Straight people will think we're depraved and disgusting no matter what we do. I'm not Mormon. I'm baptist/lutheran christian. But I had an aunt who was. I remember afterschool I would go my aunts house while my parents worked. She kinda lived in the ghetto or urban area of town. I had to been around 8/9 years old. She had this elder who was a tall and skinny white guy in his 20s that had dirty blonde crew cut hair and he was so nice and handsome. He would come to her house once a week as she was disabled and couldn't go to the church. They would pray and have bible study. After that he would do any housework she needed help with. I remember he helped me with my homework sometimes too and I would play games with him as my aunt had a big backyard and he would bring me candy and chips and soda and shit. He then go on his bike and go home. Still today I see the elders on their bikes trying to get people to convert to being Mormon and I think it's cute. I disagree sorry. I'm not going to become Mormon, but they aren't terrible people.

@ChicanoDag: Interesting questions.  Not as simple as I first thought when I read the title. Upon reflection, I think that I act as if there are different types of virginity.  When contacted on a hook-up app, I never ask if someone is a virgin.  I'll always ask, "Have you been butt fucked?" and "Have you been throat fucked?"  The answer varies.  Someone can give great blow jobs but have never been fucked in the ass.  Someone can love being butt fucked but never been throat fucked. See, I can train a virgin, but it's not really something I want to do.  Helping a virgin with their first time being butt fucked or throat fucked takes a lot of time, patience and energy.  Not something I want to invest in when I'm looking for a quick fuck on a hook-up app. As for your last question, it depends on the definition of "gay."  In my mind, at least, gay and homosexual and queer are not all the same things.  I see gay as relating to culture.  Homosexual as the simple physical desire and attraction towards someone of the same gender.  And queer as meaning anyone who is not straight (gay, lesbian, bi, trans, asexual, etc). But then, maybe the question isn't important.  If you want to go to gay discos and hang rainbow flags all over your home, go for it.  I don't care who you're fucking.  If you want to fuck a man and then afterwards you want to fuck a woman, I don't see why anyone should have the right to judge you.  Pursue the relationships you want.  Have sex or don't have sex on YOUR timetable.  Resist the pressure to be something you're not.  Do what make YOU happy. Sounds like another non issue on a site that doesn't matter anyway. How about the gays being slaughtered in the middle east? Is that too controversial to report about in the news? Cause in my opinion that's a lot bigger problem than some conservative site whining about a kiss.

The only thing I have to say is that your mid-30s is definitely NOT considered old or even close to old in gay circles (in fact you're not even close to old for general society either). I believe that what you're having is a life crisis. You suddenly become more aware of what is happening around you, and any "bad" thing in your life becomes more prominent. It's definitely not a fun phase, but it will eventually go away. It's a normal thing that happens to most people when we reach certain points in our lives: first crisis comes a bit after graduating high-school and starting being an adult: you suddenly realize how big the world is and what a vast variety of options and possibilities exist for you to discover. The second crisis is your middle 20s, where you reach a point you suddenly stop your experimentation, and have that "what the hell am I doing" moment of realization. That phase is usually the one where we put down all different experiences and things we have done, and try to find which ones are the ones we should go with and which ones to discard and just keep them as memories. Last, once you reach your middle 30s, you stop again. And I'm still on my second life crisis, but I have a lot of people around me who have reached that third phase, some of them long time ago, and I have a feeling of what it may be like for you. It's that phase, the one you get that "shouldn't I have settled down already?" moment hit you. But the answer to this question is not always "yes". Just because you have been on this planet for three decades and a bit, it doesn't mean you should have already found "home". Keep searching. Keep experimenting. Keep looking into new stuff to try, and never be afraid of doing something new, even if doesn't feel completely right. Start seeing yourself in a different way, and that will make others see you in a different way too. "But when will love come?", you may ask. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in 10 years from now, maybe never. But that shouldn't make you feel sad! Cause, yes, loneliness might be scary, but solitude in the romantic area doesn't equal loneliness. You were not born to eternally try to find your "special other". You were born to live your life at it's fullest, create your own philosophy, gain as much experience as you can, meet as many people as you can, and maybe, MAYBE, one of those people will be the romantic partner you will share the rest of your life with. Once you make this clear to yourself and you accept it fully, only, and ONLY then you will be ready to get out of this crisis and continue your life-long journey

So this thread seems to have morphed into a sort of discussion on the merits of marriage. Personally, while I understand some of those who have no interest in marriage, I feel that it's an important institution not because of the inherent heteronormativity- but because of the deeper symbolism. It's a significant celebration of commitment between two people. It's powerful because of what it represents, as well as all the benefits that society has heaped on it as part of supporting that level of commitment. Sure you could quietly stay together as a couple without ever getting married- but for others it matters because it helps them proudly have their commitment recognized by their community and by the legal institutions which can protect their commitment to each other. Back on topic- living in a country with a strong Catholic presence that meddles in all aspects of life- it isn't likely to be legalized here anytime soon. But the recent level of acceptance in other countries is encouraging. I'm confident someday it will be possible.
