      @andergarcia

      Porn is entertainment
      Sex is entertainment

      Porn is FANTASY
      Sex is real-life

People who cannot tell the difference are a danger to themselves and others...

I met a guy online. When I told him that I love to watch bareback porn, he was really surprised and said that because it's not safe and you can contract STDs, he doesn't watch unsafe sex.

He also asked me if I practice safe sex, to which I replied yes. I then told him that watching bareback sex has nothing to do with practicing safe sex. (although it might influence)

From the tone of the conversation it appeared to me that he was very reluctant to continue the conversation with me, as if anyone who watches bareback porn must also practice unsafe sex, and therefore should be wary of

He doesn't sound very smart. Also he's missing out on the hottest porn. Condom porn is so boring to me. The sex looks so boring. Barebackers fuck like they REALLY mean it.

I guess there are three separate questions here:

                  (a) Is it dangerous to watch bareback porn?

Answer: No! At least no more dangerous than the dangers of porn consumption in general.

                  (b) Is a sexual partner who watches bareback porn likely to be more risky in their real-life behaviour than one who only watches condom porn, other things being equal?

Answer: I would have to say possibly yes. People who are fastidious about only watching condom porn are probably going to be more fastidious in their sex lives, other things being equal. I say this as someone who overwhelmingly prefers bareback porn and (when on prep and with chosen partners) likes bareback in real life. The problem with judging sex partners by their porn preferences, just from a practical perspective, is that it might not be a big enough factor in a person's real life behaviour to be worth worrying about compared to other things.

                  (c) Is it ethical to watch bareback porn if you consider it too risky to do yourself?

Answer: On a simple level, no maybe it isn't. Porn actors (unlike professional sportspeople or adventurers) generally do what they do for money and not for the love of it. If we consider an action unacceptably risky we generally shouldn't ask others to do it on our behalf for money.

However, this assumes that our personal judgment of risk must be a Kantian universal judgment for all humans. It might be, but it seems reasonable for someone to say: "I personally wouldn't accept the 1 in a Million chance of catching HIV whilst on prep having sex with other, frequently tested, partners also on prep, but it's still a low enough risk that it's not irrational for a porn actor to take it for good money, even though I personally wouldn't. Therefore, if such people want to accept that risk, I shall watch their material."

Notwithstanding the Kantian considerations advanced above, this I have to agree with!!

Not sure why this popped up up after so long, but it did, so I'm going to add a new 2-cents worth:

In the age of PrEP, if you want to have bareback sex, just make sure to protect yourself with an appropriate precaution: pills, shots, whatever. Be religious with you treatments, and that means seeing a Dr every few months or year.

Sure, there will be some who can't tolerate one form or another - maybe even a tiny percentage who can't tolerate any of them - but they are each far more effective at preventing the spread of HIV than condoms alone.. and if you use BOTH, your chances of getting infected with HIV (via sexual contact) is virtually NIL!

I don't know that porn studios don't require the use of PrEP, but if they don't they should.

Risk management is a thousand shades of grey. Driving 20 miles and back) to a bare hookup with an undetectible partner while I'm using PREP is far more dangerous than the sex act itself.

These producers may not be that strict, though I suppose they would ask the performers first. Either way, unprotected sex is extremely dangerous, especially with strangers. There’s an old saying in China: Do not intend harm toward others, but never let your guard down against them. Even with your own partner, you still need to be careful.
As for what genres I enjoy watching — I think it’s just for viewing pleasure. For example, BDSM videos excite me, but in real life I can’t stand any kind of SM at all.
In short, adult videos are meant to help viewers escape into fantasy. So the idea of unprotected sex is fine to watch and imagine, but in reality it’s absolutely unacceptable.😊
