The funny thing about sexuality is that when I started having sexual "urges" around puberty, I don't remember anyone making me choose boys or girls…..so I chose both.  ;D For any church or organization to disassociate itself because it is so blind or phobic has been an age old complaint from our community, but now we have the proof of what we have know all along...same sex attraction is NOT a disorder or a sickness.  Declarations like this from the APA and other organizations are the steps we need to move forward and finally get equal rights and the recognition we deserve.

These so called god fearing people have no idea what it is like growing up gay and the FEAR of being ridiculed for who you are, I think they need to look @ their true darkness inside of them and get over their own insecurities of gay men/women coming on to them.  We know who is gay and not, so get over it you holier than thou people.  God made is different, thats why we have a word DIVERSITY.  I truly wish all men were gay, the world might be less populated, and less hate.  Get over it you Hypocrits.  Jibber!!!!

I mostly agree with Gr1zz, but I don't completely believe the 1 in 10 "statistic" or any gay population statistic really. I've read that portions of the Kinsey report, including the gay statistics,  have been debunked. One article mentioned that a person who was working for him was gay and conducted his surveys mainly in areas which had high gay populations. I'm not saying I believe that either tho. -lol It's difficult for me to believe ANY of these sorts of statistics because it seems nearly impossible to get accurate results, or even close. The statistics that I did read ranged anywhere from 1% - 10%, and most were in the range of 2%-5%. Here's the big flaw with all of them; I for example have never participated in one of these surveys and there is no public record which would indicate that I am gay. How many other people out there are like me? It is of course a very high number folks. Some people lie on those surveys anyhow because they're a bit hesitant of admitting their sexuality on paper. Also, many statistics are of gay couples or couples living together and do not account for singles. It's still of course true, every vote counts…

Hmm… do something that will bring people running to see your billboard, then put an ad on it for something you want to sell.  Isn't this called "marketing", folks? It reminds me of an incident a few years ago, in a park that had developed a reputation for, well, let's just say it had a reputation.  Someone set fire to a car in the parking lot, let it burn down, and didn't bother to remove the remains.  Visitors to the park would make up their own stories, and leave.  There were car parts still in the same place over 6 months later, and most of the previously-regular visitors were going elsewhere. Another successful publicity stunt.

IMHO: If gay people are required to pay this tax simply for who we love and live with then the entire tax system should be re-aligned to remove any taxes which do not apply to us .Like school system taxes… if you do not have children you should not have to pay taxes into a system that has no benefit to you as an individual. As single taxpayers we support many programs that wil never have any benefit for us. I for one am sick of the higher taxes we are forced into paying because we can't get married and qualify for the discounts given heterosexuals for simply breeding. It is definitely time for another World Wide "TEA PARTY" and taxation without representation is just as wrong today as in  the 1700's!!! BTW: I do realize this is not in the States but I feel sure this couple pays thru taxes for many services they will never benefit from directly.I am just saying that if we pay this tax then that should make us exempt from other taxes by way of equality in taxes.To be required to pay taxes for who we love should be so illegal that the entire planet should revolt and one would think they would. If the taxes for families increased due to SINGLES not having to pay for school taxes there would be such an uproar you would never hear the end of it. Heteros seldom want to consider life from another perspective and politicians never allow these thoughts to enter into their considerations.

@trentreviso: The march was an attempt by the Russian gay community to attract attention to the issue of human rights, especially as it relates to gays. well, atleast they managed their goal (though not the way they intended).

Republicans will use any trick in the book to try to explain away their hatred of gays.

This reminds me of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. In favor of civil unions, but not actually in favor of gay "marriage." And, in Clinton's case, she favors the right of states to deny both civil unions and marriage, if they choose. I appreciate President da Silva's support. But, there is a long way to go, and much work yet to be done.
