Another thing that can help is to only download part of a new multi-file torrent: For example, if a torrent has multiple files and total size of 10 GB, I find that if I select only 5% of those files for downloading, I'll get them quickly and then seed them back to other users at a high speed. Fan site torrents are especially good for this. There was one about a week ago where I did this, and my share ratio for that torrent alone is about 13 right now. I'll probably keep it for another week and then delete it. The only downside to this approach is that this torrent will count against your allowable download slots even when you've downloaded everything you selected. I think that's a small price to pay for pumping up your ratio. Good luck with this, and let us know how it turns out for you.

@drekkin Yeah I know what you mean... it seems like more and more users are uploading repeat videos and "compilations" just to boost their ratios so the site is now flooded with a hundred copies of every video... Especially with the Asian themed videos they like to make a "compilation" or collection of already uploaded stuff lol

You can't force anything, torrents are demand related. For example: If you upload your own torrent, you are the only one able to upload, if one person downloads your torrent there will be a demand that only you can fulfill. Once that person finishes downloading, the two of you are able to seed it. If a third person downloads the torrent, they might download from you both at the same time, or if you have a poor connection at the time you might don't even be contacted by their torrent client at all. All you need to do is just keep seeding everything you download, but you're very unlikely to equally upload every byte you downloaded for all torrents. Best you can do if you're really aiming to improving your ratio is sticking to freeleech content or uploading your own stuff.

Is it policy for helpdesk to reset everything to give me a clean slate or am I stuck with this permanently? There's no reset of anything, in any situation. Either way, it can't be a bug if it only happens on your account. What you need to understand is that YOU need to do something to find out what's happening since it's not a server-side issue. Wait so it is possible my account got hacked? That's my guess based on the simptom, either someone has access to your torrent files, or to your account, or there are issues with your torrent client. All that said, you can either reset your passkey and deal with the headaches of it, knowing this most likely the fastest and safest way to solve the issue. Or you can logout right now and wait 240 days for your account to be deleted for inactivity. With a ratio bellow 1 you can't even have the luxury of deleting your account, if you don't do anything it'll just be a zombie account that's completely useless.

It relies and depends on your bandwidth ... In computing, bandwidth is the maximum rate of data transfer across a given path. For many users, uploading files is quite a bit slower than downloading files. This is usually normal, because most high-speed Internet connections, including cable modems and DSL, are asymmetric — they are designed to provide much better speed for downloading than uploading.

One thing you might want to check is whether you have a lot of torrents that you've intentionally downloaded part of but not all of. If you choose to just download some of the files in a torrent you can end up showing as a 'leecher' of that torrent and you get treated as if you're permanently trying to download it. On the main site, if you click the up/down arrows on the top bar you'll be taken to a page of statistics about yourself. If you then click 'show leeching torrents' at the bottom, you'll see the list of torrents that the system believes you're downloading. From your torrent client you could remove some of those if you're not trying to download any more of them, and that might free you up.
