@tnar Have you tried using a VPN? They re-route through other servers.

That site is now working for me for a couple of days.

Site came back a couple of hours ago for me, so looks like everything is sorting itself out slowly.

          Bump.

Anyone else having trouble connecting to both web site and tracker (i.e. gay-area.org)?

@rentboy Yup, me too. For the last several hours I've been unable to access the site (timeout error) and I've just noticed that six out of six torrents I was seeding have errored with the message "Host not found (authoritative)".

              @rentboy
It has been unreachable around 8 hours for me (could be more).

There was a DNS update today...

All we can do at this point is leave our clients running and wait.

@rentboy Its probably worth noting that this thread is over a year and a half old and referencing gay-torrents.net. Gay-area.org is an entirely different site.

And yes, gay-area.org is down for everyone. It happens. It'll be back in a few hours probably. 🙂

Or maybe not... At least, probably not soon, if at all. Never say never, but, it sure is suspicious.

There is an article on TorrentFreak referencing a lawsuit with Gay-Torrents.Org (aka Gay-Area.Org).

As @frostycab said, this has nothing to do with Gay-Torrents.Net.

This has a lot to do with why I use a VPN for torrent traffic.

Also, FWIW, I did a little digging and it seems that their site IP address has been changed to 192.0.2.1, which is particularly interesting as this is a particular subnet that is not routable to the internet and is not intended to be used for live internet traffic. This suggests something more nefarious has happened.

That is most likely the easiest and quickest way to make the site unreachable, and it could be a rule set either by the hosting company or cloudflare since both are parties in the lawsuit.

About the case itself, I have made a few posts in that very same forum topic that is mentioned in the article, and it led to something that was an immediate red flag for the site's security and members privacy. I have contacted The Man himself about the matter and after being ignored I decided it wasn't safe to be there and requested my account to be deleted. They didn't find themselves in this unfortunate situation due to lack of advice, that much I can tell.

@ianfontinell I suspect it was done on Cloudflare's part, as they still have the SOA for the domain and it's their NS servers that are set to respond to requests for the domain.

I suspect that they have left the actual servers still up and running as they may be planning to get a court order to at the very least obtain a copy of all the server data at some point. THAT is the scary part.

@frostycab Yes, my bad. I read the thread title carelessly before I posted in it.

If a mod could move all posts starting with my previous one to a new thread, that would preserve the information that's been shared here in its proper place.

Edited: Never mind. Someone has already created a separate thread.
