Mostly girls, but also one male best friend.

I am 43yo - no straight male friends.. It is something i have thought about - like the why and the how but it is what it is… My Best Friends are 4 ppl - 2 female. 2 Male - the two males are a couple in another country as is one of the females, I see them but obviously not often.

But I do agree, based on what I've seen with other gay friends, most their closest ones seem to be female

It's a mix for me…Although i'd say it's like 75% female, 25% male. My CLOSEST friend is female though.
When I hang with my female friends, it's usually about gossip...like talking about hot guys and stuff.
When I hang with my guy friends, it's usually about video games and drinking/bar hopping. -
My best friends are two guys I’ve known since 1982.

Looking back as far as I can remember, it’s always been guys--for the most part, any female best friends came in the form of being girlfriends or fuck buddies as well.

gay & male. initially, we were sketchy on sordid details of our romantic lives, as those were a little too close for comfort, but over the years we seem to have accepted these as facts of life. we're comfortable with eachother, but very much like siblings. i have female acquaintances but not that many friends.
