Proxy Servers
-
as I told, each service has its own dedicated client, there is no "universal" application. but which service is good, I'm not able to tell you, as I'm not their user, maybe someone else…
-
alright ;D
also i read somewhere that we cant use proxy while visiting this site…..does this mean that if i put in the proxy IP and port into the firefox settings then i cant use this site ?
is this true or did i read wrongly ???
-
not completely… there can be a problem while using proxy, especially if you are assigned to one concrete mega proxy (with lots of users) and possibly some of them could be members of this site too. but there is no technical problem which would require avoid using proxy except "open registration day" (proxies are excluded in default, only invitations work). you can also set exceptions in your browser, which sites are to be accessed via proxy and which not. also, keep in mind that only "anonymous proxies" keep your IP completely hidden, but they are rarely free, though there are some. if you don't have an anonymous proxy, there is absolutely no need to use proxy at all (previously explained).
-
so the "anonymous proxies" are the applications we were talking about like VPN….right ???
-
nope. it's the sort of proxy, sort of way how the proxy handle your IP address. VPN proxies are always anonymous, free proxies usually not, but… you may find some...
-
okie dokie….well i was told of a VPN program.....but when i read the reviews lot of people complain about it making the internet very slow....i cant deal with that cause i watch a lot of movies and serials online.....
so anyway thanks a lot for all the help amice.....much appreciated as always ;D

Hi there. I'm trying to get clarification on the "no proxies allowed" policy. I have a high-speed anonymous proxy service that I would like to use for transfers. I have read in other posts that members are allowed to use proxies for transfers, but not for logging into the web site. Is that correct? Or would I be violating policy if my IP address used for transfers did not match the IP I use to log in? Also, I suspect other members could show the same IP for their transfers, so I don't know if that would be a violation. Thanks for your help.
You can specify which applications are to connect over proxies and which not. "Proxy-not-allowed" problem is related to your site account, not to your transfers. But, to be exact, we don't speak about "proxies" how most users may understand this term. There are specialized high-speed proxy services for this purpose, but all of them require a paid subscribtion. Common proxies free of charge may work, but their transfer speeds are extremely low. So far, PeerGuardian seems to be almost a sufficient solution against unwanted spies.

hello. yes, technically you got the point about proxies. no worries, you may use them for anonymization of your transfers. however, there may occure some transfer problems because of the sake of BT protocol which is designed to accept only one connection at a time from the same IP address. nonetheless, some clients have this option variable (like uTorrent) and you can enable or disable the allowance of multiple connections from the same IP address but also you have to be accepted by the other side. uTorrent in default is set to reject multiple connections. this shouldn't cause a big harm to a swarm, still in the theoretical model of all peers with the same IP address this would cause freezing of all transfers.
