The medication is really good, the medicine has come far . So even if you get tested + you still have a good and yes normal life. I understand the fear , but like most of the time fear is a bad advice giver . And its better to be tested and be + and know , ( so u can start meds properly and be undetecable ) than being + and fearing the result and not being able to take steps for meds. And for the best result…... you might also just be negative and drove yourself crazy over the fear. Once again, i understand but fear is a most of the time a bad advice giver.

@nickys1177: how come the governments are busy sowing conflict among its people rather than managing the aids problem Well… Simply put, political decisions are never about what is best for the people anymore. Instead, every political decision that is made these days is all about someone making money off of it. The medications that keep me alive run anywhere from $1200 - $3000 for a 30-day supply, depending on what pharmacy that you go to. When you consider how many thousands of people who are HIV+ and on medications, each one of which will be paying at LEAST $1000 every 30 days in some way, you start talking big-time money to be made. If they were to release a cure for HIV, they would not be able to keep milking this cash cow for all they can, in order to side-line their own pockets.

There is some speculation that there may be a cure in the works, but I've heard about things like this before, and although they looked promising, they fell a little flat. Also, sadly, there are some people who are known commonly as "denialists", who do not help in any way with the advancement of research, as they deny that HIV even exists in the first place. I have questioned many of them in my experiences in dealing with them, and none of them seem to like questions that I raise. Their first problem is they refer to information that was released in the mid 1990's, and as we all know, there is a LOT that has become known since that time, which raises a number of control based questions about their study results. So… Only time will tell where things go from here. The funny thing is that they claim that the basic principle that we understand HIV is simply a "theory"... None of them like when I ask them if they believe in gravity, and when the answer yes, point out that even gravity by scientific definition is "just a theory". So I'll as them how they can be so willing to believe in "just a theory" when it comes to gravity, but when it comes to something else, it's "just a theory" and it "hasn't been proven"... Technically NEITHER HAS GRAVITY!! Not in an exact quantification that can be scientifically validated with hard evidence anyway... But yet, here we are with the belief that what goes up, must come down. When I ask how the "theory of gravity" is any different than the "theory of HIV" as they so delicately put it, not one of them could ever tender up an answer for me.

The CDC does not recommend requiring consent before testing: https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/policies/law/states/testing.html but each state has its own rules. Since HIV is now very treatable, and that heterosexuals are vulnerable, as well as less of a stigma associated the being gay, may doctors do order it as a part of a general physical.  In any event, it would be ethically and legally wrong to divulge the result to a third party without the patient's consent. Federal privacy laws (HIPPA) protects that. Mandatory testing should only be required of those whose jobs would put the public at risk (those are few and far between.  Many support mandatory testing before marriage, as syphilis testing is in many states.

@MrMazda: If by changed you mean my government funding for my meds, no… The bill is still hefty, but it gets billed straight to the government, so I never actually see the bill. As for my progress with HIV, I'm down to one horse pill once a day with pretty well no side effects. This is awesome news - glad to hear it

It's important to discuss safer sex with anyone you're having sex with. When you do that and make sure you trust the othet's answer, I would say it would be safe..
