@jrewingwanna @Kenno Jonh already answered, but it's this one here:
https://stashapp.ccIf I understand it correctly it uses it's own database so you have to create it yourself, you have to input the actors and tags by hand for instance, but it does grab the information on the files and automatically identify which actors are in which movies (if the information is present on the movie file), it also can sort Tags and Studios, I'm also not sure if it does streaming to other platforms. Like I said it's not nearly as smart as Plex or others.
But the things I like about it is that it's extremely editable, you can add actors and link tags to those actors, you can add any tags you want, you can search for videos that have all the tags you want, you can separate the scenes in your movies, etc...
So it's kinda of a trade of, it's definitely more annoying to maintain, but it's so much better to organize and find stuff.

@bear1515 cool - thanks! The lack of streaming externally to others would exclude it as an alternative for me, I have quite a number of friends who regularly remotely access my media libraries, but I like the other parts you describe of it .. I might check it out to see if I can use in conjunction with Plex.
Plex only allows a few fields to be modified via the user interface so I had to write some scripts to edit metadata (actors, directors, studio, etc.) in the media files themselves.. works just fine but the bad news w/ that approach the file is modified, slightly, so that means one I update it for Plex usage I can't use that file again for reseed requests on here. First world problems I suppose.. lol

@jrewingwanna
I think the great benefit of Plex and Jellyfin is the number of devices that have apps for them. Even old smart TVs have apps and so do the various fire, roku sticks etc. I use Plex for ordinary shows and films which I don't mind others ( and/or their visiting children) seeing and Jellyfin for porn.I also run Plex from a seedbox. This works very well with friends and family as if it doesn't work for them - the problem is their end not mine. No bandwidth issues either.

Am I the only one who uses a Samba server to use Windows File Sharing to be able to share and stream content between my machines on my local network? I even have a VPN server arrangement to be able to login to my network securely from a remote location and access content using the internet.
-
@MrMazda
Probably.
Its just much easier if you are in a hotel room to use the Smart TV to logon and watch your video using Plex or Jellyfin. Go straight to last series, film or whatever you were watching.
No laptop required. -
@nix54 What hotels do you go to? The ones I go to do not have that capability built into the custom smart TV.... But when I'm staying in hotels like Caesar's Windsor (the Canadian sister hotel/casino to Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV), a laptop or at the very least, a router you can use as a WAP for your room is almost mandatory. In many rooms, the WiFi works better in the hallways than it does in the room, but even then it can be pretty insufferable. Their hard wired network seems to work quite nicely though, so I usually just use my laptop as a hard wired WAP for my room. It's super MacGyver of me, but it works and also allows me to put a layer of VPN between my stuff and the unsecured free hotel network.

Following ... ?
I deleted my earlier response as not really due or appropriate ... though I suspect @MrMazda has probably, as a moderator, read it anyway. Apologies. -
@nix54 I wrote following so I'd get updated on new comments here. Alright?

@IncubusAZ Have you clicked on the bell icon to the left of the REPLY button and selected "Watching"? That'll give you a notification if anyone posts to the thread.
(You've probably already done this, but I only mention it in case you hadn't seen it.)

@frostycab Thanks. Had not seen that. Still finding my way around here.
