@jokuihmemies yeah you should check one media management software out if you have a lot of files within those directories - the way of sorting that way is 'hunt and peck' kinda approach.. with the free software media managers mentioned above you can tag by categories, actors, studios, resolution, etc., etc.. then you can do things like easily find media with multiple criteria -- like a film that's 4K staring actors x, y and/or z, in a bareback gangbang (or whatever).. many of them can import already existing metadata tags that exist in video files (or match it with online databses) so you don't have to start entering data from scratch.

I have over 3,700 full films/DVDs in my Plex adult film library so sorting it without a media management software would be a no-go lol

@jokuihmemies Google will be your friend here -- or use some of the links already provided in the thread -- if one of the apps sounds of interest just search the name plus 'download' in Google and you should find the site to get it .. Plex's is https://www.plex.tv/ but that might be over kill if you're not looking to stream out your stuff to friends and just want to sort/manage your stuff easier then one of the other apps mentioned above should work well.

@IncubusAZ Have you clicked on the bell icon to the left of the REPLY button and selected "Watching"? That'll give you a notification if anyone posts to the thread.

(You've probably already done this, but I only mention it in case you hadn't seen it.)

I wish we had a bell icon for torrents we've commented on. Many of my friendly comments are coming back to haunt me with endless comment notifications. 😛

I use PLEX, and inside Plex, I have everything in folders.

All of my porn is inside folders to match the studio name.

For vintage stuff (pre-2000 and studios no longer in existence) I have the outer Vintage folder and inside I have them in their studio folders.

Animation porn has its own folder.

For my non-porn, I have everything in folders; ie Movies - Gay, Movies - Comedy, Documentaries, Stand-up, Concerts, etc.

@raphjd I don't use PLEX, but the rules by which I categorize and organize porn and non-porn folders are virtually identical to your method.

                              Great minds and all that.

i organize all my porn manually by category using folders and in-name tags, and manage it using Everything to index properties such as length, resolution, bitrate, etc. Amazing for finding even the most random of videos and to spot duplicates:

For images and short videos: XnViewMP is free & great files sorter & tagger & more. You can use XnViewMP for organizing long videos too.

For something like Plex - porn gallery - showroom - entertainment center - streaming I would use Stash app.

For most people I reckon File Explorer / XnViewMP is adequate.

Stash can be be overwhelming at first but soon it's a great buddy. It now has AI features too so it can organize, name & tag content automatically to some extent.

XnViewMP doesn't have auto-tag feature at least not yet but FOSS app digiKam has - and the default function can be changed to NSFW keywords.

                                    https://www.xnview.com/en/xnview-mp/

                                    https://stashapp.cc
                                    https://github.com/stashapp/stash
                                    https://docs.stashapp.cc/installation/windows/

Stash needs Python path set in WIndows Environment Variables (user variables (not system). Write "path" to Windows search and open "edit variables". Under user variables there is Path, open it and select new and add Python install location to path (such as C:\apps\python). Restart CMD/terminal.

I don't rely on metadata to tag my files because I want my tags to be compatible with any software I might migrate to, so I tag everything directly into the filenames and folders.

Using Everything I'm able to filter anything based on categories such as anal, bj, solo, cruising etc, and tags such as hairy, uncut, big dick, etc. This is basically my media management, how I make sure that everything I have is easily findable and not duplicated.

My media management is sort of a mess by comparison to a lot of you. I just have dump folders on hard drives in one of a few computer towers on my network. I have started separating things in terms of different drives for different things, but on the most part, it's just a dump folder (or even the root directory of a drive itself) that is shared over Windows File Sharing so that it can be mapped as a network drive on computers other than the one that the drive is physically inside of.

For perspective, there's now over 30 TB worth between all the drives involved in the setup.

                                          Slacker 🤣 🤣 🤣

I have well over 300 TB between my NAS (204 TB) and external HDDs.

I'd have more, but prices are out of control thanks to everything going AI. I'm seeing 250% price increase or more.
