@Frederick: In fact, they cheapest health care plans (which still cost a fortune) cover virtually nothing but the most basic things that don't cost a lot anyway. Actually it's just the opposite.  Hospitals are doing much better and becoming profitable again because of the ACA.  They no longer have to provide as much uncompensated care because people have insurance and those insurers are picking up the tab. http://www.fiercehealthcare.com/finance/hospitals-see-boosted-revenue-under-aca-but-cut-spending-charity-care-report

The US has a similar problem that the UK has. Welfare has created a culture of entitlement. We have Lithuanians picking our fruit and countless other jobs because Brits won't. Jaywick is supposed to be the most deprived area of the UK with 85+% unemployment.  A sandwich factory moved there specifically to help the area out.  Needless to say, only a few Brits wanted the jobs and they had to import workers from eastern Europe.

@Frederick: The change of course is suspicious if that cargo ship made a course change 10 minutes before impact and hit the destroyer. I think this course change actually turned out to be a U-turn which the cargo ship made 30 minutes after the collision. The initial reports got the time of impact wrong. @Frederick: Could it be that the cargo ship intentionally made a course change to ram the destroyer? From the position of the people on the bridge of the cargo ship, as long as the destroyer was appearing to them to be left of their centerline, they were legally obligated to [desc=If the other crossing vessel is in your port sector, then you are the Stand On vessel, and you ought not slow down or change course.]stand on[/desc] without changing course or speed. This would only change if the destroyer suddenly appeared to the right of their centerline, in which case evasive action would be required to avoid a collision. Evasive is a misnomer because it takes >10 minutes to make a meaningful course correction in cargo ships of that size. If I'm the ship in the diagram below then I should expect every ship I pass to stay to my left. As long as they stay there, I can continue full speed ahead. If their plan is to cross in front of me, this changes only their obligations in the passing—not mine. I would remain, from their point of view, to the right of their centerline, where they are obliged to [desc=If the other crossing vessel is in your starboard sector, then you are the Give Way vessel, and you must stop or slow down.]give way[/desc]. Those ships would be seeing my red light, which is a stop sign for them. I would be seeing their green light telling me I am free to 'Go'. Since we know the destroyer was hit on its starboard side, this green light was what they were displaying to the cargo ship — all while dashing in front of them. [image: NavExplanation0024798685xx.png] Interestingly enough this is the same location where the Andrea Doria was hit—on its starboard side. If you have a ship passing you on the starboard side and you don't give way then you are inviting the collision—because your green light is telling the other ship to "Keep on Movin Dont Stop." @amicusets: @royalcrown89: @pppucci: Unless he actually does go out on 5th avenue and shoot someone, he won't be impeached by this Congress. If the Democrats win back the House in 2018, that is a different story.  Even under those circumstances, he would never be convicted in the Senate.67 Senators would have to vote to convict, a very high bar indeed. I believe the Republicans will abandon him if his unpopularity brings them down far enough. There will come a point where they no longer defend him out of fear that they will lose everything. He is more popular and has better approval ratings than the GOP in the House or Senate. What I predict is that we will see a lot of new faces elected in 2018, they just will be fresh Republican faces to unseat the old ones. That's not saying much, they're in the 18-22% approval range and he's in the 32-36% approval range. Also, you're leaving out the millions of people who did not vote but DO NOT want him as their president. People who sat it out because they thought Hillary would win, they will turnout to make sure he's stopped next year if he's not removed by then. Republicans are doomed and they know it, which is why they're throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks. Either way, I still believe he'll be removed from office just as Allan Lichtman, who is never wrong, predicted. He predicted the win and he's has also predicted the impeachment and removal. There's no way the Republicans will sink with this president. They'll throw him under the bus to save themselves the moment collusion is proven or Mueller finds something incriminating enough. It still won't help them. The president ran and won as a Republican and he's unpopular with the MAJORITY of Americans just like the Republican party is, which means once he is impeached he will not have the support of the people to help him; only the flimsy number of people (~77,000) that helped him win the electoral college.

@Frederick: @aadam101: Exactly. We need all three. We do need single payer. I'm glad we agree on something. I hope you realize that a significant number of people will oppose any changes - even if they benefit them - just out of fear.  That Obamacare is a failure.  I'm afraid that it must be either repealed before it collapses completely, or - as it looks like what will actually happen - is that it will collapse completely.  In cold political terms.. I think the number of people who would be thrilled to not be required to purchase health care plans that they don't want  outnumber the people who would be pissed off about it. One more thing to consider.. the VA system of healthcare is a disaster.   That being the case, why should we expect that the federal government can manage healthcare for the entire population?  The federal government.. and really all levels of government.. are terrible at managing anything.  This country was built upon the premise of free-markets and competition.   When you impose subsidies, grants, insurance, etc.   The whole system fails. Are you implying no funding for Veterans? Wow you ultra conservatives really want to save every penny.

