I am available over the holidays for assistance with setting up the NAT correctly. I support all makes/models of hardware, and can offer remote assistance over TeamViewer. It's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux (Debian Package / RPM / Tar Ball). It's free to use and it works over a secure connection. I can also do telephone support walk through in many places in the world if I dial out to you, and it's potentially free if you have a long distance plan that includes Canadian OR US calling. I have digits in both countries that will route the call through to me. 🙂

I've got this problem too. Except I'm forwarding my port correctly. And yet I still can't actually seed anything from this site for some reason, even though, according to my profile, most of the torrents I'm seeding have people leeching off of them.

When I look now, nearly all torrents you seed got zero downloading peers.

And the few which got 1 or two downloading peers got multiple files, except 1. So it will most likely be "phantom" downloading peers, having selected not to get all files and seeding all they wanted. The tracker just has to show thm as downloading peers, because they can't be seeds (which need to have all files).

Conclusion: It looks like missing demand. no download = no upload.

Well, most of the stuff I'm into isn't exactly popular so I can see that happening. It's still rather unfair, though. Especially since I'm running low on HDD space and can't afford to seed movies I'm not interested in just to keep my ratio up.

This is caused by a minority of seedboxing users doing the majority of the uploading for the website.  There is no way to get around this–you're at the mercy of whether or not a seedboxer is seeding the torrent in question.

This has a domino effect: Anyone who isn't using a seedbox will inevitably get a low ratio if they continue to download regularly, which discourages them from downloading further, which shrinks the potential leecher pool.  The end result is an enormous pool of competing seeders with virtually no leechers.

I've uploaded multiple torrents to this site.  The result is always the same: Shortly after my file gets snatched by seedboxers, they end up serving virtually all of the leechers by themselves.

I'm having the same problem as well. Just got the message my ratio is not sufficient anymore (currently at 0.608 with 707 gb downloaded and 430gb uploaded). I've been keeping all the torrents I've downloaded active and seeding for at least half a year, my server running ktorrent is running constantly, my NAT is setup correctly (at least if someone's downloading it will upload at about 5mbit, which is the limit I set) but it seems impossible to satisfy the incredible ratio demands.

interestingly enough, I'm getting 'Seed requests' in my mailbox constantly. if I see one of those I make sure the torrent is actively seeding - and lo and behold, it is. usually with 0.00mb uploaded total. even if I've uploaded a lot of such a torrent, if I check my profile for seeding torrents it's not listed. so basically I'm seeding gigabytes of data without the site noticing and then get reprimanded and limited. for example, one torrent of 1.79gigs shows I haven't uploaded anything. if I check in ktorrent, it shows how I've uploaded 13.05 gigs. others I've been seeding and never managed to upload anything but still.

this is incredibly annoying, the site would've such a good search and layout, but if they can't reliably track how much a user has uploaded, they really shouldn't have such a strict ratio system.

You are comparing data which can't be compared, because what you see in ktorrent is the upload over all the time since you added the torrent to ktorrent. What you see on the site are "live" data from the tracker, which are reset to zero when you stop the torrent, stop ktorrent, pause the torrent too long, restart you computer or the tracker reboots (last time 5 days ago).

However, the grand total of upload and download (except freeleech) adds all the torrents uploads and downloads since ever, but it is not stored by torrent, just a big everything in two pots.

interesting. so even counting all the data that's been uploaded I have no chance of getting the necessary torrent ratio as there's simply not enough demand for the torrents? that's even worse tbh - I was hoping there was something I could do to get the tracker to recognize my uploads, but if it already does, I'll never be able to get the uploads needed. I already run my torrent client 24/7 (except the occasional reboot every few months) since I joined, there's no way I can do more.

well, it's been a good run, I guess once my download privileges have been revoked I'm gonna stop seeding and move on and look for another site with a bit more sane requirements.

It's not so much how long you leave everything running but what you are seeding.

And you could use your seed bonus points to completely wipe out your deficit 🙂

As cannonmc suggested you have enough SBP to buy your way to your minimum ratio. You could always upload a new torrent. If you are seeding a torrent or have downloaded a torrent and it has no seeders or you are either the only seeder or it has very few seeders (one or two others besides yourself) you could always make it freeleech. I noticed you have never voted on the categories of the torrents you have completely downloaded. You have many options, but you best one to dig yourself out of 84 GB is to either buy your way free or upload new torrents and in your case I would suggest collections and not single files.

