The tracker, the website, and the forum are actually separate services - probably on separate servers (tho I admittedly have no real evidence to that effect). As advertised elsewhere, the website and the tracker have been moved from the .ru domain to the .rent domain, but the forum has not yet been re-configured.

As for the re-seed links, that should likely be reported to the help desk. https://www.gaytor.rent/helpdesk.php

    • RE: Un-Zipping - Nothing Works

@Ricky raises a good point - if you just downloaded the torrent file, what you've downloaded is a pointer... to something called a tracker - which contains pointers to other people that have the original file... it's an indirect process.

You will still need to download the file you want from one (or more!) of the people the tracker will connect you with... THEY have the file you're looking for, but the tracker only has the pointers.

If you don't already have one, you'll need a Torrent Client.

      For Mac, I recommend

      • the FreeDownloadManager is far more than just a torrent client, but it'll get you your file! However, I don't know whether it will then also SEED the file (allow YOU to share the file with OTHERS - give, as well as take!)
      • Transmission is a true MacOS torrent client...

      Quick terminology check:

      • Torrent File: a very small file that contains descriptors of blocks of a "source file" (or folder). It is created by an original "uploader" (who uploads this torrent file to the tracker), and is then downloaded by other people who also want or have that file.
      • Torrent Server (called a tracker): a website that maintains a list of files and people who are sharing those files. The Tracker is the source of the .torrent file for all but the original uploader.
      • Torrent Client: the program on an end-user's PC that will communicate with the Tracker to find people who have the file and are willing to share it. The torrent client does not download the torrent file itself (you use your web browser for that), but it does download the target file (or folder)
      • Torrent Blocks (aka: chunks): the individual PARTS of a file. They are described in the torrent file itself. Each descriptor helps to ensure you are getting the correct, unchanged, file contents.
      • Seeder: someone who has the target file already, and has registered their willingness to share it on the tracker. The original seeder is the original uploader. Other seeders are usually people who have downloaded it via the torrent tracker themselves, and then agreed to share it.
      • Leecher: someone who wants the target file and downloads the torrent from the tracker.

The beauty of a torrent is that the source file is broken up into "blocks" - and the tracker helps you manage getting all of those blocks from wherever you can find them! That means you can download from multiple people simultaneously - thus, speeding up the download process considerably.

But keep in mind: the tracker has the .torrent file (the descriptions of the blocks), and it maintains a list of people who have those blocks, but the tracker does not have the original file itself, or any of the blocks. The tracker (in this case GT.RU) is just a middle-man.

When you decide upon your client, you open your .torrent file with that client... it will start the process of connecting to the tracker (gt.ru) and determining where the other people who have (and are sharing) that file.

Your client will then reach out to those other people and download the blocks (parts) until you have all of them!

Once you finish your download, please seed the file!!

    • RE: New York undercounted C-19 deaths

      @raphjd
Lots to unpack there: thoughts meander much? 🙂

In the early part of the pandemic, counting anyone who tested positive for the virus and subsequently died a victim of the disease was probably just a way to get around the fact that we knew SO LITTLE about it, and had little way of otherwise "filtering" results to get better data. Over time, all of that reporting will undoubtedly be revised for accuracy.

Forget the political leadership for a moment - the people who do the counting - who generate the reports - are usually career public health experts. In most cases, their only agenda is saving lives. (Fuckin weasly bastards!)

Now, what politicians do with that data is another thing... and in that, there is always politics. While I don't agree with any kind of playing with the numbers, I must say: I strongly prefer a politician fudging the numbers in an effort to save lives, over one fudging the numbers and sacrificing lives in the name of political expediency. Again: neither is good, but saving lives is still better than ignoring them.

I've already said - multiply now - that going back and re-examining our entire response - GLOBALLY - to the COVID-19 pandemic is definitely a wise thing to do... although, right now, I would personally rather that they keep focusing on getting through the pandemic... we can investigate early missteps once the threat has been reduced! Still, the only way we learn from our mistakes, is to discover them to begin with!

Finally: in the early days of COVID-19, we thought it was spread by contact - thus the suggestions you do things like wiping down your groceries before taking them into your house. Putting a sick patient you cannot help into a nursing home seemed, at the time, a humane way to let them die in peace, and in the presence of their families - while also freeing up badly needed space in the hospitals. The other patients in the nursing homes weren't exactly "visiting" the COVID-19 patients, and since there would be no cross-contact, it was thought to be a safe, humane way to treat the un-treatable.

