Do email notifications work?

In Profile Settings > Content Preferences, is "Notify me when I have received a PM" for email notifications? I have it enabled but I never get email notifications when I have messages on the site or replies in the forum.

@thedude99 It seems to be sporadic, or at least there are some sort of intricate rules at play.
I've certainly received email alerts that I have a PM. But I'm sure I've also had PMs that I've only become aware of when visiting the site.
It may perhaps be that PMs from other members trigger a message, whilst those from "system" - and maybe moderators? - don't. I'm pretty sure I've never received an email about a reseed request, for example. But then, I don't get a lot of non-system PMs, so probably not enough to mentally spot some kind of pattern.

I've only had one or 2 email notifications from the site that I can remember, and they were regarding a message from another member. I don't get them for reseed requests or freeleech notifications, so that might be the intended behaviour. I hope it is, because I don't want my email spammed with a dozen reseed emails every day.

Yeah it seems to be an issue. I get an email maybe 20% of the time.

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit? When you register for an account, you'll always come back to exactly where you were before, and choose to be notified of new replies (either via email, or push notification). You'll also be able to save bookmarks and upvote posts to show your appreciation to other community members.
