The thing that i hate about uploading is that once you get about 1.0 with the torrent it practically stops seeding since there are so many seeds at that point.

This is not always the case… The GT.ru tracker does not like passive nodes, and places them at the bottom of the priority list, regardless of their upload speed. So... Always be sure that the port that your torrent client uses is forwarded both in TCP and UDP from your router to your computer. This alone will go a long way.

Also, if you have a higher upload speed (say, 75KB/s), you'll get placed higher on the priority list for peers. So... Having a higher upload speed when possible does help in addition to making sure that your network is correctly setup. If using a VPN, it is important to know that you are connected correctly to the VPN and that the VPN has that port forwarded to your computer.

If connecting with an OpenVPN based VPN, you need to be using TAP, rather than TUN, otherwise, ports cannot be opened. Also, you need to make sure that the VPN has that port forwarded. Some VPN's like Private Internet Access will only forward one port that they choose, whereas a VPN like PrivateVPN will forward ALL ports as long as you're using UDP + TAP and are connecting to a port forwarding enabled server.

So, I used the FAQ and researched how to get connectable.  I used the QTM to create a few torrents and uploaded them.  And then downloaded the hell out of brand new torrents in the Browse section to get my ratio to above 1.000.

It didn't take too long and now I have full rights.  Just make sure you are connectable.  All the instructions are available in the FAQ and QTM sections.  And I'm not tech savvy at all…so if I can do it...anyone can!

eastonkellan, you make some very good points, especially the likeness to a kid in a candy shop I'm not sure new members are told properly what will happen if they don't maintain a ratio or informed that, don't worry, the torrent will still be here when you have a decent buffer.

Also people should know that if they do get download rights disabled the staff want you to get them back and will give advice how to. Their pleasure is not banning people…for a few bonus points I will tell you what their real pleasure is  :cheesy2:

I wrote the good admin about this and they gave me good advice and started to upload until I normalized my ratio and now I have more than enough buffer and I download that interest me. I download only files with complete or almost complete description (like resolution, pix and the likes) and as for the seed bonus, I participated in all except for the invite (I have still 4 unused invites but since when it comes to upload, we are all anonymous, I must be careful on whom to invite)

As few people actually say thank you to the seeders who post torrents, I doubt we will get much gratitude for downloading free leech stuff so others can increase their ratio

Members need to understand that it is their downloads which will generate uploads for others and that high ratio is not a purpose on its own. Even assuming the highest minimum ratio requirement of 0.800 it means downloads will generate upload at other members allowing to download 1.25 times of that.

So what we need are members with high share ratio and high absolute values (ratio above lets say 2.000 and upload above 50 GB) are starting actually to download.

It is not helpful to the community to try to have skyscraper high ratio, ratios between 0.8 and 1.25 are much healthier.

In short: We need more downloads!

Alright I am one of those users with a skyscraper high ratio currently at 89.001 but I didn't get it by not downloading. I got it by choosing what to download.
I picked out everything I wanted to download about a year back and downloaded, then after that just to keep my ratio high I downloaded a bunch of Freeleech torrents everyday just to keep my ratio high enough to download more if I wanted. By the time I finally found a few torrents that I wanted to download I found I had enough seed bonus points to Freeleech them for everyone to enjoy. Today alone I downloaded over 30GBs so don't try to blame me for the low ratios of others.

If you want some advice just download all the Freeleech torrents that you think you'll like every day and delete the ones you don't want at the end of the day. Since these almost always have leechers you should quickly see an improvement in your ratio. For you guys out there using Utorrent take a minute and click on the "Options" tab to find the "Setup Guide" and click "run test" (especially if you are seeing your upload speed tap out at around 40kbs). Utorrent has a pretty low preset upload speed so running the test will show the program how fast your internet connection can actually upload.

Lastly if you adopt this practice seed bonus points become very easy to collect (I've got over 10,000 at the moment). Just take some time do category votes on your downloads. The process takes about 5 seconds and gives you 2 seed bonus points per vote. Additionally if you still haven't got enough you could potentially cheat the system a bit while helping others out by freeleeching a few small files from the comics section then downloading them and casting a vote, many of those files will take less than a single seed bonus point to freeleech for a day and you'll still get 2 seed bonus points for voting on them. You can then trade in those SB points for a Ratio boost.

So people please stop complaining there are plenty of ways to get your Ratio up if you look for them. Lastly don't hate the player baby, hate the game.

Hedrus your profile says you have 18 days grace to raise your ratio. I'd suggest you check out the freeleech torrents and see if you can find one with downloaders.

Usually the reason people's upload doesn't increase turns out to be no-one is looking for your torrents

I like that suggestion of: If you have trouble with your ratio, your bonus seedpoints can be increased. And when you are again at a reasonable ratio, you get back to the normal bonus points. This would help everyone.

Why not boosting all constant uploaders?

And it doesn't matter how many torrents you have open for sharing, if no-one needs what you have to offer, i.e. they have already completed, then your upload will not increase.

I don't understand, if you are not connecting here to seed, how that would affect your seeding to other sites. Unless your torrent client restricts connections, any bandwidth not used here is available for other sites.

You can still download and seed freeleech torrents. I am not one to advocate doing that just for the sake of improving your ratio, but if there is a good freeleech torrent with some downloaders, it's good to grab.

That is what I am currently uploading. I have gotten sick of leaving my computer running 24/7 and not sharing to the other sites that I have no issues with. I am not going to dedicate 100% of my sharing to a site that sucks.

This was my fav site b4 but, for months and months I have not had a decent up speed. even when I was sharing 100's of torrents.