It is important to put these things into the proper context: we had few treatments at the time that were effective once your disease got to a certain point... to put a fine point on it, yes: they were sent to the nursing homes to die!

And, as I've pointed out multiply already, we didn't know it was spread by aerosol. Thus, we didn't know we were exposing other nursing home patients to the disease... we thought the infection-control in the nursing homes would be adequate. (They were not)

It is also important to note that this practice wasn't wide-spread: it happened only in the hottest of the hot-spots... the biggest cities with the worst outbreaks. Hospital beds were desperately needed to treat the victims who were treatable and had some reasonable hope of survival.

It is not fair to judge their decisions or actions then based on what we know now! First, with the advanced therapeutics, immune-therapies, and other knowledge of how to treat COVID-19 (like putting patients on their stomachs!), there aren't many (any?) "un-treatable" patients any longer... while there is still a shortage of hospital beds, these patients have a decent chance to survive COVID-19 right up until the end, so there is no ethical rationale to send them elsewhere to die. Secondly, knowing now (what we didn't know then) - that COVID-19 is an aerosol disease - we would never put a dying patient anywhere that there wasn't a full quarantine in place.

While we (as a population) need to learn, and take heed, from the mistakes made in the early days of COVID-19 (and the US and UK are far from the only countries who struggled with their responses), care should be taken not to recriminate against people who were doing the best they could with little to no knowledge of what they were facing.

Simply put: we need to learn, but we do not need to blame.

    • RE: torrent files that only load correctly in a few clients

@urx585 said in torrent files that only load correctly in a few clients:

I work in the IT industry, so this is kind-of "up my alley".

      1. I hadn't thought of it, but yes - a non-padded torrent WOULD appear significantly smaller... however, as I noted in my post above: those "padding" files are created as "sparse" files with all zero data. ACTUAL XFERED DATA is practically nil! Depending on the filesystem you download into, they may also store as practically zero-length files (in storage, not in the OS listing of the file size).
#2 is unfortunately incorrect for most torrent clients and filesystems. When I download a 32MB file of all zero bytes from my seedbox, it takes exactly as long as downloading a 32MB file with non-zero bytes.

I wouldn't be so sure. Firstly, compression on networks isn't like compression on old-style modems: it's enabled , generally, by default.

Secondly, the way "sparse" files are designed to work is to be "invisible" to the end user. The OS reports the "size" of the file as the "advertised" size. There is another field that is illustrative in Windows: "size on disk".

That said, many NAS devices do not support "sparse files" and if your external drives are using an older FAT32 or older NTFS filesystem, they won't support sparse files at all. But that is not the fault of the torrent uploader.

Same for ratio: when I download a torrent with lots of padding in Tixati (my alternate client when rutorrent doesn't work) all of the padding bytes count against my ratio. Not that I care, I have a 2 petabyte buffer, but some people have to worry about their ratio.

Tixati is new to me... however, it tries to be ultra-lightweight, so I suspect the logic to process sparse files (or padding files) may be absent.

For instance, when I deleted the .pad directory for the ASG torrent, I got about 34 GB of disk space back. File with all zero bytes are only more efficient if you're using compression. If you're not using compression, then on the disk, and through the network, there is no difference between files with just zeroes and files with both ones and zeroes.

That may or may not be true - that depends on your OS and filesystem. (My Macs support sparse files, as does my Linux VM where I do most of my torrent traffic. My Windows desktop does not - at least not on the NAS device where I store my porn...

qbittorrent may never actually download the padding files at all. I believe the default behavior is to completely hide everything having to do with padding. That's why so many Uploaders don't know their torrent client is adding pad files, I usually have to ask them to click on [See full list] before they believe that such a thing exists. So if you're using qbittorrent, the pad files may indeed appear to take no time to download, because they're not being downloaded. However most torrent clients don't have this feature, so they treat the pad files just like any other pic or vid file.

Again, this isn't a qBitTorrent thing, it's a libtorrent thing. Deluge, qBitTorrent, and about a dozen smaller, less popular, torrent clients all use the same core library.

#3 I don't want to require anyone to do anything, but this error was introduced recently, and it would be very nice if we could "patch" it by removing whatever extension field or metadata that's causing this error in so many other torrent clients.

I will again use the analogy of web browsers. There are still some sites out there that require IE to operate properly (pity, now that IE is officially D-E-A-D... RIP). We've all adjusted to websites being a little different on different browsers, why is it so hard to apply this to torrents?

