      Hey guys!

      I have been using this website for ages, and today I just found out that there is a new rule. I usually download torrents containing a group of images and videos. However, today I downloaded just one torrent that had hundreds of images. Then I was blocked from downloading anything else because it said that I had exceeded the download limit.

      Are you kidding me? You count the individual files we download instead of the number of torrents we download? Most of the torrent here include like image files and random dvd code. You actually count them instead of number of torrents.

      ****"gaytor.rent has a daily download limit, which is bound to your share ratio and amount of uploaded own torrents:

      You downloaded 116 torrent(s) in the past 24 hours
      You are allowed to download 115 torrent file(s) per day. This is based on your share ratio of 0.876 and 7 uploaded own torrent(s).
      Add up to 50 extra parallel downloads per day with a DonationIndicates user has donated to the Site"****

          @studcupid its a rolling previous 24h period

          If you click the up down arrows at the top it will show you how many you have downloaded in the last 24h etc

                @pandammonia what I have found too, but if you download the .torrent file in browser it counts, you don't have to start it

                  It limits how many torrent files a user can grab from the site, to avoid scraping. Each download count expires after 24 hours. The limit is applied to torrent files you download, be it manually via RSS, or using plugins like prowllar. It affects your ability to download torrent files, and has nothing to do with your ability to add torrents to your client, and has nothing to do with the torrent contents like number of files or size. Your can increase it up to 150 torrents per day by increasing your ratio or uploading new torrents.

                  Once again I'd like to remind everyone that it's not mandatory that you speak.

                    It's not new in any way, shape or form. It's been like this for years, and in addition to everything @ianfontinell said it encourages you to maintain a good ratio.

                      Wow. I can't even imagine downloading (pressing the download button) 115 torrents a day, let alone being allowed to for less than a ratio of 1.0. Seems very generous, to me!

                        @Hier0nymous It's quite easy to download that much in a day, for example if you're using a seedbox. I did it when my ratio was low, and used RSS to automatically grab stuff from certain categories that tended to have high numbers of leechers. The seedbox would download them super fast and then seed them back, gaining ratio as it went. When it hit the daily download limit it just had to wait for it to reset and then it would start grabbing them again.

                          Hence why it says "You are allowed to download..." rather than "You are allowed to start 'X' new torrents...."

                          Other opinions are also available. They're not right, obviously, but they are available.

                            trueform It is impossible for someone to download 166 torrents in a single day. I downloaded one torrent containing a collection of images, along with four other video torrents.

                            Yes, I was blocked for 24 hours again because the system appears to count the number of individual files downloaded, rather than the number of torrents downloaded.

                            I also checked my download history for the past 24 hours, and I downloaded only 5 torrents in total.

                              @studcupid "Impossible", you say?

                              7a40ccf2-59f2-42c0-8bca-46d4d730b1c7-image.jpeg

                              d4f2b4a6-b57a-48b9-897c-f8f7e4c146a6-image.jpeg

                              It took about three minutes. If you meant downloading the contents of each file rather than the torrents themselves, 166 torrents at 7MiB/s is ~620GB, so if the average torrent file is around 3GB, that's easily doable.

                              It's far more likely that any restriction you face is to do with your ratio, not how many torrents you can download.

                              Other opinions are also available. They're not right, obviously, but they are available.

                                  Can't wait til a MOD comes in and shows a screencap of your downloads over that 24 hr period.

                                        I'm pretty sure this is in fact not what he meant... Just further proving his point that you are very fucking confused. It's very easy to make a post complaining about something wrong but it usually requires you to investigate beforehand to confirm if what you are saying is true or if you're jumping to conclusions. And when there's a bunch of messages from other people trying to explain that you are wrong and just keep doubling down, that is also a very good sign that you have no idea of what's really happening and no apparent intention to learn.

                                        Once again I'd like to remind everyone that it's not mandatory that you speak.

                                          @ianfontinell If asking a straightforward question is now considered “complaining,” then you clearly missed the memo on forum's role. I was trying to understand what happened and how to resolve it. I certainly didn’t expect that asking for clarification would be met with the f*** word.

                                          If your response to someone raising a question is to swear at them, then perhaps you missed a basic lesson in manners somewhere along the way in your elementary school. That was unnecessarily rude, and yes, it was hurtful.

                                          Last time I check, I formed this forum with questions and address what happened. Then I asked how to check or what to do next. So it is a little ironic to be accused of being disrespectful when you and @pandammonia were the ones using abusive language. I asked a question. You chose to respond with insults. There is a difference.

                                            @studcupid I apologize for the f word, I do use it hyperbolically, but I must admit that even without it, it was still rude and over the top, for which I am sorry... I'll just say that so far everyone in this thread have reinforced that the individual files inside each torrent don't count towards that limit, only each torrent file itself. Also, not a single mod has showed up so far, everyone here are just regular members, no one who said anything here has access to your download history to know when you downloaded what. Also, there isn't a feature to see which torrent files you have grabbed, the site only shows torrents after you finish downloading them, which is not necessarily helpful in your case. The "completed torrents" in this page sorts them by completion date by default, you can use it to make sure you recognize everything that appears there, and if you see torrents there that you didn't download you will need to reset your password and your passkey.

                                            Once again I'd like to remind everyone that it's not mandatory that you speak.
