@weirdthall Just let me know, and I'll do the upgrade... I haven't been doing them lately because I'm not sure if people are still interested. But if you can tell me which ones you want, I'd be happy to do it.

You can read more about Rationator by clicking on "Ratio: …" below the blue menu band in the upper part of our pages. –------ UPDATE: Rationator 3.0 is introduced since 2013-08-01. It adds a component of daily .torrent file download permissions depending on minimum share ratio, personal ratio and uploaded own torrents. @underlvr: After I seeded the new one, I then restarted all of my old torrents to keep them active.  This specific torrent had at least one other seeder at that time, so I stopped my seed, so that the other seeder(s) would receive the upload credit if anyone wanted the torrent. It appears that this is exactly what later occurred ― namely that another user, perhaps even that last lone seeder you mentioned leaving when you stopped your seed, continued to "share" that very same file, albeit in "promoted" form. Owing to a haphazard handling of the file's death and eventual resurrection―coupled with the growing sense of detachment you experienced as your file continued to "live-on" without you―it was at this point that your altruism turned to indignation. The zero-sum game of file sharing can create feelings of personal betrayal. But what you intended at first (for another to benefit) and what then later occured (others did benefit) are differences of circumstance, not substance. Sensing and accepting the idea of fairplay inherent in all file-sharing communities is essential for maintaining the more positive feelings of altruism that you already show in abundance.

Not all members got software to covert to all formats, but to some or don't know how to use them Not all formats are played by all players, software and hardware, computer or consumer electronics devices Restricting to only one format will reduce the choice Best in quality is always the original release format untouched, what ever it is WMV, MP4, MOV, DVD Video, Blu-ray Disk There is always a trade off between quality and size, there are different opinions what is small size and good quality and what is the right balance If we would have to ban a format, I am quite sure the first would be rm and rmvb, small files but lousy quality. My personal next would be flv, but it may contain MPEG-4 AVC like the MP4 you seems to prefer and therefore can be good quality (but most I watched are lousy, certainly because converted too many times, see above remark about the original release format) For share ratio, it does not mater if a file is big or small, what matters is the moment when you enter a swarm, the connectivity of your torrent client programme, the upload rate, the queue settings etc… I'll always prefer the original DVD at 8 GB versus a 700 MB MP4 of a video for home use.

I took a quick look at that website before posting :), and it's definitely not a site rip. There are threads in the Staff section about links to other file sharing sites. Unless something has changed, the Admins normally aren't too thrilled about such links.

@PainPervert: However I can 't find the integrated upload speed test you mentioned; perhaps it's only available on the Windows client? PP, On the Windows version, I found it under Options, then Setup Guide.  Once that box opens, there's a button at the bottom that says "Run Tests".  Hope that helps.

There are different topics about "Twinks" vs "Youngbloods" … some say "Twinks" may be older than "Youngbloods" other that "Youngbloods" are more muscular less boyish. None goes in the direction to fill the 25+ gap

That's good to know. That's a technology item that would be worth doing some more research on to see if it's possible to throw off such places by modifying or removing it.

http://tracker.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=128909 The easiest to find one of your own torrents is to go to your Profile http://tracker.gaytor.rent/userdetails.php? and look to the torrent list.

Another rule that needs to be enforced, is the naming one. Too many people are just uploading VIDEO_TS folders and it causes problems when you try to download a couple of DVD-Rs like this.  This needs to be put in a 2nd folder with the video's proper name.

Perfect. That's what I thought, but I wanted to double check first as to avoid potential trouble with the site at a later point in time.

It would be helpful to know the particulars of the problem that you are experiencing. Such details include: The stage in the upload that you are (e.g. have uploaded, but are now having trouble seeding) The torrent client that you are using (e.g. uTorrent) The operating system you are using on the computer that you are trying to seed with The particular error message you are receiving (if any) More detailed information on the problem or symptoms that you are experiencing (e.g. uTorrent says seeding, but the tracker doesn't) Whether you are using QTM (Quick Torrent Maker) or your torrent client to upload the new torrent With this information, it would be a lot easier to provide you with a more definitive and detailed solution to fix the problem that you are having and get you on your way to a successful upload.

@Uwe: @andy32: …  All the more annoying when someone adds additional pictures and ruins the layout. ... If you see that, the Staff will be happy to delete the pictures not relevant for the torrent. Indicate which, numbering from the last (indicate you count that way). Actually, I don't think it's so much that the pictures aren't relevant.  It's just that they totally change the original presentation of the pictures.  They way they stack now, the last ones added appear first, and the first show last.  So, depending on how many pics are added, the original upload pics will end up at the end, with new pics in the top left order. I can understand andy32's point.  When I upload a torrent, I load the pics so that the first they see, from left to right, is the box cover, followed by scene grabs from tlavideo and aebn.net. I know geographer said it's on the "to do" list.  And in reality, I can see where the site owner might not consider it as important as say, if pics weren't appearing at all, which I'm sure would be a priority. I think two things need to be remembered here.  First and foremost, we're talking about a free site here.  While it's great that uploaders put thought and effort into the presentation to their torrent uploads, pics, descriptions, tags, etc, (as I do), I doubt it changes anyone's mind as to whether they'll download a particular file because of the arrangement of the preview pics. And secondly, if other users are adding pics, those MAY cause someone to download a torrent that they might not have, especially if they see something in one of those pics that is particularly appealing. For me, I'm sticking with the "Free is good" motto, and I can live with the fact that my upload may not be the same after I present it. That's my ten cents My two cents is free A nuisance.  Who sent? You sent for me? I really do wonder if Eminem's would melt in my mouth.  (For those of you old enough to remember the commercial.)  :cheesy2:

I would go further with this idea and suggest users who are willing to share such information about their downloaded torrent to send it to moderators, so we can insert it in the description. Though I really doubt the majority of users pay any attention to what is written in the description. Moreover they will pay any attention to the tech details, since most of them have no idea about bitrate, codecs, containers and so on…

@cumeaternc: @thangcuoi: …I really think it should be included in the Rules section... Adding "jump on seeding" as a rule is really a tough situation.  Why you ask? Scenario 1: What if an uploader is just sharing something I uploaded to another torrent tracker and I happen to come across it here on GTRU.  I did all the hard work of creating the torrent so why should he/she get all the seeding credit here? I guess that scenario brings up an equally important question in reverse.  Have you ever downloaded anything from another tracker here and shared it elsewhere or, downloaded from another tracker and shared it here? I will readily admit I'm guilty of both.  And I've a good feeling, that isn't such a small club.  What I do now is, I'll create two torrents, one for here and one for the other tracker.  I launch one on either tracker and, as soon as I have leeches, I launch the second on the other tracker and seed both using the same file.  (For the record, I use a seedbox, so speed and output don't pose problems seeding the same file on two torrents.) Lastly, I said this in another thread.  In all honesty, before I even used a seedbox, I used to welcome jump on seeding (for torrents that I launched) as it meant more people got the videos quicker.  But that's just my personal opinion.