Having said that, I do agree that a recent update to libtorrent appears to have broken backward compatibility with some other torrent clients - and that definitely should be addressed. (And as you point out below, maybe it already has...). My point is that this isn't unprecedented territory in the history of the Internet - indeed, it's actually been commonplace!

I've read a lot of comments from frustrated users on the torrents with this error, and it appears most people only use one torrent client, so when they get an error, they think there's something wrong with the torrent file, they don't think there's something wrong with their torrrent client, and they don't try a different one.

Maybe they'll learn something here, as a result of our discussion.

BTW, it's possible this error was fixed by an even newer version of qbittorrent/libtorrent, because I've recently seen a few large torrents with lots of padding files that load correctly in rutorrent. So maybe the solution is to ask all the libtorrent users to do one more upgrade. I don't know for sure, because I can't figure out what's causing the error. However when I look at the headers in these .torrent files it seems like there's some entries I haven't seen before.

#4 I download a large number of multi-file torrents from other sites. You're right, no other site has anywhere near the content that we have here, but I get probably a third of my torrents from other sites, and many of them have those pesky .srt files and thumbnail pics etc. This particular error (fails to load in rutorrent, Transmission, and others) started a few months ago. On GT, I run into this error maybe once per day (I don't post every link here, and I didn't start this thread until recently.) On the other sites, I've never had this happen, not once. Just based on the numbers, I don't think it's coincidence.

Yes, Uploaders create the initial .torrent file, but this site's processing engine modifies them too. When I upload a new torrent, the .torrent file I download from the post-upload page is not the same as the .torrent file I initially created with my torrent client.

You confuse the .torrent encoding (the blocks and checksums) with the torrent metadata - which includes the tracker URLs... thoe tracker URLs are unique for a private tracker like ours - it's how the tracker knows you're you, and who to "apply" upload and download credits to... That's a FAR CRY from editing the contents of the torrent stream data itself!

Maybe the other sites are using some logic that strips non-standard extensions and metadata from .torrent file headers.

There are other sites that edit the metadata, but without the source data, it'd be a tall, TALL order to rebuild the stream cheksum data.... just saying...

Again, really appreciate you taking the time to discuss this. If there's a solution, it may apply more broadly, and shield us from the next bug that the programmers will inevitably introduce...

I am personally hopeful that libtorrent will see the error of their ways (wrt backward compatibility) and release a patch soon. In the meantime, just as our site is best viewed on Chrome, maybe some of these torrents are best managed by Deluge or qBitTorrent? Just an idea... 🙂

      Peace be with you...

      • Why not create a reverse SBP program where you can purchase SBP with upload credits? Say, 10GB upload credit will buy you 500 SBP

NOTE: If you do that backwards, it takes 600 SBP to purchase back the 10GB upload - and that would prevent "churning" (going back and forth)...

I'm not 100% sure, but while in a speaking vernacular, "snatched" and "downloaded" are synonymous, in terms of the tracker there is a difference:

      • downloaded files count against your ratio
      • snatched files do not

The tracker "tracks" ALL of your files, so a "free leech" is free (WRT your ratio), but it is not unnoticed...

So, long story short - it's a tracker thing... otherwise, snatched and downloaded mean the same...

@kekkaishi said in Advice for sucking cock and breathing:

I love to suck cock very much. In my head I tell to myself that I can suck for hours, but when start to suck a dick (regular size and above), I'm having difficulty breathing even though my nostrils are open.

It mainly happens when I deepthroat, I can deepthroat no problem, but even regular size dicks i'm having hard time breathing.

Depending on the dick size and how deep you go, I can suck a dick at most for 30 seconds without a break for air

I am aware that while I have a dick in my mouth, I try knowingly to breath through my nose, but it's not enough

I don't have this problem with small dicks though

      any tips?

Understand the biology - and equally understand that porn is fantasy - when you see what looks like a guy staying all-the-way down on a 9-inch cock for long periods of time, it's not real - it's spliced together.

So, biologically speaking, the air pathway for your nose-breathing "meets" the air pathway for mouth breathing - pretty much right at the back of the mouth... See here

As you can see, the air pathways join pretty much right at the end/back of your mouth... so any cock you're taking beyond that point, you're taking into your throat - which is shared by both mouth-breathing and nose-breathing.

