There's really no arguing that it's ugly. And kind of alien-looking. And yeah, even downright gross. But dang it! Scobys make some delicious kombucha! If you want to save a few bucks on your 'booch habit, there's just no getting around it. You're going to need a scoby. You can beg a scoby from a kombucha-brewing friend, or you can order a fresh one online. But there's one more option: you can grow your own. What is a Scoby? "Scoby" is actually an acronym: Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. And that's exactly what it is! A scoby is the living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform sweet tea into tangy, fizzy kombucha — think of the scoby as the coral reef of the bacteria and yeast world. It a rubbery raft that floats on the surface of the kombucha. Aside from being a home for yeast and good bacteria, the scoby seals off the fermenting kombucha from the air and protects it from outside, undesirable bacterias while it's fermenting. P.S. You'll also sometimes hear scobys referred to as "kombucha mothers" or "kombcha mushrooms." If you read or hear references to these things, know that it's all the same thing. Yes, this topic is older than I am, but so long as they keep showing up in the Forums, even these venerable postings may deserve a response. In this case, the link goes to a general Yahoo site that has nothing evident about a Southern (US) recipe. An online search (I use Bing in order to avoid yet another Microsloth product) reveals the recipe in question is for "pimento cheese." What worked as of a minute or so ago is this: http://carolinafishmarket.com/the-southern-staple-everyone-should-know-how-to-make-pimento-cheese/

Maybe it is the recipe. Could try a different one. English muffins 1 3/4 cups (14 ounces) milk, warm 3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) butter 1 1/4 teaspoons salt 2 tablespoons (7/8 ounce) granulated sugar 1 large egg, lightly beaten 4 to 4 1/4 cups (17 to 18 ounces) King Arthur Unbleached Bread Flour 2 teaspoons instant yeast Place the ingredients in the pan of your bread machine following the manufacturer's instructions. Use the "dough" or "manual" setting. After the cycle is complete, transfer the dough to a cornmeal-sprinkled surface and roll it out until it's about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out circles with a floured 3-inch cutter. Re-roll and cut out the leftover dough. Cover the muffins with a damp cloth and let rest for about 20 minutes. Heat a frying pan or griddle to very low heat. Do not grease, but sprinkle with cornmeal. Cook four muffins at a time, cornmeal side down first, for about 7 minutes a side.

I have now started making them with fresh lemon or lime juice (about 1 cup juice to 3/4 cup sugar/honey mix) and also throwing in 2 cups of ginger tea.  Making what I think is not only a refreshing beverage but a cold & flu preventative. Look at the good I do.

Another one for you: If you buy chicken with the skin on and want to remove it, it's actually really easy - use a tea-towel to grip the slippery, fatty skin and simply tear it off towards the bone or joint. Around here chicken with the skin off costs way more than with it on, so have the best of both worlds.

It's actually best to buy them individually, as each brand has their own specialty. Dishwasher safe knives are usually worse quality than hand wash only. This site has good advice on buying knives;    http://www.spanganga.org

It could, U could make the rösti small like round circles, and then put the stuffed leek on the top of the rösti, and slice the leek smaller than mine, And then you might need to make some sort of sauce..

I made this dish  From the picture of Newmale's dish, I decided that the best local product to use was a good quality Bacon that I can get in the one meat market around here. They slice it to order and it is really"Smoked Pork Belly" which is Bacon but this is not the long strips like commercial pre-sliced Bacon. It is shorter in length than that kind of Bacon. :announce: It was **Fabulous!!! @Newmale <–-->    :urock:**
