There's really no arguing that it's ugly. And kind of alien-looking. And yeah, even downright gross. But dang it! Scobys make some delicious kombucha! If you want to save a few bucks on your 'booch habit, there's just no getting around it. You're going to need a scoby. You can beg a scoby from a kombucha-brewing friend, or you can order a fresh one online. But there's one more option: you can grow your own. What is a Scoby? "Scoby" is actually an acronym: Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast. And that's exactly what it is! A scoby is the living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform sweet tea into tangy, fizzy kombucha — think of the scoby as the coral reef of the bacteria and yeast world. It a rubbery raft that floats on the surface of the kombucha. Aside from being a home for yeast and good bacteria, the scoby seals off the fermenting kombucha from the air and protects it from outside, undesirable bacterias while it's fermenting. P.S. You'll also sometimes hear scobys referred to as "kombucha mothers" or "kombcha mushrooms." If you read or hear references to these things, know that it's all the same thing. Yes, this topic is older than I am, but so long as they keep showing up in the Forums, even these venerable postings may deserve a response. In this case, the link goes to a general Yahoo site that has nothing evident about a Southern (US) recipe. An online search (I use Bing in order to avoid yet another Microsloth product) reveals the recipe in question is for "pimento cheese." What worked as of a minute or so ago is this: http://carolinafishmarket.com/the-southern-staple-everyone-should-know-how-to-make-pimento-cheese/

Can't fault any of that. Bought meal says 'do not refreeze'. I ask why not! And always good to have a variety of potatoes in the freezer.

@Ellis: Sourdough bread, spread with basil pesto, topped with sun-dried tomatoes and a layer of mozzarella cheese–broiled for about a minute and a half. i'm not really a fan of open faced sandwiches, but that looks delicious.

oh yeah I didnt read the label it says carbonhydrate 97.6g ( out of 100g) which sugar 78g.. so yep I checked amazon ( didnt thought about it coz I usually boycott amazon because they own my country millions and destroy the economy by not paying any taxes), I'll probably order there if shipping charges are ok when I'm out.

I have found you don't even need to peel the apples if you want more roughage in your diet.  I pour a can of crushed pineapple on top of the apples before sprinkling the cake mix over.

Subway/Pita Pit ; though these things are easy to make at home - for some reason they don't taste quite as good as someone who prepares them for a living x=

A friend & I who regularly go to The Pickle Barrel always make a crack about that meatloaf.  I couldn't finish it when I ordered it.  What are your devious plans if you do get the recipe? I made a tomato peach pork loaf I might be able to recreate the recipe for if you'd like to try something yummy.  :cheesy2:

@LEVI: Yellow Lentil Dal 30 minutes or fewer In India, dal is the term used for all dried legumes, but it has also come to refer to a simple, nourishing stew-like preparation served with rice or flat bread. This recipe can be made with any type of lentil, just increase the cooking time 10 to 15 minutes if using black or green lentils. This is a simple recipe there are others that call for more ingredients. 2 Tbs. canola oil 3 tsp. whole cumin seeds 2 tsp. red pepper flakes 1 medium onion, diced (1 ½ cups) 2 cloves garlic, minced (2 tsp.) 1 tsp. salt 1 ½ cups yellow lentils, sorted and rinsed 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth 1 tsp. ground turmeric 1. Heat oil in saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in cumin and red pepper flakes, and sauté 1 minute. Add onion, garlic, and salt, and sauté 1 minute more. 2. Add lentils, vegetable broth, 2 cups water, and turmeric. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 25 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. You can also use a hand blender to chop up the lentils after cooking to make it not as thick. Thanks for sharing the recipe!!!  I'm a bit of a foodie and I LOVE trying out new things
