When I was 6 or 7… First grade. I was finally meeting kids outside of my family. I really liked this boy or that boy. By 10 or so, Fourth grade, my parents told me that I just liked hanging out with guys, and surely there were girls that I wished I could be around (suggesting maybe misinterpreted feelings of like). I tried to find girls attractive and tried to find a crush on a girl until 12. In Sixth grade, a classmate in PE said they were going to do physicals or something and determine how we were developing. I went home and researched growth, development, and puberty. Found a lot of dick pics, some to my liking. Relatives discovered me on the computer and the next thing I remember is being stuck in the living room with nearly everyone in my family telling me I was unnatural, a faggot, an abomination... They quoted the Bible and suggested my parents and I needed to go to church more and bring god into the home. We went to church more and they tried to keep me from the computer. Later that year, I learned that there was actually a name for that, so it couldn't be too unnatural. I played an asexual front, but when I was alone I was sooooo gay and accepted myself for it. I didn't act on it until 17 when there was this boy in a younger grade that was so cute! He set off my gaydar so I threw out the possibility of liking him and he eventually came around and we hung out and flirted but I wanted a relationship and he wanted sex so I didn't act on it again until I turned 20 and found my partner and he taught me to be more open and accepting about it.

I think I have always known. I am not sure when I attached the word gay to myself but I can remember sexually liking a boy in my class when I was 9 (in the very limited way a 9 year old has an awareness of sex).