I have been having the same issue. I am a network architect. I have done everything I can think of and followed any suggestions. Nothing has worked. I get awesome speeds everywhere except here.

I am beginning to think it is a ploy to get us to donate. At the donation rate they offer is a joke. Way too expensive for a few GB.

Members need to understand that it is their downloads which will generate uploads for others and that high ratio is not a purpose on its own. Even assuming the highest minimum ratio requirement of 0.800 it means downloads will generate upload at other members allowing to download 1.25 times of that.

So what we need are members with high share ratio and high absolute values (ratio above lets say 2.000 and upload above 50 GB) are starting actually to download.

It is not helpful to the community to try to have skyscraper high ratio, ratios between 0.8 and 1.25 are much healthier.

In short: We need more downloads!

                              Popper,

If GT is aware of the problem. Then why don't they make adjustments to help correct it?

I leave my computer on majority of the time so I can share. I have been trying for quite a few months to raise my ratio above .80
Guess what. I can't download because I fell below .80 but, my upload speeds to GT are near non-existent. (catch 22)

I can only imagine the number of members that are having the same problem as I. We can't download till we raise our upload but, not enough members are downloading to raise our ratio.

So, If the problem with upload speeds is that there are not enough people downloading. Then you need to lower the ratio and put the bonus received for uploading on a sliding scale. Once a member passes say 1.25 ratio that the bonus decreases as that members ratio continues gets higher. This will motivate those with a low ratio to upload. At the same time it will make it less appealing to the high ratios that don't download.

Just my 2 cents. Maybe it will give GT something to think about.

All of the 10+ torrents you are seedng have zero leechers….. one or two have one leecher. That is why you do not see any upload and your ratio does not change.

Also once you have gotten into the TB range for you downloads and uploads your ratio will not move as fast. As in your case to get back to a minimum ratio you only need your ratio to move 0.016, however, that translates into 62.06 GB of data.

I believe there are downloaders, but like all things you just can't set your torrents and forget about them. It is something you have to monitor all the time. Delete the ones that are not producing and add ones that will produce for you. Also the best way to gain UL will always be to upload new content, which makes you the only seeder.

That is what I am currently uploading. I have gotten sick of leaving my computer running 24/7 and not sharing to the other sites that I have no issues with. I am not going to dedicate 100% of my sharing to a site that sucks.

This was my fav site b4 but, for months and months I have not had a decent up speed. even when I was sharing 100's of torrents.

goodbye GT. You have went to hell

Only two of the torrents you are seeding have one leecher the rest are ZERO,  That would by why you don't see any upload.

adidasjock, it would be a shame to lose a member who has uploaded as much as you have. But that is part of the problem, sadly, when you need to upload so much to nudge your figures.

And it doesn't matter how many torrents you have open for sharing, if no-one needs what you have to offer, i.e. they have already completed, then your upload will not increase.

I don't understand, if you are not connecting here to seed, how that would affect your seeding to other sites. Unless your torrent client restricts connections, any bandwidth not used here is available for other sites.

You can still download and seed freeleech torrents. I am not one to advocate doing that just for the sake of improving your ratio, but if there is a good freeleech torrent with some downloaders, it's good to grab.

I honestly feel you are getting angry with the wrong thing.

I'm having the same problem as well.  I just joined a few days ago and made the mistake of downloading 2 files that don't have many peers but the thing that I notice keeps happening is that the torrent in my client just vanishes after I restart.  I've never seen that before.  I tried opening it up again but it keeps wanting to download it again.  I am on many torrent sites with ratio requirements and I've never had trouble getting my ratio up fast.  I downloaded 2 files that seemed popular and had lots of peers and few seeds.  Looking at them now my upload rate is still really really bad.  If this was something happening on all sites for me then I would think it's my connection but this is the first time I've seen this.  I have 1 day before my download privileges are disabled.  If these 2 seemingly popular torrents with need for seeding don't help I'm not going to just start donating to get more space.  Especially if lots of other people are having similar issues.  I'm using U-torrent.