There will be no women nominated to the Supreme Court as long as Trump is in charge…..well not unless her family runs Amway or something.

@aadam101: Just as I suspected. Nobody here is pro Trump. They are anti-liberal. That might be ok if they elected an actual Republican. Instead they chose an incompetent fool. I've been saying it for a while, they just refuse to defend their arguments and the reason why they believe what they believe. It's really sad.

@Frederick: @aadam101: @Frederick: Once again, Facebook has permanently DISABLED the account I was using.  \ So you have multiple Facebook accounts?  Interesting….... I have to bozo… when they disable one, I have to create another.  Sometimes I have been able to get facebook accounts back, but not lately.  Some accounts are those of other people, who are admins of my secret group. By the way.. you were supposed to be BOYCOTTING my posts.  Why don't you do what you said you were going to do? You don't expect Trump to do what he was he is going to do. Why do you expect me to?

It's always someone else's fault. That strategy only lasts for so long. We are at the six month mark. Time is running thin. His low IQ supporters are going to figure out they are being scammed evebtually. Trump is sort of like one of those As Seen on TV products. It never works the way it claims to work but you buy it anyway. Then you buy another one and maybe even another but eventually you figure out that none of these products are ever as advertised and stop you buying it.

The polls are very accurate when tracking his support because notice how many protests against him pop up after he makes one statement either on camera or on Twitter. The right try to claim these protests are paid and made up, but I've been to a handful and they really are grassroots movements. He is the most unpopular president this early on in a presidency that we've had for a while. It's only going to go downhill from here unless something happens to show off his leadership skills. Presidents with sinking numbers need a rallying effect or their presidency will crumble. His win wasn't really as historic as he claims. 77,000 people spread across three states is not a historic or overwhelming win. It means the country is so divided and so many people tuned out and didn't vote so 77,000 people in three separate states determined the results and that there are many, many other people who DID NOT vote who DO NOT want him as president. That's a huge problem and the poll numbers reflect just how true it is. The worse he gets, the more he will motivate people to turn out to vote against him and his agenda. If you do research on what happened in 2006, you'll see a lot of similar instances comparable to what's happening right now.

Funny I've often seen a call for the eradication of religions on different forums without any squeals from the PC brigade. Oh but that's the eradication of all religions. The bloodshed that would involve would be incalculable.

@Frederick: My my my.. you got some sand in your vagina today, aadam!  Of course everything you said is a blatant lie. Allow me to correct your bullshit.  Melania got her green card in 2001 She married Trump in January 2005 Their son Barron was born in March 2006. As for being trash and a hooker.  She was never trash, and never a hooker, unless you are one of those people who consider all models to be hookers.    Even if we assume she is a hooker… a hooker is a lot better than that monster Hillary Clinton! But she does live in public housing and lives with a guy with kids by three different women…...

@aadam101: Everybody knows that Donald J Trump LOVES his safe spaces but this is a bit much….. He is refusing to visit the UK until the media starts telling lies about him. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/donald-trump-us-president-state-visit-uk-theresa-may-prime-minister-fixes-warm-welcome-a7843391.html I think Madam101 must be drunk today.  That is not at all what Trump said.  He said he won't go until he is welcomed there.  If he were to go now, there would be riots and people killed as a result.  The reason?  The mayor of London is a muslim disciple of Obama who thinks HE is the Prime Minister instead of just a mayor. In the eyes of Moonbats, no matter what Trump does.. he is wrong.  If he goes to London, that is bad.. if he doesn't go to London, that is bad. Go plant your turnip in a mine field.

@aadam101: Finally Trump is doing something I support!  This week I'm going to go and buy every Trump product that is made in America!!  So much winning!!!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/07/16/white-house-unveils-made-in-america-week-though-many-trump-products-are-made-overseas/?utm_term=.9072a46fdd6d So much winning, indeed!  But if anyone is considering a Trump product with a big "Made in the U.S.A." tag, just make sure that it isn't stitched over a smaller one saying "Hecho in Mexico," or similarly, Made in Indonesia, China or Bangladesh, for that matter.   :afr: As the article quoted the White House's Director of Media Affairs, Helen Ferre: "Asked at Sunday's briefing whether Made in America week would include a commitment from the Trump Organization or Ivanka Trump's company to make more of their products in the United States, Ferre told reporters, 'We'll get back to you on that.'”
