      Hi

Am I right in assuming that PMs automatically get deleted after so long? For about a week or so I've noticed that the number of messages in my inbox keeps going down, usually by one at a time.

Is there a setting to stop this from happening and what is the upper limit on inbox/mailbox size?

      Thank you gtru gurus!

Ouch - 3 more messages were just deleted today. Anyone care to offer some help or explain?

(by the way it's PMs on the main site I'm enquiring about not PMs via the forums)

All I can tell you is to click on your user name at the top of the page. This will take you to your Profile Page. Then click on "Profile Setting's". Look for ~ Save PMs (Default value for "Save PM to Sentbox") ~ and make sure that box is checked.

Can you tell me some details about your inbox:

            a) how many messages
            b) which size
c date and time of the oldest message

I've never encountered such an issue with my inbox, but on the other hand, it's a moderator account which might have higher limits.

This may be something only an administrator can  answer ….

There is also the "Delete PM" option with "(Default value for "Delete PM on reply)".
Blue Menu bar -> Profile -> 2nd option at the top -> uncheck that box.

Well - all those settings have nothing to do with pruning the inbox or the sentbox. There is also no setting which can influence that boxes (nor inbox neither sent box - although it looks like a good idea to have such a setting in your profile 🙂 ). Your inbox is regularly cleared  - deleting messages older than 30 days[nb]I just have the dates in my memory and that are roundabout figures because I saw no reason to remember the exact values :)[/nb] Uwe is right too - for moderators the PMs are not pruned because it happens regularly that request-answering takes more than a month and it is necessary to re-read what answers were given (or detailed questions ere asked) longerthan a month ago. Be glad that your PMs are pruned though, my inbox has currently 530 PMs and my sentbox has 4732 PMs - the complete size is 8.20 MB 😞
