Yes I am in the wrong place haha. I made an account on g-t.net before I was invited to this site and after comparing the two I don't see any reason to keep my account over there.

I cannot find any option to delete my account over there and also cannot log into the forums (user does not exist message). There is no IRC channel as far as I can tell either.

It's not that important, but I like to delete accounts I'm not using to cut down on digital clutter. Can anyone help?

@rdgur I'm not a mod over there, but I do have connections with mods there. If you list your username there (or DM it to me if you are concerned about privacy), and I can definitely assist with your request by forwarding it to one of my contacts there.

@rdgur If you can't log into the forum, then just send a message on the Torrent site to: Irrumator.

Click on your name in the upper right corner of the torrent site. Then on the left side under your avatar, click on "Send Private Message".

He can sort out your request.

imo this is too much work for something so unimportant, it is common practice to not delete user accounts without a very good reason. "i don't want it" is a very good reason but it is subject to the user changing their mind, so the mods will try to dissuade them from the idea. it can also come off as taking the entire site for granted, like it just isn't worth even having an account there.

Once again I'd like to remind everyone that it's not mandatory that you speak.

@jokuihmemies That happened a few years ago when they changed their Forum software. Torrent software hasn't been changed to match the forum, yet.

You can change one of the passwords to match the other if you want. You'll need to PM an Admin to have them do it for you. If you try to change the Torrent side password yourself, you might get locked out until an Admin helps. There's a bug with older accounts and changing passwords in the Torrent software.

I agree. I don't understand why people don't simply stop logging in, and just leave their account to rot. I'm sure I still have countless accounts created on websites I haven't logged into in years. I delete one or two websites from my password list, without giving it a second thought, every time I update it. Over 12 single spaced printed pages of accounts on that list. I really should delete more, more often.

@Dracula975 Normally I'd agree 100%, but following the demise of gay-area.org I can understand why some might want to disassociate themselves from sites they no longer actively use. I doubt it would really make much difference, but if people want to take such steps then that's fine too.

@rdgur OK, I just had a quick look on their forums. There's a whole thread with people who ask about how to delete, and admins have responded that you need to PM one of them about it. Only admins are able to delete accounts, which I suppose makes sense as they don't want someone with a bad history simply deleting and returning with a clean slate.

Since you say you're having trouble accessing the forums there I'm happy to act as a go-between to help get your forum access back, after which you should be able to discuss your situation with the powers-that-be. Feel free to PM me with your username and details of the problem and I can pass it on.
