@beep: but they (vets) tend to know how to handle animals The same goes for groomers, used to all kinds of behavior. The only one who might need the tranquilizer then is Detroiticus — but that can be done with some Glenfiddich afterwards.

@archangelslc: @hhsq: Is a tortoise exotic? Exotic simply suggests being unusual or interesting because it's from another country, but if your tortoise is interesting enough for you, then I'd say yes. I had a couple scorpions and a tarantula when I was younger. I wish I knew more on how to take care of them that time. I want to get another tarantula, but my bf is being a typical Caucasian arachnophobe. :cheesy2: "Right in the feels!"

That must be an awful position for you. I have never had to make such a decision. But my instinct is that you mustn't be selfish, what is best for your dear dog. And I'm not sure there is a 'wrong thing'. Whatever happens will be sad for you. But remember the good times I'm sure you have had.

yes sadly we had to put down a pup who had hip problems when he was only about 8 months old. very sad. they are breeds that are prone to hip or shoulder displasia (dunno if i spelled that correctly) so it is always a risk unless they have documentation from a good line. very loyal and wonderful family pets!

Pour some distilled vinegar in your dog's ears after his/her bath.  It helps clean them, but also helps prevent water based ear infections.

@YORCH32: There's a pair of cats near my house that scream and growl at 4 am and eat the neighborgs birds and do many other things. the lady next door wants to poison them, is there a way to repel them so they dont get harmed? (dont say splash em with water o throw a shoe!) Give me a call, show me that bitch and let me and my spare anema to take over the rest.

Ceasar Millan is a bit too aggresive in my eyes, but the basics of his interaction with animals really helpfull. I have great bounds with dogs, cats and horses before I've ever heard from him. They always like to be near me (just like most people because of my calm energy) and respect me like I'm one of them. The only dogs that are aggresive towards me are spoiled ones. They don't know how to react on "strange" things and are just like raphjd said either afraid or overly pampered. Ceasar only opened my eyes of how your emotions and attitude affect others (animals and people). In this way I've already helped 4 dogs overcome their issues in just using my voice, attitude and a few times a small push/"bite" to snap them out of their obsession. Most people find the last not right and find it animal cruelty. I know my own strength because of practicing martial arts and if you hurt an animal they will react on it. (I know because I've stepped on a dogs foot once while walking backwards. He bit me lightly as a warning so no blood or anything else happened and he was just fine.)

If you live in a council house or flat, then YES, they have to approve ANY pet you may wish to have. However, if you live in Scotland and live in your own private house, flat or whatever, you do not need council permission to own/keep a "pet".  Prior to 2002, every property deed in Scotland was very strict and heavily controlled by the local council and local land laird {"lord" in the rest of the UK}.  In 2000, the Scottish Parliament passed a law that abandoned most of the Nazi'ish deed restrictions placed by the local councils on private property. If you live in a private flat, you will probably have deed restrictions placed there by the home owner association or the building management/owners.
