@Kevin4fm Yes. This is the ladybug button of which I speak. By default, it is in the bottom right corner of the page, but for some things that I do with the settings I have, it's a bit annoying there, so I have mine set to the top right corner of the page instead.

@ianfontinell In that case, use the ladybug button

@FAII Yes... Click your username in the top right corner, then click "Profile". From the tab down the left side, click "Search". The last item at the bottom if enabled will stop this from defaulting to Relevance as soon as you start typing.

I hate the new layout. The old version was much better and more user friendly

Is there something in particular you're having issues with? There's many things that can be customized to your individual tastes. I'd be happy to help walk you through it.

    • RE: [Software Release] GayTor.rent Upload Utility

@Kevin4fm They are also referred to as symlinks in Windows. They can be created using a tool called Junction, which is available either from MSDN or TechNet (I forget which MS brand they're under).

If they're something that enough people want, I can also upload it to my personal server and drop the link for users to be able to just go straight to the software itself, without having to jump through all the hoops.

in honest,i like the old site better😧 too complicated to search

You can change the default layout of the search page so that it is not all that much different than the old site. To get to it by default, click "Torrents", then click "Detailed" for something that is quite similar to the "new" layout in the old site version, or click on "Compact" to get something quite similar to the "old" search in the old site.

The search bar is a little different, but everything else about the page is almost exactly the same as the old site. There's even things that you can customize if you don't like the defaults to either work the same as, or be better than (depending on your preferences) the way it was in the old site.

It should also be noted that the key differences in the search function is that there are now a bunch more options available such as the ability to use wild cards, as well as the ability to search categories together (ie the torrent has to fall in both categories to appear), as well as the ability to search by relevance.

Most of the time when duplicate torrents would get uploaded, it was because the only way to really search for a torrent was to filter it by order in which they were uploaded, but when torrents were several years old, you often had to dig so deep in the results to find it that the original was more or less buried. With the ability to search by relevance, the torrent you're looking for is actually likely to show up close to the top of the results, even if it is an older torrent.

So yes.. It does take a little getting used to, but there's far more benefit to the new style in my opinion than there ever could have been from the old site.

      @underlvr said:

Most of the changes are fine but there are a couple that are irritating.

Not having pic thumbnails along the top of the listing in the compact (legacy) view and not having the file/comment listings as a hover pop-up.

There is an option to turn these on/off and even change how they appear in your profile settings. The pop ups are turned off for files by default, but you can go into your settings and turn them on. You can also choose whether they pop up simply by hovering over the number of files in the results page, or if you have to click the number of files to make it pop up.

Click your username in the top right corner of the page on the torrent side, then go to "Profile". Down the left side click on "Search", then in the row of tabs at the top of the page, click on "Results list". The option you'll be looking for is "File list / comments popup".

    • RE: No ability to thank any more?

@bbbbbbmot The option is not gone... It's only been moved further down the page and got a bit of a face lift. It's now a button system instead of a drop down menu, but it's still there.

    • RE: Why?

@ianfontinell Exactly. He's even gone to great lengths to ensure that for the people who don't like change, there are ways of making the site look, feel, and behave in an eerily similar manner to the old site design, while at the same time having all up to date coding in a much newer version of PHP so that it will remain functional for the long term.

Part of the problem was that the version of PHP that the old site ran on is getting to the end-of-life stage of support, meaning as the server OS updates, it will no longer support the old version, which would render the site useless more or less. If we did not at least do some updates to the site to make it run in a newer version of PHP, eventually the site would have stopped working completely.

So while he was at it, he added a lot of bad ass features and customization options to do what I think is a damn fine job at making sure there's a setting for everything for just about everyone. You can't please everyone, but you can come pretty damn close with the customization options that are now available.

    • RE: Torrents Being Uploaded Without At Least One Image

@WikiDude The problem with this is that when I started doing some digging to see if I was able to duplicate the issue, if there were no pictures uploaded when the torrent was uploaded, then nothing will display for pictures on any of the search pages.

This is even true after pictures have been added to the torrent AND have been approved. Once the pictures are approved, they should then show on the search pages, but they don't. That's why I used the ladybug button, as that is the best way for @Joker to be able to look at and work on the bugs.

    • RE: Content

@Tristannn Most content in the forum will be limited to images. There are SOME posts where you can find videos, but these are usually done by posting a link to a video on YouTube.

If you're looking for just images on the torrent side of things, you can find this in the images category.

    • RE: Why?

@Playmate What in particular are you having a problem with? I'd be more than happy to walk you through not only how to navigate the site and forum, but also show you how to customize things to make them more to your liking.

For example, did you know that while the old site itself is gone, there are many things that you can customize to make the new site work and feel much like the old site? These are all things that can be done within your settings, so if you can point me to what specifically you are struggling with, I can help get you setup.

    • RE: Not Enough Memory

@tarrat This may be a sign that you have too many torrents active within uTorrent. Even running on 64 GB of RAM, I sometimes have this problem when I have too many torrents within the app.

Usually stopping some torrents will get around this, but in some cases, I need to actually remove them entirely.

Lastly, what OS are you running? What version of uTorrent are you running? How much RAM do you have installed in your PC?

    • RE: Search by category

You can find the "Legacy" view by clicking "Torrents", then under search, click "Compact".

The "Legacy" view is essentially the "Old Search" from the old site. The only real difference being the coding behind the scenes that you as the user generally never see has all been updated for compatibility with the options that will be available (like the PHP version) for long term support.

@ianfontinell When users do this and it comes to my attention, I have a policy. I will first reach out to the uploader and give them a fair chance to get things right by uploading proper pictures. Sometimes the issue is either a lack of understanding what needs to be done, or there was a technical problem when the upload was submitted.

If the user fails to acknowledge the request for pictures in a short order, I will take further action. The first thing that I will do if a user ignores requests to correct the problem and upload proper pictures is delete the torrent if they have not done so in a reasonable amount of time. If the user is a repeat offender and/or has done this on multiple torrents, then I will issue a warning and/or revoke their upload rights.

Now... If a user DOES correct the issue, then I simply drop the report and move on, as they have corrected the issue. Before taking any kind of serious action against a user for doing something like not uploading pictures though, I will ALWAYS give them a fair chance to correct the problem. Rest assured though, if I get the report of torrent presentations that are lacking in one way or another, I WILL take action, so just because the pictures may not be corrected right away, or the torrent does not get removed right away, do not think that it won't be handled, because I absolutely WILL stay on top of it.
