      Our way around the "no pets allowed" clause in our lease – with our landlord's permission.

        aaaww cute we have a similar clause saying that all pets have to be approved by the council but fuck em they have approved dangerous noisy dogs im sure they will have no problem with a kitten

          If you live in a council house or flat, then YES, they have to approve ANY pet you may wish to have.

          However, if you live in Scotland and live in your own private house, flat or whatever, you do not need council permission to own/keep a "pet".  Prior to 2002, every property deed in Scotland was very strict and heavily controlled by the local council and local land laird {"lord" in the rest of the UK}.  In 2000, the Scottish Parliament passed a law that abandoned most of the Nazi'ish deed restrictions placed by the local councils on private property.

          If you live in a private flat, you will probably have deed restrictions placed there by the home owner association or the building management/owners.
