Dog cleaning

my bf has 2 dogs but he doesnt clean them or bathe them, they are outside in the backyard.
how can convince him in a nice way to take care of them?

in a nice way? he needs to be slapped non stop til common sense makes its way back to his brain. just kidding (not)
just tell him he must take care of his pets in a proper way, or find them a new home with someone who is qualified to do it. -
instead of slaping can i fuck him til his common sense is back?

Bathing a dog is important as it lets you find lumps and bumps that shouldn't be there and keeps their coats and skin in good condition, as well as a bonding experience. If he truly cared for his dogs, he'd bathe them just for the reasons I mentioned.
I hate the idea of backyard dogs. Dogs are family, not lawn ornaments.

They are part of the family but are still dogs. Dogs who are treated as a human being will obtain strange behavior just like little children who are spoiled too much. Know how your dog thinks and works "in the wild" and interact how they react among each other. This way dogs (also works with cats and horses) respect you even more.
Some dogs are better of outside than in a house. But if you decide that they live outside you have to take care for them as they would live inside. This means shelter with heating during cold periods, fresh water, enough exercise, etc.

I'm not saying that you need to be Paris Hilton and spoil the hell out of your dogs or treat them as little humans.
I tend to side with Victoria Stilwell rather than Caesar Milan, when it comes to dealing with dogs.

there's nothing wrong with being a Paris Hilton, if you can/want, why not? for most of us, dogs (or pets in general) are our only chance to spoil, pamper someone.

Most dogs like that have behaviour problems. This is especially true with small/toy breeds.
Watch any dog behaviour show (Victoria Stilwell, Caesar Milan, Brad Patterson, etc) and you'll see that most aggressive dogs are either afraid or overly pampered.
I've never been bitten, except accidentally during play, by a big dog. I have, however, been bitten by spoiled toy breeds.

Ceasar Millan is a bit too aggresive in my eyes, but the basics of his interaction with animals really helpfull. I have great bounds with dogs, cats and horses before I've ever heard from him. They always like to be near me (just like most people because of my calm energy) and respect me like I'm one of them. The only dogs that are aggresive towards me are spoiled ones. They don't know how to react on "strange" things and are just like raphjd said either afraid or overly pampered. Ceasar only opened my eyes of how your emotions and attitude affect others (animals and people). In this way I've already helped 4 dogs overcome their issues in just using my voice, attitude and a few times a small push/"bite" to snap them out of their obsession.
Most people find the last not right and find it animal cruelty. I know my own strength because of practicing martial arts and if you hurt an animal they will react on it. (I know because I've stepped on a dogs foot once while walking backwards. He bit me lightly as a warning so no blood or anything else happened and he was just fine.)
