Sex (although strenuous) doesn't really increase your metabolic rate all that much - it's much better to exercise. Although exercising may give you better results in bed - so that's one reason to stick to sport

In your place, I would keep doing both, if you really like football. Like already said here, exercises can increase one's performance in bed. Or you can change to another kind of activity, if you prefer.
