I won't be able to reach it until Tusday It's not selfish to worry about your ratio, it's smart.  So many people get off on the wrong foot with their ratio.  Just focus on freeleech torrents for a while and you shouldn't have problems building up a good ratio based on a decent amount of downloading and uploading.
  • Why do torrents cost different amounts of seed bonus to make Freeleech?

@LostStoner: I'm kind of familiar with the seed bonus as far as how you earn it, and what you can spend it on. However I don't understand why one torrent will cost, 55.783 Seed bonus Points per day (2.324 points per hour) Meanwhile another torrent will cost, 1531.463 Seed bonus Points per day (63.811 points per hour). Can anyone explain why they cost different amounts? What is the amount based on/determined by? Or does the system randomly assign a Seed Bonus cost that isn't really based on anything? It's based on the size of the torrent. That's one of the reasons large collections are bad, because it costs so many seedbonus points to make them freeleech that almost no one would do so.

So I noticed the same thing.  I sent a message and they responded with the same answer.  So I've left my computer on for 3 days straight, no stop in Uttorrent and the same torrents loaded. July 1:  UL  53.89  DL  23.20  Ratio:  2.322  Utorrent: UL  7.3 GB July 2:  UL  54.16  DL  23.20  Ratio:  2.334  Utorrent: UL  6.2 GB July 3:  UL  54.42  DL  23.20  Ratio:  2.345  Utorrent: UL  5.3 GB July 4:  UL  54.48  DL  23.20  Ratio:  2.348  Utorrent: UL  4.1 GB So I've uploaded about 23 GB and my Ratio has gone up 0.26 in 4 days…..

You get 0.5 SBP per hour that you seed at least one torrent. As for uploading a torrent, the only way to get additional points from it is if someone leaves a thank you on the torrent and adds SBP on top.

@Leehoudin: I would like to add a torrent for seeding files that I have on my computer. However, bad ratio is not letting me download the torrent file. What can be done? You're probably not seeding it correctly. The tracker does not prevent you from downloading the actual *.torrent file.

Have thorough look at the rationator figures. You wrote yourself that you minimum ratio was 0.55 after you downloaded further you crossed the step where your minimum requested ratio is now 0.6. This ratio step is your problem. A tip: watch your ratio carefully - especially when you are near the border to the next ratio step in order to avoid such surprises. To see the Rationator 3.0 steps just click on your ratio below the blue menu bar

Let me at first make some facts clear: Your ratio is only calculated by your upload traffic divided by your download traffic. Seed bonus points (SBP) are only used to add to your upload traffic, in your case 100 SBP = 1.0 GB = 100 / 2.140 GB x 1 GB = ~0,04 % increase. (all values are rounded). You get SBB for the time seeding 1 point for two hours seeding time. The number of torrents is irrelevant, only the time seeding counts. I see members here which seed >200 torrents at the same time: nonsense, their client uses probably more time to manage the seeding torrents than to look out for more downloading members for a few torrents. @tkhuma: … the upload speed is ridiculous and most of the time nothing happens ,-... For the upload speed see MrMada's answer, btw: if you look at his posting you can see easily he is a GlobalModerator (and another btw: has much more knowledge about IN-technology than I have and probably will ever get) @tkhuma: meanwhile I seed on other torrent site at 600 kb/s depending on your speed and the swarm-size that can easily be explained. @tkhuma: (and I've tried stopping these to see if things got better on GT.ru, not the case),  on GT.ru it usually remains below 1Kb/s . Well - to dig deeper we need a IN-speed diagnostic from a widely accepted source like www.speedtest.net and mail us your results. The effective upload speed is influenced by numerous things: most important: connectivity of the clients, the available ressourses for uploading, # of leeching clients in the swarm,#of seeding clients in the swarm and may many more. @tkhuma: I was previuously seeding huindreds of torrents See my remark about seeding many torrents! What we didn't discuss up to now is the question of ports; open or closed, firewalls and so on. All things GT.ru has no influence. Our tracker has the only task to to convey IP-addresses of seeding/leeching clients - the transfer is the client's duty! see also my message https://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=30593.msg145307;topicseen#msg145307 in this very forum about port forwarding and telated stuff @tkhuma: What could have been changed in the last few months to make it this way? … In case you did read and understand my last paragraph you can answer this question yourself: NOTHING and your problems are the connections between your client and other clients. That's the reason BitTorrent is called a Peer to Peer network meaning: it is not centrally organised. @tkhuma: Can a mod/admin help ? At least MrMazda and I tried

    Let me explain a bit for you: | Torrent name                            | freeleech from      | up to                | download finished | delta time | | mem solo amador | 2019-1-20 19:42 | …-25 19:41 | …25 20:28 | +39 min | | Bulldog (Brendan Byers) VS Stefan | 2018-07-16 21:59 | 2018-07-17 21:58 | 2019-01-20 21:33 | > 180 d | Shall I continue? caveat: leeching a freeleech torrent is free until the freeleech time is expired.