You could (purely theoretically) get a tracheostomy - a tube inserted into the base of your neck and into your breathing tube (your trachea - hence the name)... that would allow air to come in well below the end of all-but-the-largest dick! But, IMHO, that'd be a little extreme! LOL

No, the fact is, you have to pull off far enough to get air (through your nose OR mouth - try it with your mouth - the cool air rushing around his hot, wet cock can be quite exhilarating for him!) every few moments to catch your breath...

I'm sorry, the hypocrite is the Governor (I think it was a Governor) who told everyone to stay at home for the holidays, then flew off to his family's holiday gathering.

FWIW: If I recall rightly, it was a DEMOCRATIC Governor... he should have resigned. That was just a TOTAL abuse of power.

The AIDS activist marching for laws requiring safer sex practices whose Grindr profile says "bareback only" is hypocritical.

The minister preaching about the sins of homosexuality - while he's secretly flowing the alter-boys after church - is hypocritical.

The guy from the porn site requesting that people not upload videos from his site, while having a history of downloading multiple GB of porn videos himself (presumably from OTHER producers, naturally) - is hypocritical.

Rich people have the right to spend their money. That's not being hypocritical. Prince Harry didn't tell others not to travel, and he doesn't have the power to make rules against it.

Perfectly legitimate to complain that he's flying around with his family on the British tax-payers's dime... except that he isn't! He's given up the Royal allowance! He's just a rich snob! No power, no rules to set. Just a rich bloke that TONS of people care about because of the rest of his family (including his wife).

@lololulu19 said in I see the list of files from the .torrent files but cannot download:

@justanedflan it looks like Qbittorrent is able to download that torrent without renaming the files first. I know from experience that Utorrent chokes on filenames like that. Even though it DOES work.. I still suggest renaming those files so that when you seed them, your seeds work with people who are using torrent clients that are not accomodating to "special characters"
I have suggested that GTRU should automatically replace "special characters" with normal ones.

So there is a basic problem with what you propose there:

      • GT.ru is a tracker, not an originator, of content.
      • GT.ru cannot change the content of uploads, except for the "metadata" (thus, they can change the tracker address, but not the folder name)
      • Only the USER can change the folder and/or file names... but even so, only on their local end!

So the example above, where someone suggested changing the names on your end to help out others.... not so much: The filename on your end is the new/corrected/simpler filename, but the filename in the torrent remains the same as what the uploader provided.

One final comment: sometimes these special characters arise out of translations from a user's system having been set to, say Korean language... Then the torrents show the filenames in the character-set that is "normal" to your system.

Long story short: use your Torrent Client (qBitTorrent or uTorrent have been mentioned here) to change the filenames on your system so that you can use the files more easily locally, and yet STILL seed the torrent and maintain your ratio!

I don't mean to insult anyone.... but I also don't think pointing out flaws in your arguments is insulting you! Especially since most of your arguments come from conservative radio & tv personalities.

Well, I assume that's there you get them. i could be wrong. Still:

      • you reference them (conservative news outlets) - at times directly
      • you are unable to defend (or go into any detail) on some of your arguments, presumably because you don't really understand where they come from - you're just parroting the talking-heads you listen to.

When I deride the anti-Romney talk-show-host because he's portraying guilt by association, I'm not attacking you personally, even though you did post the link yourself.
Likewise, when I deride your doing the same thing - attempting to link The Lincoln Project to a sex offender, in spite of the fact that they denounced him and his actions within 24-hours of being notified... again, a bold attempt at guilt by association
And I cried foul in both cases.

I have asked you repeatedly to identify this concept of "Due Process" that Betsy DeVos supposedly restored... to no avail.

The only real attempt to expel any member of Congress has come against the nutball Marjorie Taylor Greene - and its not for voting on or about the Electoral College - no, it's for actively calling for the assassination of elected, US, public officials.

Sure there have been motions - there are 1000's of idiotic motions made by the 535 members of Congress every year. Most get absolutely no traction. The above referenced nut-job congresswoman also filed a motion to impeach Joe Biden - before he even signed his first Executive Order!

You are perfectly correct in noting that there have been attempts to refute electoral college votes in the past - by Dems and Republicans alike. It's a part of the process. Truly NONE has ever come close to passing.

However, the whole idea is a mis-reading of the law and Constitution: the governing rules stem from the Civil War, when some states sent multiple slates of delegates to the Electoral College in an attempt to de-legitimize the election of Lincoln (or anyone else, for that matter). The intent of the rules was to give Congress the ability to deal with MULTIPLE slates of electors, not to just toss-out perfectly legitimate, approved delegates from States. We need to clarify this intention - and there's no time like the present!
