@luisfmm: Hey guys, not the most savvy when it comes to torrents, but I know my way around. I've read the guide and know that there's a recommendation to use uTorrent, which is precisely the client I've always used. However, I've noticed that my upload rate is really low for torrents from this particular website/tracker (tw), even if they're recent and popular. Is this a recurring theme? When I download from other websites or trackers the upload rate is usually pretty good so I know my internet isn't the issue. Am I doing anything wrong? Recent and popular videos that have a lot of peers could naturally result in low upload speeds because of the nature of torrenting.  If torrents from other sites don't exhibit the same problem, then it is most likely just bad luck. If a torrent is not recent and popular, for instance if you're the only seeder, then upload speed would also depend on the downloader's download speed.  I frequently see rates of 0.7 KB/s.  Might not be their actual maximum download speed but maybe there is some other bottleneck such as their ISP limiting certain kinds of traffic.

@chia: search for ss108 from your link and click on the result. awesome workaround btw  :funny2: Right.  A Google search often returns results for torrents that are no longer available on the site because Google caches pages on their own systems for faster search results.

@Pornbaron: Does anyone else find the new browser is reducing the use of the site? I used to use the browser when it was 1 pic per post showing to quickly scan to find vids of interest and then hover over to see the other pics. Now with very long series of pics for a vid, its almost impossible to spot vids with only one pic showing. This has greatly reduced my use of the site. Quite frankly I think it is selfish of the posters if its done deliberately - like trying to drown out other posters. Personally, I would like to see it deactivated. PB It is irritating but I don't think it's done deliberately to crowd out other posters.  Some studios make those strips of photos available for publicity.  There must be some reason they release them in that format but I don't know what it is.  Perhaps it is a tradition from pre-digital times related to proofs?  If anyone knows the reason, I would be very interested to know.

@bearbearbear: Yes, promoted, it has the recycle symbol and if you check the torrent page you'll see the original upload date.  You don't need to download the torrent file again if you are seeding as the old one still works. Thanks Bear.bearbear That was a helpful reply. That listing is being sorted by upload date so it's weird to me that not only should an old file appear first in the list but that the file information would show something that a reasonable person would assume to be the upload date when in fact it's something else. imo users should have to click into a file to determine its actual upload date and and upload date sort should actually sort by upload date; promoted file or not. I will offer this as feedback to the site devs.

I like being able to use a regular Google search for this site because it is easier to pinpoint what I'm looking for and also torrents that are no longer available here sometimes show in search results.  The on-site search feature here has been very wonky at times, to say the least.

@pisakid: I have four downloads waiting for about 24 hours saying they are looking for peers. Sorry if this is in the wrong place to seek advice. Thanks pisakid What do the individual torrent pages here on gt.ru say about the number of seeders and leechers?

@Liquid: Is anyone else having trouble scrolling through images (ie. click left or right button) on torrents since the site upgrade?  For me, sometimes it works, sometimes I just get the single image and have to back out then select the next image. I've noticed that sometimes when I click on the right hand forward arrow on an enlarged image that it will go back to the previous photo.  Then the next click and subsequent clicks go forward as normal.  May be related.

@miki200: damn ratio problems i know that It's also good to know that responding to threads with the prior response from 2 and 1/2 years ago is unlikely to be helpful.  Try raising your own ratio via an early jump on Freeleeches. The single Seedpoint you gained from your response here is a drop in the bucket, and pushes other, more current threads down the ladder.  Good luck in your efforts.

@ridealong24: Yes there is something fundamentally wrong with torrent distribution. I have been posting several absolute new vids and seen my upload speed go into the ceiling for then go back to the lousy 2-24 kb/s after the vid have reached a single complete upload, or stop completely at sharing aspect 1,5 while seeing it has been snatched 50 times and more. When i download something the speed is in MB and my upload speed on the same stays in the few kb despite i know my upload speed is better. And the low speed upload ends immediately after the download is complete. Yes i have been lucky with some freeleeches, particularly the christmas offers. And i have understood the advices on how to get up ratio, but the problem remains. Torrent clients prefer using those who have higher speed, and that is probably those who use seed boxes. Its unfair. And the problem lies in the torrent technology. Its fucking inferior technology. So meanwhile I use eMule, and i upload TBs monthly there. I have no problem with my sharing ratio there, its 10-20 GB down pr month, and I think its ok. The reason to use gay torrent is of course the browse and search possibilities. And there are offers not available by emule, but also th other way around. Adding a file for upload for emule is as easy as putting it in a new folder while releasing a torrent is .. yes you know, but i think the process of searching up for not making duplicates are tedious, and i usually gets lost in surfing and forget about adding torrents. And right now- have got a new pc, and when i add some of the old torrents, they start downloading again, despite me having the file. I really want other ways of spoiling my ratio. Any ideas why ? This is often the sign that your port forwarding settings are not in order. You need to make sure that the port that your torrent client uses is forwarded through your home router or VPN to your computer, both in TCP and in UDP. This is a critical, yet often overlooked step, which is necessary for getting proper upload traffic on our tracker.

@EternalV: Hello so I've created a new torrent after following the upload instructions but I still seem to have trouble getting it to seed. I've downloaded the torrent file, directed it to the location of the torrent and checked to make sure that my tracker urls match but I just can't seem to get the torrent to download so I can start seeding. For what it's worth I'm on a mac and I'm using utorrent. You shouldn't be able to download a torrent you are trying to seed/upload because you already have it on your computer and your torrent software can't initially seed it and download it both at the same time. If you downloaded the torrent file from this site, added it to your torrent software, and your software matched it to the torrent video file, checked it, and shows it as completed just like torrents you've downloaded and are seeding, then everything should be okay.  Otherwise, something you are describing is inaccurate. When you go to the torrent page here, what does it show as far as seeders and leechers?

Upload several small sets, say between 5 and 10gb.

@KittyFemboi: Hi all, hope I'm posting this in the right section. When I try to search on the image browse page I find that if I add any level of subcategory search depth, the page is stuck loading and even when left for 20 minutes doesn't get anywhere. Tried this on Firefox, Chrome and Edge and all get the same result of having the refresh arrows at the top but nothing loads. Tried fresh reinstalls for all incase it was an extension issue. Appologies if this is the wrong place to file a question or if this is already answered. I couldn't find anything in my own searches and to my understanding this seemed like the most relevant section to post in. The same thing was happening for me a few weeks ago even when no categories were checked and I tried disabling all extensions, messing with my settings, another browser, etc. just like you have.  It resolved a couple of days later, not sure why, and I just checked and it's not happening for me now, with or without categories.  So I can't really offer any advice but it might make you feel better to know that you're not the only one who has experienced that.
