      They sleep where they want.

At night (or at nap time), our Lab sleeps on the bed, our female sprocker sleeps on the dog bed in the bedroom and our male sprocker sleeps downstairs on the sofa or next to my nightstand.

My dogs sleep in the study which basically functions as their bedroom at night. They have their own couch and blankets to sleep on as well as their water. When they were puppies they were just too rambunctious at night to consider letting them sleep with people

Next to the bed, on his own little doggie bed. He prefers the space, and this way, he treats the furniture with respect.

Mine (rest his soul) slept wherever he chose too, otherwise there was hell to pay  😛

Winter was the time he most likley joined us on the bed, no idea why as he had blankets, basket etc.

How big was the dog? Smaller dogs tend to get more leeway on these issues tbh.

Mine have their own beds but they can still get up in the bed when they get weird.

Miniature dachshund = always on the bed and under the covers.

My dog has his own bed, but he loves sleeping next to me on my bed, he is an inside dog.
My passed away outside dog was used to sleep outisde or on the sofa.
